Just posting for some sympathy and a bit of a rant really. Whole family did LFTs today before seeing family tomorrow and mine is positive. I've booked a PCR for 9am tomorrow morning but that's our Christmas ruined. Fuck
I'm triple jabbed and have had Covid before, had it in April 2020 before there was community testing available.
I suspect I got it at the pantomime I went to earlier in the week but who really knows
FUCK Angry

Why are so many people testing when they have no symptoms

Blueuggboots · 24/12/2021 22:07

Same here. Son's best mate (who he's spent the last 4 days with) tested positive on LFT last night.
My son woke up this morning snotty and coughing so had a PCR at 9.
We've got no festive food in as we were going to my MIL's.....to make it worse, my mum was also coming to my MIL's but she saw my son for a few hours yesterday so doesn't feel she should go either. She's also got plans to go away with lots of elderly friends on 27th.....😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
Not feeling very Christmassy!!!

BurntO · 24/12/2021 22:09

@starsparkle08 that’s literally why lateral flow tests exist or did you miss the MEMO? It’s so you don’t infect others who could potentially be hit hard and require treatment or put them at risk of long covid

@starsparkle08

Because that's what lateral flow tests are for
Acinaces · 24/12/2021 22:32

I tested positive on Wednesday - no symptoms whatsoever. My family still want to visit; Christmas will go as planned.

Are you serious?!!

It's seriously not your business lol.

Yes, I tested positive, and yes I will be hosting Christmas for my family. I will be having a fab time. Grin
Sunshineandrainbow · 24/12/2021 22:38

Tested positive this morning. Feel terrible to let the night shift down tonight.
Seriously not had a day off sick in 15 years and I feel so guilty for them tonight.

wingingit33 · 24/12/2021 22:43

@Acinaces wow

amicissimma · 24/12/2021 22:49

Another here. Hostess positive and now her partner feels really unwell, so a small Christmas at home for us and then the Big Day moved until we're all clear. We need to be very careful as there is a CEV person involved who would be heartbroken to miss out.

Best wishes to everyone having a rather different Christmas to what they had planned.

Wow indeed.
How irresponsible.

BananaPant · 24/12/2021 22:56

Acinaces

And you'll be blaming Boris no doubt if we get locked down again due to the increase in hospital admissions.

I think you must be pulling our leg. Surely you can't be that stupid.

Acinaces · 24/12/2021 22:56
@Acinaces wow
Don't be surprised, sweetie. There's many of us doing the same; I am brave enough to admit it. I'm not having COVID ruin my Christmas.

TriciaMcMillan · 24/12/2021 22:57

Serious question, what was the point of testing then?

wingingit33 · 24/12/2021 22:58

@Acinaces sweetie lol Hmm "plenty of us doing it". Actually you're the first person I've ever known to a)be doing it b) be proud of the fact their knowingly keeping this pandemic going.

Sorry, app is being temperamental. Question was for @Acinaces
Newbabynewhouse · 24/12/2021 23:01

@starsparkle08

Lateral flows are meant to be done regularly when you dont have symptoms

massiveblob · 24/12/2021 23:01

@Acinaces I have to assume all your family are vaccinated, not worried and happy to all get a dose of Covid. If there's a group of you indoors all day socialising it's a fair bet at least some others will get it. If they then carry on, it will just spread the Covid love.
Wierd as I'd not even do that if I had normal flu. Will they all self isolate from work for ten days or LFT every day?

IdontPracticeSanteria · 24/12/2021 23:06

So sorry OP.

Happened to me today too. So Went for a PCR test this morning.
I do feel unwell though, sore throat, stuffy nose.

Bloody typical, I seem to have avoided covid all year. Then get it smack bang on Xmas.

Feel so sorry for my little boy who will now be stuck in for a week with just me.

Have a wonderful Christmas and well done for not letting Covid ruin your Christmas 😂
Vickles20 · 24/12/2021 23:09

So sorry for you OP and everyone else who’s locked down at such short notice. Rotten luck. Sorry if this has been mentioned before. But deliveroo and Uber eats deliver groceries? You might be able to get stuff for a roast dinner delivered. X

Curiousmouse · 24/12/2021 23:13

My distant niece has gone to work after her DH tested posting, telling nobody, I understand. Unvaccinated, not surprisingly. Some people are pure sjhitbags.

I don't care about Boris. No doubt he'll be hosting another cheese and wine party Grin

I will not be locking down either; I have a life and career and can't stay locked inside the house all day.

whattodo2019 · 24/12/2021 23:19

🥲 so sorry.
I hope that someone drops you off some
lunch tomorrow and that you manage to have a lovely day regardless xx

Curiousmouse · 24/12/2021 23:19

Don't let her derail the thread. It's what she wants.

Poor you, OP. Get well soon.

The majority of the family are not vaccinated. Most of us have had the Shit-on-a-virus (pardon my French) and we were just fine.

COVID is spreading, yes. It's not getting in the way of my Christmas.
