Just seen this on the BBC news
… mine was 13 1/2 weeks ago and I’ve just volunteered to cover extra shifts outside of my normal area of work in the NHS should the need arise.
Oh heck…..

I've had my antibodies now for 22 months (from getting Covid) and I get them tested every few months with an antibody test. I've still got thousands more antibodies than I need. After 22 months.
When I got my most recent blood test done this week the doctor said that most people don't need the booster as in the clinic everyone he has seen has had antibodies last over a year. But he said it would be too complicated aged and expensive to test everyone etc so they just tell everyone to get the booster just in case. But most of them not needed.
The waste of money and everything makes my blood boil. They could be doing far more useful things and now they are going to start forcing us all to have a 4th one soon...
I do think they are scare mongering us into rushing to get more and more jabs ASAP.

Laura4848 · 25/12/2021 01:16

It's a disgrace, the government often peddle the line of how many have died of covid in the Uk but many people don't understand the figures are every single death of anyone who died within 28 days of a positive covid test. Given around 500 die on average per day at any time pre covid or not, many of those statistically in one of the most tested nations on earth will have had a covid test and if they die of heart disease/cancer within 28 days of one of those tests if positive it's death by covid! That's one of the reasons the average age of death is so high as many are sadly on their last legs anyway, if anyone younger dies below 40 it's so rare it makes the national news and even then it's normally with other medical issues. Posters like dumpling seem to enjoy spreading the fear too thick to grasp covid is a bad cold for the vast vast majority of the population

@MIkeLondon

I tend to avoid the phrase ‘covidiot’ - but now and again, someone comes along who exemplifies the term perfectly.

Merry Xmas!

Beadebaser · 25/12/2021 02:01

Oh and @Laura4848 too.

Merry Xmas!

I do get annoyed with how our Government/ media just complete avoids natural immunity. They are now also starting to give the impression that the vaccines are useless.

A never ending vaccine program and complete denial of natural immunity is just ridiculous.

Thing is it’s not just us, collectively the world has just gone mad.

walksen · 25/12/2021 05:48

"A never ending vaccine program and complete denial of natural immunity is just ridiculous".

There's loads of diseases we don't rely on natural immunity for. A whole list of diseases we jab for rather than rely on natural immunity. We cook food and treat water to prevent infection instead of relying on natural immunity. I went travelling to the far East once and had about 7 jabs for things like rabies, yellow fever etc instead of natural immunity.

When the whole world decides to follow a similar course of action with experts in a variety of fields I think you should question who has " gone mad"

Beadebaser · 25/12/2021 05:57

@SpringRainbow

No scientific paper, anywhere is suggesting the vaccines are useless - that such an overreaction on your part, and frankly dangerous/uneducated suggestion - which may influence others with on Social Media.

If your other (poorly educated) suggestion of natural immunity was adopted by governments around the world, and they decided to ignore the consensus of global medical thought on Covid (i.e the most esteemed, best educated, intelligent, highly qualified medical professionals in the world) - do you REALLY think that would be the best strategy?

Do you realise there is a lot of emerging science in Covid, much of this science contradictory - but global decisions CANNOT be made on one study in isolation. There needs to be a consensus of opinion - and robust, peer reviewed research - before the WHO tell governments - globally - the best course of action.

Do you know better than WHO? @springrainbow? Have you spent years studying virology at one of the top universities in the world? I somehow doubt it.

I don’t think vaccines are useless, but I am hearing more and more from lots of people, many of which were very pro vaccines that they are not bothering any more because the Government don’t believe vaccines don’t work.

It’s not me spreading misinformation, it’s poor messaging from the Government. They are screwing this up, and the media are not helping.

Don’t get mad at me, or anyone else who has had enough.

Get mad of those who actually have the power but are completely and utterly useless.

Yeah, the troll hunters are the real issue 🙄
Beadebaser · 25/12/2021 06:32

@SpringRainbow

‘Lots of people’ are not WHO. People should not be discouraged from following the WHO guidance and the NHS guidance. It is THIS that is causing the problem.

I agree that our government has been untrustworthy and shit - but that is absolutely no reason to go against what the best scientists worldwide are telling us to do.

I think it’s so sad that our government have handled the pandemic so poorly, that people see good medical advice as ‘Boris’ advice - and rally against it. That the message from very well motivated, intelligent and hardworking medical professionals has been - basically - shat on by Boris, as he tells others what to do and ignores the advice himself.

Beadebaser · 25/12/2021 06:39

Right! I must stay away from Mumsnet and enjoy Xmas. Merry Xmas everyone - and please stay safe! Be angry with the government but DON’T get angry with science. Listen to the NHS and WHO guidance. They are the best informed - not random people on Social Media.

@Beadebaser The WHO are saying we shouldn’t be giving out any more vaccines, instead we should be focusing on helping those that haven’t had a vaccine to be able to obtain one.

I completely agree with them. I am not angry with them.

However, their message is not getting to the general public. The media and the Government have a lot to answer to.

I hope you have a Merry Christmas.

Thievesoil · 25/12/2021 07:15

Och it really is madness not to consider immunity now. That doesn’t make me “anti-science” - perhaps science has followed the money perhaps?

SA is doing rather well with Omicrom - even Whitty himself has suggested their natural immunity has helped them there

But we are about to force NHS staff to take this product when likely they will all be immune and it makes little difference to anything for what - a few weeks? Or young people - jabbed and jabbed yet most will have had it

If this is following science and clever people “who have studied at top unis” them god helps us!

I’m a lawyer - sadly not this field - and I hope one of them starts to dismantle some of this.

Beadebaser · 25/12/2021 15:15

@SpringRainbow No they are NOT saying that at all! There is talk of vaccine inequity, but NO ONE anywhere is saying - don’t accept the vaccine if it’s offered to you.

The more people vaccinated, the better.

Yes @Thievesoil - not in this field. You are not an expert - so respect the people that are!

You have misunderstood me again @Beadebaser, they are saying we should focus on the unvaccinated rather than keep offering numerous boosters.

Thievesoil · 25/12/2021 16:13

I stopped respecting those people when they moved on to non vulnerable teens. You do know there are some scientists and medics speaking out against this?!
