So as the title says I'm triple jabbed and tested positive on a lateral this morning. I've had what I thought was a cold for a few days and was testing every day due to seeing family over Xmas and have tested negative until today. Dp is also positive with no symptoms and dd17 is also positive and feels rough. Dp triple jabbed and dd double jabbed. We all have pcr's tomorrow.
So any fellow positive people come join in and let's get through isolation together

Positive on LFT today waiting for PCR.

Both DS's tested positive last week.

Had booster 17th Dec.

Feeling crap but not sure what's anxiety and what's illness, and extremely emotional!

Benjispruce5 · 03/01/2022 18:42

Blimey @PurpleVivo that’s horrendous!

Benjispruce5 · 03/01/2022 18:43

You should put your body forward for scientific exploration Grin

Can I ask about a disagreement that i have with my friend related to covid? She came back from visiting her boyfriend last Thursday and tested positive for covid so she informed him and he tested positive as well. Unfortunately the boyfriend has his kids staying with him at the time of her visit so they need to stay home with him, they were supposed to be back at their mother home last Sunday. she is complaining to me that the kids mom told her boyfriend that he has to follow the government guidelines and do 3 lft tests with a two days intervals between them and if all three test are negative she would take the kids back. She is outraged by it as boyfriend cannot rest with having the kids at his home, the kids don't show any symptoms and only one of the kids tested positive so far, 3 kids aged 7 to 17 (the 17 tested positive) I told her that the mom is doing the right thing by not taking them as she will be bringing covid into her household. But for her the mom is just being a bad mom for not taking care of her kids and if the other kids get covid it will be the mother fault. What do you think?

@Benjispruce5

My sister gets cold sores. Zovirax used to help.
I used to get them frequently. Read somewhere years ago that eating one avocado a week stops you from getting them. Have rarely had one since. Vitamin E or something else, I have no idea? Does seem to work though.
PurpleVivo · 03/01/2022 19:36

That’s what my friend said - I think he said the science museum 😂

Benjispruce5 · 03/01/2022 19:37

That’s interesting. I’m pretty sure she eats avocados regularly. She gets them less often now she’s in her 50s but gets them on her nose if she gets a cold!

Found this. Those of you who had symptoms but tested negative on LFT, this could be why.

MajesticWhine · 03/01/2022 23:10

@ErinAoife there is no legal requirement for the kids to self isolate except for the one who tested positive.
The guidance for household contacts recommends taking lateral flows for 7 days and self isolating if positive.
I don't think friend needs to be outraged though. I guess it's a matter of discussion between the two parents about what makes most sense. The mother might be clinically vulnerable (for example).

ErinAoife · 03/01/2022 23:26

My friend is from Belfast but the boyfriend is from the Republic of Ireland, not sure exactly where. The rules are different it seems as the child is closed contact and not vaccinated he need to restrict movements (stay home) for 14 days or have a negative pcr test to not have to isolate. So confusing to have different rules for different countries, it should the same everywhere.

EightWheelGirl · 04/01/2022 07:21

Tested negative today after having it over Xmas. Mildest cold I've ever had tbh. Had one day where I slept a lot but otherwise just a sore throat. Certainly not enough to stop me drinking wine and eating copious mince pies.

WreckTangled · 04/01/2022 08:14

My day 6 lft is still very positive

LethargeMarg · 04/01/2022 08:56

Just done a ltf on day 7 and it's a strong positive bah was really hoping to be free to go for a walk tomorrow or nip to the shop.

What day are you on if you don't mind me asking?
Benjispruce5 · 04/01/2022 09:19

DH day 6 today and he had high hopes of being negative as he’s fine but no, still positive. I’m still negative too. DDs are still asleep so will see about them later.

Benjispruce5 · 04/01/2022 09:33

How likely is it that I’ll catch it now do you reckon? Anyone get a positive after 6/7 days of exposure to a positive? I’m concerned that I’ll go back to work(can’t distance) and get a positive in a few days.

Peanut82 · 04/01/2022 09:41

My dd17 tested negative yesterday. Can't test myself as I'm waiting for more tests to come but my isolation is up tomorrow anyway so may aswell just wait

@Jobseeker19 the stats are showing that tripe gives 88% protection against hospitalisation or serous illness.

It's disappointing that it's not stopping g us getting it though.

I'm off for a PCR this morning as starting f to feel rough and met with friends 3 days ago who turned out to have it.

I've already had Covid twice so really hoping this is just a cold.

I'm immuno isurpressed so it figures I'll keep getting it. And everything else. FFS Confused

Benjispruce5 · 04/01/2022 09:50

Good luck @catwomandoo good news about tripe though.Grin

WreckTangled · 04/01/2022 15:11

Just realised I'm not allowed back to work until my lft is negative even after ten days. Curious to know if anyone is still testing positive after that?

LethargeMarg · 04/01/2022 15:20

My trust has the same test on day 10 policy though my day ten is Friday so hoping I'll be ok by Monday to go back to work. I think they risk assess it and we are so short staffed and supporting other teams (nhs) it would seem mad to not let me back to work on day 13 plus like everyone else there is only so many tests you can get your hands on at the moment !
Hopefully the tests start to fade at least ? 🤞🤞🤞

LethargeMarg · 04/01/2022 15:23

Have to say getting quite eye rolly at all the news people talking about reducing isolation 'from 7 days to...' when no one I know in real life has had a negative lateral flow at this point so for the majority I imagine it'll be still about ten days
I know a lot of people who now only plan on isolating for 7 days as well so am concerned about the messaging of this as it's very much supposed to be an earliest possible not the standard 😤

WreckTangled · 04/01/2022 15:24

We're in the community and don't have an issue with staffing (currently!). Hardly any of the team have had Covid though so could easily be hit soon. It's only Wednesday so by Monday I'll hopefully be ok (I'm assuming I only need one negative lft then and not two in a row? Might have to double check that).

WreckTangled · 04/01/2022 15:25

Agreed. Lots of people assuming they'll be good to go after seven days. Also people are struggling to get tests to who's to say they'll continue to isolate if they can't get any?
girlsyearapart · 04/01/2022 15:29

I started my symptoms on the 30th positive lft on the 1st confirmed by pcr taken same day. Lft on the 30 and 31 both negative. Be interesting to see if my lft on Thursday and Friday which will be day 6 and 7 are negative or not …
