My Christmas is cancelled

My husband tested positive.

I cant tell you how much I needed this Christmas. The one time of the year where all of my family and family friends make eachother a priority so that we are together. I hate this. We cant get an online shop because slots are full, and we don't own a car.

They're still delivering here and you can hanky book one for a few hours time

I booked my Ocado slot in October - could only get the 21st but still. I booked mine assuming that I would be doing all the Christmas cooking and prep. But it's not turned out that way, so I cancelled mine at the start of Dec. I do have a mid week delivery pass but the week of Xmas pay £9-99 delivery and a minimum order of £90. My basket would have been nearly all champagne! Thinking about the other thread I am on - are you eating alone on Christmas Day? Well I am and dont need 5 bottles of champers!

Ocado clearly got burned last year = this year you had to cancel your slot more than a fortnight in advance of your slot date not to be charged the delivery fee.

OP: Ocado are expensive but normally fairly reliable and their drivers are lovely. (As are Customer Services in the unlikely event there is an issue).

As mentioned above, I was going to get a bus there and a taxi home just like I always do.

oh because it's soooo easy to break into the witches coven of school mums! I don't think some MNers live in the real world at all, although people in some areas of the UK are friendlier than in others, I guess.

Erm... i went on the website and booked one? How else? I was a customer with them previously ages ago so I had an account. They had 1 slot available this week so I assume it's a cancellation. @copasetic and @spongedog said a few pages back that ocado had slots near them, which prompted me to check on their website. £9.99 for delivery and min spend of £90 but worth it.

I also got an ocado slot a few days ago, delivered today. Just keep trying.

Yeah, exactly. And I don't have any kids, so I don't get the opportunity to socialise in a playground (as difficult as I imagine it is).

Some people are blessed with being a social butterfly and the ability to make friends easily. Others (like me) struggle socially and have anxiety and the idea of meeting up with a new person or introducing myself to a stranger in an attempt to make friends makes me feel physically sick.

Regardless of the fact that the OP has already responded to this, how many times does it need to be pointed out that not everywhere has the same rules??

Just because YOU live somewhere that says you wouldn't have to isolate in what you perceive to be the OP's circumstances, doesn't mean that you know better than someone who actually is living with those circumstances!!
Not everyone lives in England FFS.

Not got any suggestions but feel so sorry for you. A colleague of mine had caught it and is spending Xmas alone now.

Back to where my family are would be 5 hours from my husbands family and vice versa. Work also ties us down here. 99.9% of the time there is no issue and we are fine, it's just this one time that we are struggling a bit.

In usual times, do you get together often with your friends and family five hours away? I’m guessing not. So reschedule for notoriously bleak Jan as a nice post Xmas celebration and you and DH hunker down and enjoy that much coveted last minute Ocado Christmas delivery slot !

You have questioned me on everything though. My lifestyle, my lack of a car, my living far away, my lack of friends, my usual way of getting groceries as if using a bus and a taxi is a weird unimaginable thing. And even my ocado slot? You just sound as though you cannot possible believe that this is my situation.

If they were genuine curiosity then I'm sorry but it came across as disbelief and sometimes plain rude
