Just posting for some sympathy and a bit of a rant really. Whole family did LFTs today before seeing family tomorrow and mine is positive. I've booked a PCR for 9am tomorrow morning but that's our Christmas ruined. Fuck
I'm triple jabbed and have had Covid before, had it in April 2020 before there was community testing available.
I suspect I got it at the pantomime I went to earlier in the week but who really knows
FUCK Angry

@Aspergirl77

Are you serious?!!

If none of them are vulnerable and are fully jabbed, then I don't really see the problem.... They have decided that having a proper family Christmas is more important than risking getting something that's very unlikely to be a cold, if even that!

Theimpossiblegirl · 24/12/2021 23:25

@IdontPracticeSanteria

So sorry OP.

Happened to me today too. So Went for a PCR test this morning.
I do feel unwell though, sore throat, stuffy nose.

Bloody typical, I seem to have avoided covid all year. Then get it smack bang on Xmas.

Feel so sorry for my little boy who will now be stuck in for a week with just me.

I know it's shit, but think of the lovely memories your little boy will have. Just you two for a week. You can have such a great time. If you feel dreadful, don't underestimate a movie day under duets eating crap in the making memories stakes.

@Acinaces. What an irresponsible, reprehensible person you are.

How will you feel if just one person from your wonderful Christmas party ends up in ICU? Will you be telling all your guests before they arrive that they will be at high risk of catching COVID as you have tested positive?

Vargas · 24/12/2021 23:28

@Acinaces So why did you bother doing a test if you're completely ignoring the result?

Something not quite right here... Hmm

Even though I don't necessarily have a problem with @Acinaces is planning, I'm presuming she's cleared it with them. Not telling guests you had Covid would be particularly shitty.

Autonomy. I allow my family and friends to make their own decisions. They know I am positive, yet they still wish to have Christmas in my home.

It's bizarre how many of the users here will casually sit inside a pub/club/restaurant/cinema, breathing in the aerosols of the infected (vaccinated and unvaccinated) and feel they're in the position to judge Wink

Yuledo · 24/12/2021 23:31

We’ll join you in the tiny Xmas gang. We are in the same boat.

They're forced upon me at work.

It would depend on what you're doing.... Having some close family over on Christmas Day who weren't vulnerable and weren't fussed is one thing, but if she was seeing 95 year old auntie on Boxing Day, that presumably would be a very different calculation.

toomuchlaundry · 24/12/2021 23:34

@Acinaces luckily I don't know any fuckwits who will be doing what you are doing. I'm sure you think your career is really important. I hope none of your family get sick (not necessarily COVID) and need healthcare and it won't be available because idiots like you have spread the virus so HCPS are off sick.

ilovesooty · 24/12/2021 23:34

@Acinaces works for the NHS as well.

Disgusting attitude.

toomuchlaundry · 24/12/2021 23:36

Well if they aren't vaccinated they mightl be out of a job soon

Tabbydancer · 24/12/2021 23:37

Same for us. Close family member so plans scuppered and joint holiday cancelled too

That's okay - your opinion doesn't affect me in the slightest.

What I know is, COVID is here to stay. You can choose how to live your life.

Dillidalli · 24/12/2021 23:37

Positive PCR two days ago. DH collecting the dinner from my mums tomorrow.

I proudly work for the NHS; I love what I do.

Judge all you want. It's us clinicians (unvaccinated or vaccinated) who save lives.

There was life before COVID.

ilovesooty · 24/12/2021 23:45

I'd hate to think there were many clinicians in the NHS who lack any moral code or societal responsibility.

Curiousmouse · 24/12/2021 23:45

Definitely a bullshit artist.

DrunkenKoala · 24/12/2021 23:45

We’re in the same boat, but we’ve known for a few days now. DS tested positive towards the end of last week so we’ve cancelled my dad coming down, luckily he’s managed to make other arrangements 😊.

Currently waiting on PCR results for DD as she developed symptoms yesterday. Over the past week we’ve been out for a ride around the park a couple of times but we had to cancel seeing FC and rearrange another activity for after Christmas so I’m really hoping she isn’t positive otherwise it’ll be one shit Christmas holiday for her.

MatildaJayne · 24/12/2021 23:46

You’ve got very defensive, Acinacres. Hmm

Uninterested · 24/12/2021 23:47

We’ve had to move Christmas too. It’s not too big a disaster but a bit depressing 😭😭😭

The person isolating should be out of isolation on Boxing Day but only if they do two negative lateral flow tests. First one is tomorrow morning, I really hope it’s negative.
Anyone a clue how long people typically test positive after their symptoms first started?

Acinaces · 24/12/2021 23:47

NHS staff who test positive but have had all injections can still head to work.

Patients still need to be seen.

Food for thought ;)

Really...???? Not in my trust. If we (clinicians) test positive we isolate but if an immediate family member tests positive we can still work pending a negative PCR and daily LFTs.

@choosername1234 I'm glad that's the case.

OMICHristmasOn · 24/12/2021 23:57
