Just posting for some sympathy and a bit of a rant really. Whole family did LFTs today before seeing family tomorrow and mine is positive. I've booked a PCR for 9am tomorrow morning but that's our Christmas ruined. Fuck
I'm triple jabbed and have had Covid before, had it in April 2020 before there was community testing available.
I suspect I got it at the pantomime I went to earlier in the week but who really knows
FUCK Angry

@Crazycatlady83

So Sorry OP that's so crap! I wondered if anyone has actually had a positive on a LFT then negative PCR (so a false positive?) My mum tested positive on LFT (absolutely no symptoms so total shock) and we are awaiting PCR results, but we are clutching at straws and hope it's a false positive.

Also, I wondered if anyone had any idea of return times - she did her a PcR at 11am this morning - we are praying for a quick turn around. In the south east, but not London!

Yes I've had a few false positives on the flowflex! Usually first thing in morning. All rules out by negative PCRs.
Aspergirl77 · 24/12/2021 20:28

@Acinaces

I tested positive on Wednesday - no symptoms whatsoever. My family still want to visit; Christmas will go as planned.
Are you serious?!! Shock
Madcats · 24/12/2021 20:31

I've seen so many +ve LFT's on my Twitter feed today.

Commiserations to all affected and apologies.

I persuaded the family that we needed a takeaway tonight.

It hadn't dawned on me that a sizeable part of England might be dependent on Uber Eats/Deliveroo/Just Eat

@Rosiestraws

Just wanted to post to say sorry for all of you in this position and thank you on behalf of all the strangers out there who you don't know, but who you'll be protecting by staying in with the positive LTF. It's so shit that it's Christmas but you're doing the right thing to help limit/control the spread of the virus.
Well said.

It's shit. Especially as last year many of us couldn't meet and for those who could numbers were limited.

It's all the harder when you get asymptomatic positive so close.

But with people so being so selfless and community minded we can get through this quicker WineThanks

firefly123 · 24/12/2021 20:43

Beyond sad. Son tested positive. Christmas just us

Are you serious?!!

It's seriously not your business lol.

DontKeepTheFaith · 24/12/2021 21:00

That must be really disappointing, such a shame for all those with ruined Christmas plans😢 I hope you manage to have some vestige of a decent day💐

I’m working across the festive period but not tomorrow, I keep testing because I have a really bad feeling it’s coming and am just keeping everything crossed I stay negative.

Across the hospital we have loads off due to COVID so things are really tight.

It’s at times like these I am grateful to be an antisocial person that avoids seeing anyone at Christmas, no one to disappoint🤣

massiveblob · 24/12/2021 21:07

So many people are +ve with virtually no symptoms I can see why some are carrying on. But problem is you don't know who might them get it and end up really ill. I know loads who have had plans wrecked

Crapslattern · 24/12/2021 21:09

@choosername1234

I'm sorry to hear of everyone else in the same situation. What a shit situation we all find ourselves in. Perhaps we could all get together and have a "Covid Christmas" (joke) Xmas Wink
Come and join us on the Covid Christmas thread!

Brave or bonkers? Can't work out which...

choosername1234 · 24/12/2021 21:11

@Chickenkorma64

Sorry to hear your news OP. Was it a flowflex test? As someone up thread asked. I always test positive with that brand, but pcr and other brands give me negative on same day. Hope you feel ok and that you get negative pcr quickly
Yes, it was a flowflex test. But I have tested negative on them at least 3 times previously

All of us are positive and it is rubbish. I was lucky enough that we are coming to the end of it now (isoltion ends boxing day and 27th!).
I hope that all those with changed plans can have a lovely day regardless and all stay well.
Merry christmas everyone (even if it doesn't feel very merry).🎄

caramac4 · 24/12/2021 21:19

Same here. DD had a positive LFT at 3pm all had a pcr by 4pm.
12 down to 4 for Christmas 🤦🏼‍♀️😥🎄

sofakingexhausted · 24/12/2021 21:20

I tested positive this morning after feeling tight chested and coughing over night. I'm gutted. Went for a pcr this morning but fortunately because I found this morning my mum has been and doorstep dropped some bits for lunch tomorrow :( thinking of all you in similar positions

Keepitonthedownlow · 24/12/2021 21:24

Just me and DD here for Xmas now. On day 3/4 of covid symptoms. I suppose I'm lucky because I've had a few days to come to terms. Sorry to hear about those just finding out- but credit to you for doing the responsible thing and testing.

No words. Really silly behaviour
Queenie24 · 24/12/2021 21:29

DH has had a positive pcr test after a positive lateral flow test. We were meant to be going away on Monday but it’s cancelled now. We have loads of food as we had family coming to us Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

bumblefeline · 24/12/2021 21:41

Same here as well OP.

Fortunately have food in and Amazon delivered booze.

It's just taken our neighbours down as well.

Hope next year is better.

Lots of staff dropping like flies! Xx

BoredZelda · 24/12/2021 21:56

Uber rats are doing an NHS discount

I’d probably want to avoid that service for a Christmas dinner…..
