Will Johnson turn up do we think? Worth prioritising?
Maybe clashes with the no10 Christmas party.

StealthPolarBear · 19/12/2021 14:47

Or is it the no10 Christmas party?

FindingMeno · 19/12/2021 14:47

Uh-oh.

Kate3150 · 19/12/2021 14:48

Yeah I was wondering if Cobra meeting was the new code word for Christmas party at No 10.

joanneligthelm · 19/12/2021 14:52

"Meeting" or christmas party,?

PartyPrawnRingGames · 19/12/2021 14:53

Nicola Sturgeon bringing her famous Cheesy dip with haggis meatball dippers.

meditrina · 19/12/2021 14:54

COBRA don't sent necessatprioy mean the sky is falling in. It can simply be a convenient way to get all relevant people round one table.

They may or may not involve the PM or Secretaries of State. They can also be at ministerial level, or between officials (varying seniority)

The press tend to report only on those during crises, which tend to have more senior attendance and greater expectation of imminent action. But that's not actually inherent

Hamjamwich · 19/12/2021 14:55

Cobra. How appropriate for a load of snakes

the80sweregreat · 19/12/2021 14:56

That love a cobra meeting
The Cabinet Office Briefing room.
What are the figures like today ? Anyone know ?

IcedPurple · 19/12/2021 14:56

Wasn't this already planned a few days ago?

gogohm · 19/12/2021 14:57
Grin

This is with the devolved government's so it's more likely to be about potential support for sectors affected right now. They will be crunching numbers though on cases, hospitalisations, boosters deaths etc to see if we can just grit our teeth this week and hope it burns it's self out. It's too late to stop it (to be fair it was too late by the time it was detected) it's whether it is more serious than a cold that matters ... remember colds can kill immunocompromised people but we didn't lock down.

Personally I'm triple vaxxed and carrying on normally

jimmyhill · 19/12/2021 14:57

Neither chancellor nor PM to attend apparently

OrangeCrunch · 19/12/2021 14:57

Wasn't this already pencilled in?

PartyPrawnRingGames · 19/12/2021 14:58

What are the figures like today ? Anyone know ?
Dominic Raab is just making them up.

Belindabelle · 19/12/2021 14:59

Steve Barclay leading it. I wonder if Johnson has gone on holiday already.

meditrina · 19/12/2021 15:02

@Belindabelle

Steve Barclay leading it. I wonder if Johnson has gone on holiday already.
He's due paternity leave.

Anyone know if he's taking the full normal amount?

PartyPrawnRingGames · 19/12/2021 15:04

He's in the cellar dusting off the Chateauneuf du Pape.

the80sweregreat · 19/12/2021 15:07

Boris Johnson is either in a fridge or on paternity leave now ( he was on tv at a vaccination clinic on Friday , so who knows ?)
It's probably just about money or number crunching.

the80sweregreat · 19/12/2021 15:08

I'm surprised that M Gove isn't chairing it !
He did last week

titchy · 19/12/2021 15:09

BJ can't risk going in case someone turns up with tinsel round their neck.

PartyPrawnRingGames · 19/12/2021 15:11

Yes he knows nothing about it

Bubblty · 19/12/2021 15:13

Seems a good idea

Poetrypatty · 19/12/2021 15:24
