Are these clear positives? I just can’t believe it. My dd was shielding. We’ve been ultra careful with her. These are hers, we are now waiting on PCR

@Flossie44 people who haven’t shielded themselves or a relative just don’t get it. The majority who shielded initially went back to work when they were dropped from the list and were very “I’m living my life”. Not realising how some people had to live this way pre covid.

Of course you were going to take repeat LFTs whilst awaiting the PCR. If you keep getting positive LFTS and a negative PCR I would even repeat that in 2 days in your situation. I hope if she does have it everything is as mild as possible for her.

With the blurry tests, I’m assuming some are yesterday’s you’ve kept and photographed at the same time so might be strange.

People are horrible, I’m sorry.

DeclineandFall · 30/12/2021 23:12

Don't want to give you false hope but my DB had a bunch of positive lft that looked messy like that. He tested negative on PCR. So they figured it was a dodgy batch. If she is positive they will maybe give her some of the anti viral medication they have. Might be worth contacting her team now.

Wishing your DD well Flowers

HerculesMulligan · 30/12/2021 23:23

OP, just wishing you and your DD well. We've been shielding my husband really carefully as he's CEV and when my 7yo tested positive a couple of weeks ago it was all of my worries come to life. We've come out the other side (for now) and either because of the booster or by some miracle my husband didn't get it, but I know a bit about how hard things have been and about how alarmed you must feel. I hope she has a very mild dose and feels better soon.

everythingthelighttouches · 30/12/2021 23:44

Flossie are you aware that your ds may be entitled to new covid treatments on the MHS??

This has been late niches very quietly just before Christmas. Check yours/her email including junk. You need to call 119 within a couple of days of a positive PCR

everythingthelighttouches · 30/12/2021 23:45

Honestly!! Typing abysmal.

DS = DD
MHS = NHS

SlowBoiledFrog · 30/12/2021 23:47

Sending you all the best, can't see how unused tests in your house would have benefited all the pearl clutches, they still wouldn't be able to use them. Another win for the Conservatives blaming each other for no LFTs when the fault is with them.

Late niches = launched

Frazzled2207 · 30/12/2021 23:51

Sorry to hear. I would expect the pcr to be positive (more than one false positive would be extremely rare)- if you can speak to her dr tomorrow I would do as it could take days for the pcr to come back.

Luckily she is vaccinated and omicron seems to be milder. So better that she has caught covid now than a year ago

Keep us posted with how she is doing

Bridgetjones92 · 30/12/2021 23:56

Know this feeling, I hope you’re okay. Fingers crossed for a negative result. Please don’t apologise. Use as many tests as you feel necessary for you to be sure. I know how hard it is to have been shielding all this time.

OMICHristmasOn · 31/12/2021 00:05

ignore all the hand wringers here, same people as my DM's neighbour who was outraged when i picked up LFTs in the chemist for her. DPs are both CEV and told to test daily as no PCR available. Couldn't stop myself reminding her loudly that she was the houseparty queen of lockdown.

OMICHristmasOn · 31/12/2021 00:07

posted too soon

Hope you DD and all of you keep well . I can only imagine the last 2 years for you all.

TerriblyNaice · 31/12/2021 00:15

Oh OP. What scary and exhausting months you've been through.

I hope that little one has a very mild case and that your whole family will be able to relax and worry less very soon Flowers

Twitterwhooooo · 31/12/2021 00:16

Oh how stressful. This virus is so bloody catchy, however careful you are.

Hopefully, your dd's vaccinations will stand her in good stead if the PCR is positive.

Wishing you and your dd well.

Yuledo · 31/12/2021 00:25

Best wishes op for her sailing through it.

How do you think she caught it?

Loki01 · 31/12/2021 00:57

@Flossie44

I’ve no idea why the tests were like this. Which has confused me too and I guess why I’m asking the question.
You are putting too much liquid on them.

But these are positive. You are unlikely to have false positives.

Please don't panic. There is treatment available should one be needed.

everythingthelighttouches · 31/12/2021 09:13

From the government website I linked to:

“ The NHS is offering new antibody and antiviral treatments to people with coronavirus (COVID-19) who are at highest risk of becoming seriously ill.
2 types of COVID-19 treatment are available:

sotrovimab (Xevudy)
molnupiravir (Lagevrio)
Sotrovimab is a biological medicine. It is also known as a neutralising monoclonal antibody (nMAb).

Molnupiravir is an antiviral medicine.

These treatments can help some people manage their COVID-19 symptoms and reduce the risk of becoming seriously ill.

Treatments for COVID-19 are for people aged 12 and over who have tested positive for the virus and are at highest risk of getting seriously ill.

Call 119 if you think you may be eligible for treatment but have not received your test kit by 10 January 2022.

If you're eligible for treatment and test positive for COVID-19, it's important to start the treatment as soon as you can.

The NHS will contact you within 24 hours of your positive PCR test result. This will usually be by text, email or phone call.

If you have not been contacted within 24 hours of your positive PCR test but you think you may be eligible for treatment, call your GP surgery or 111. They will be able to make an urgent referral if needed.”
