Just posting for some sympathy and a bit of a rant really. Whole family did LFTs today before seeing family tomorrow and mine is positive. I've booked a PCR for 9am tomorrow morning but that's our Christmas ruined. Fuck
I'm triple jabbed and have had Covid before, had it in April 2020 before there was community testing available.
I suspect I got it at the pantomime I went to earlier in the week but who really knows
FUCK Angry

@MatildaJayne

You’ve got very defensive, Acinacres. Hmm
No. I am factual.
choosername1234 · 25/12/2021 00:01

@OMICHristmasOn

where are you getting a PCR on Christmas Day OP?
There was loads of availability at all of the usual testing sites close to me. Just another working day for the staff I guess (hope they're on double bubble)

Soooo everyone has got it basically then......... So maybe the lady just carrying on is right!

Me and one daughter have tested positive this week her on Tuesday, me on Wednesday on PCRs we did tests as friends we had lunch with on Saturday had tested positive.

The other daughter and Dad might be posititve but only had PCR today....... We are socially distancing from them...... why as we spent all week together???? I don't know. If they get negatives tomorrow they reckon they are going to go off on holiday so that we can have the house to ourselves.

The wee kid had it in October so we are using him to go out on errands!!!

It's a weird one for sure!!!

Can't work out what to do for the best really.

Eg can the teen go and see her friends who are also positive..... I mean yeah why not.... walk there, or I drive her......

@Crazycatlady83

So Sorry OP that's so crap! I wondered if anyone has actually had a positive on a LFT then negative PCR (so a false positive?) My mum tested positive on LFT (absolutely no symptoms so total shock) and we are awaiting PCR results, but we are clutching at straws and hope it's a false positive.

Also, I wondered if anyone had any idea of return times - she did her a PcR at 11am this morning - we are praying for a quick turn around. In the south east, but not London!

One of my colleagues had two positive LFTs followed by a negative PCR. She visited her GP and found out she had a different infection, but not Covid.

DS did a PCR on a Sunday and got his results the following day. Colleague's results took two days iirc.

mynameisigglepiggle · 25/12/2021 00:03

My eldest DD tested positive on LFT at 5pm tonight. No symptom as yet and felt fine. Rest of us all negative.
Had a PCR test at 545pm and then I had mad dash after 6 to get a turkey etc as we were supposed to be at my in laws tomorrow.

I'm pragmatic - there are people worse off than us x

TurquoiseBaubles · 25/12/2021 00:05

@Acinaces

NHS staff who test positive but have had all injections can still head to work.

Patients still need to be seen.

Food for thought ;)

I know this is an attempt at a derail, but it's just not true. Unless, of course, the "NHS staff" isn't in a patient facing role.

NHS staff who are household contacts of someone who has tested positive are in many cases told to stay home.

The only bit I worry about is that the test results are done on trust, so it's possible someone might say their tests are negative. I naively thought most people weren't fuckwits, but I'm beginning to wonder.

No @TurquoiseBaubles

It depends on the trust/tier.

cmcc22 · 25/12/2021 00:07

Feeling for everyone with positive tests ......DH tested positive Christmas Eve morning after having symptoms. My DM & DF already here for the holidays. All trying to keep apart at the moment and hope it doesn't spread any further to me, them or 2x DS (18&16). I'm currently in the spare room with the cats - not exactly the Christmas I had planned.

ChiefStockingStuffer · 25/12/2021 00:15

@HailAdrian

Acinaces

I tested positive on Wednesday - no symptoms whatsoever. My family still want to visit; Christmas will go as planned.

Are you serious?!!

It's seriously not your business lol.

Of course it is. Because those visiting family members may well pick it up and spread it on their journey home and being out and about ... and they'll be doing it knowingly.

To hell with everyone else, eh?

me4real · 25/12/2021 00:18

@choosername1234 You never know, it could be a false positive. If your PCR is ok could you go back to your original plan?

Acinaces · 25/12/2021 00:22

Who knows @ChiefStockingStuffer

Maybe they'll contract it from the pub/cinema/theatre/restaurant .... the possibilities seem endless.

Yellownotblue · 25/12/2021 00:23

@Acinaces I’m really saddened to see this sort of attitude. I had COVID in November and was sick for six weeks. Even though I didn’t need to be hospitalised, I was in serious pain, with a rib cage inflammation and constant vomiting from coughing. I’m under 50 and in good health. Covid is a nasty virus. Even my ten year old had 40 degree fever for 8 days with it. Quite why you would want to risk spreading it is frankly beyond me.

llm24 · 25/12/2021 00:27

I feel your pain
Hubbie had a positive LFT on Wednesday, we all went for a PCR
Hubbie and daughter positive me and son ok for now

No good time to get Covid but totally sucks at Christmas

CrocodilesCry · 25/12/2021 00:27

So shitty for everyone who has had to postpone Christmas.

As for @Acinaces - all I can say is it's a true example of natural selection, especially if their family are also unvaccinated.

Blinky21 · 25/12/2021 00:30

@Acinaces you must really hate your family

What trust / area is that? In ours you'd be off until two days -ve lft same as everyone else. You'd be working remotely

Have you even been awake the past two years? Of course she can't go and see her friends if she is positive, even if they are. Fucking hell.

Not at all.

I am SEEING my family tomorrow Wink

It's best she stays locked up, depressed and panicking over COVID.
Yellownotblue · 25/12/2021 00:40

Okay @Acinaces. Enjoy your 1% raise. With this sort of attitude, you won’t getting more in quite some time as money keeps being diverted to emergency Covid support and care.

It's fine - I am going private next year.

The NHS is somewhat like the Titanic.

COVID care is important; however, I'd like to see emergency support for cancer patients, patients with severe mental health conditions and children with life-threatening illnesses.

We now have highly qualified doctors cancelling their appointments to offer COVID jabs while the aforementioned suffer.

llm24 · 25/12/2021 00:51

@Acinaces

This type of activity is the reason we are still living under restrictions

I have had to console my 17 year old daughter who tested positive with no symptoms but understands Grandma and Papa won’t be coming for Xmas

Yes it sucks but my daughter is mature enough to understand the consequences if we meet up

Shame on ur and ur family
