Has anyone lived with someone covid positive and NOT been infected?

Currently self isolating with DP in a one bedroom flat, but the layout of which makes it essentially a studio apartment.

He tested positive two days ago.

I’m waiting for my PCR result but all of my LFTs so far have been negative.

I’m triple vaccinated but it seems so odd that I haven’t had a positive test yet, given we live together in a flat with terrible ventilation with minimal space.

I work in a patient facing role and the thought of getting a negative test and having to go back to work and potentially infecting someone is making me feel sick. I am genuinely almost hoping that it’s positive just so that I can stay indoors and keep everyone else around me out of harms way.

We are staying apart as much as possible but as I’ve said above it’s almost impossible given the living space.

Yes my husband in first wave before the first lockdown. I'm almost certain I didn't get it although there was not really testing available then.

Bin85 · 18/12/2021 18:40

Yes my daughter

superram · 18/12/2021 18:42

Dh was positive Sunday. We have a reasonably sized house and he stayed in our room. Dd and I tested positive yesterday, ds ok.

OpposableThumbs2 · 18/12/2021 18:43

My DD age 10 is on day 7 and the rest of us are testing negative on lateral flows and not showing any symptoms. Keeping my fingers well and truly crossed for the next few days.

FanGirlX · 18/12/2021 18:44

Yep. DP got it in summer. DD and I didn't catch it. 2 bed flat.

Horst · 18/12/2021 18:45

My 5 year old had covid no isolating what so ever. She was all over me. Nobody else caught it.

Fizzingmad · 18/12/2021 18:46

Family of 4. First child had it during summer. 2nd child caught it last month, dh was a week later and I’ve somehow managed to avoid it again

Cam2020 · 18/12/2021 18:46

My DD didn't catch it from me! She's too young for the vaccination and for me to isolate from her. I masked up whenever I was around her and was fastidious about washing my hands, LF tested her every day of my isolation and beyond and we lucked out.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 18/12/2021 18:47

Yep, me. Shagged him and everything and didn't catch it.

Kids didn't catch it either.

There is hope!

2020in2020 · 18/12/2021 18:49

Yes. 6 year old DD2 tested positive. She shared baths with her sister, and sleeps in my bed with me. Neither me, DD1 or DH caught it.

Luxembourgmama · 18/12/2021 18:50

Yes first my husband then my daughter. They didn't isolate from the family

BumbledBee · 18/12/2021 18:51

DH got it from work. 2 DDs caught it from him. DS and I were around him just as much, tested on LF daily and 2 PCRs - all negative.

DialsMavis · 18/12/2021 18:52

Regarding specifying strain, the probability is DH had Delta but it was a couple of weeks ago and a couple of things make me think it could have been Omicron:

Friend went out on theThursday eve and then came to DH birthday party on the Saturday. On the Sunday people who had been out in th Thursday started dropping like flies (including our patient zero friend), on the Tuesday DH and others from his birthday event started feeling rough and got positive LFTs which seems to me to fit Omicron in terms of transmission and speed of infection... I sat next to friend all night at DHs birthday and didnt catch from her or as stated above DH later on.

cloudtree · 18/12/2021 18:52

Yes but it was pre omicron. Ds2 was positive and none of the rest of us caught it. He was pretty good at staying in his room but I did go in and gave him cuddles. The rest of us were all double jabbed.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 18/12/2021 18:54

Yes in the summer, but we have a fairly big house. Daughter was positive and isolated in her room most of the time. Separate bathrooms. Neither me nor husband caught it.

littlepeas · 18/12/2021 18:55

My eldest ds still hasn't caught it despite the rest of us (me, dh, his 2 siblings and my mum) all going down in October - we didn't isolate or behave any differently to usual. He has also been a very close contact multiple times through school.

Queenoftheashes · 18/12/2021 18:58

DP tested positive on Monday. I’m still negative.

NameChangeCity123 · 18/12/2021 18:58

My husband had it twice without passing it on to me

RuthW · 18/12/2021 18:59

Yes me. Dd tested positive Christmas eve. I didn't get it. I'd had my first jab the week before.

We were very careful. Windows open always. I wore a mask. She didn't touch anything I did (like remote control). We used separate taps and lots of handwashing and disinfecting.

Good luck

HeidiHaus · 18/12/2021 19:02

Only one of the families I know who've had it have had 100% infection. Mostly 2 and 3 positives out of families of 4 and 5.

Abraxan · 18/12/2021 19:04

Dh and Dd didn't catch it when I had covid last year.
Friend and teen Dd didn't catch it from friend's dh when he had it - he's just finished his isolation.

Dd has been in close contact with covid many times over the past 18 months or so, including people she's lived with, She's never had it according to to the antibody tests she's had.

Abraxan · 18/12/2021 19:05

Oh, and I didn't isolate from dh and dd, bar when I was in hospital - but not in the run up to then when I'd have been infectious. Dh slept in the same bed as me.

Abraxan · 18/12/2021 19:07

It could be an interesting piece of research to look at people who have had regular close contact but never caught it. See whether there is something about their make up which means they are less likely to catch the virus. 🤷‍♀️

Wizzbangfizz · 18/12/2021 19:10

My DH and eldest didn't get it when I got it alongside youngest

dogaibu · 18/12/2021 19:12

Me

DH had it but I didn't, was double vaxxed with Moderna.
