Just posting for some sympathy and a bit of a rant really. Whole family did LFTs today before seeing family tomorrow and mine is positive. I've booked a PCR for 9am tomorrow morning but that's our Christmas ruined. Fuck
I'm triple jabbed and have had Covid before, had it in April 2020 before there was community testing available.
I suspect I got it at the pantomime I went to earlier in the week but who really knows
FUCK Angry

I'm NHS also due to work over Christmas. I have to stay off until PCR result is back

QueenJeanie · 25/12/2021 08:18

@Acinaces

NHS staff who test positive but have had all injections can still head to work.

Patients still need to be seen.

Food for thought ;)

Bullshit

I don’t think that’s true in any trust. Total bullshit.

Maybe if they live with someone who tests positive and they are vaccinated and have a negative pcr they can (which is what my trust says) but not if they are actually positive.

choosername1234 · 25/12/2021 08:38

Merry Christmas to all of us unexpectedly isolating today, especially to those joining us in fish fingers for Christmas lunch Xmas Sad

And to everyone working today, in any capacity, I hope your day is as smooth an unexciting as possible (not using the "Q" word)

@Acinaces clinicians in my trust are told to test daily on a lateral if they are a contact in the home, then isolate when positive. We absolutely cannot come into work if positive

x2boys · 25/12/2021 10:41

It's crap isn't it the kids have it they are not ill thankfully but we are all isolating 😭

x2boys · 25/12/2021 10:54

@starsparkle08

Why are so many people testing when they have no symptoms
Well it's a bloody good job we did ,both my boys have COVID,with few symptoms ,they are fine We were due to go to my 80 year old parents house for Xmas dinner ,both are clinically vulnerable my mum extremely ,so if she caught COVID I really think it would keep kill her ,not a risk that,I m willing to take .
treeflowercat · 25/12/2021 11:26

@CrocodilesCry

Have you even been awake the past two years? Of course she can't go and see her friends if she is positive, even if they are. Fucking hell.

Why ever not if her friends are all positive!

I always wondered how this country ever banned Christmas for a decade or so in the 17th century under Cromwell. Now I realise... Sour faced Puritanism and grim-faced preaching of misery clearly runs deep in some parts of the country's psyche.

JustDanceAddict · 25/12/2021 11:28

@Acinaces - if you’re legit you should be ashamed. Do your family know you’ve got covid and they’ll be exposing themselves?
I don’t know anyone who is taking this stand, even the other half of our family who have some strange ideas about covid. One member tested + so it’s off for them.

FairfaxHigh · 25/12/2021 11:41

Posting in solidarity- DS1 got a positive result this morning after we tested before mixing with elderly relatives Sad Just back from his PCR test now. Main thing is that he's well in himself. Rest of us were negative but will be doing daily lfts.
Wonderful DM is making us up a hamper of the Christmas dinner that we were going to their house to eat to be collected from the doorstep. So grateful as was not sure how I was going to fettle it together from what we've got in.
So Christmas is going to look very different to what we had planned. DS1 was very upset at first but both DC completely distracted with presents now. I have wine and chocolate. It's all good.

It's the worst isn't it, very similar to what happened to me. How is your Christmas Day going?

Dd works in a care home. Her weekly PCR came back positive this morning.

Ds was then positive on the LFT.

Christmas guests cancelled

We had a trip to the test centre for a PCR and then test and protect got in touch, so we're isolating until the 4th.

llm24 · 25/12/2021 19:23

If @Acinaces works for the NHS she needs to be reported and if she works on the frontline for help any patients treated by her 😡

FairfaxHigh · 25/12/2021 20:06

@choosername1234 it's not been to bad at all really. DM put all the DC's favourite treats in with the food so it felt like a proper Christmas dinner even though it was just the four of us. We then had Zoom call with Dparents and rest of day has been playing games and chilling. Different to how we'd planned it but still ended up being lots of fun. Hope you and everyone else on here in the same boat has managed to have an ok day too.

choosername1234 · 25/12/2021 21:33

Thanks! Glad to hear most people had an enjoyable day even with short notice isolation.
I'm starting to feel a bit rough now, bit of a fever. Triple jabbed and had Covid already this was one of the last things I was expecting. Just hoping DH & the kids avoid it

@Acinaces has been posting factually incorrect tripe and backtracking her story. Either a bit careless or an ignorant idiot. Hmmmm.

Highly unlikely her "NHS role" has meant she has had to tell anyone their loved one is dying from covid

Newbabynewhouse · 26/12/2021 11:29

@Acinaces

You are a very selfish person.. it's not about you or your family, it's about the people you are spreading it to when you go out and about as normal and spread it to people who are vulnerable! So when you go to work will you tell them all that you are positive? I actually think you are attention seeking and winding us up because tou can't be that stupid and selfish surely..

LindaEllen · 26/12/2021 11:46

@TheThreeHeadedBeast

Can I join you on the pity fest. DH tested positive this morning, the rest of us are clear. We did have an emergency turkey! Hoping for a negative pcr (he had just had a glass of orange juice). Hopeful for a negative pcr in the morning
If it was fresh orange that's well known for giving false positives. Test again after he's drunk plenty of water.

The risk was well worth it.

My family and I had a brilliant Christmas, thank you. I'll be hosting for new years too!

As I said earlier - trust and tiers play a huge part in this.

Some trusts are simply too short-staffed to follow all of the guidelines.

Nothing is incorrect. What I've stated applies to my trust and tier.

It's as simple as that!

The truth can hurt; however, it's better to be informed rather than be oblivious.

They knew I had COVID; I had informed them. As I said, Christmas went ahead as planned.

I'm not ashamed of spending Christmas with my loved ones and having a slice of normality.
