Hmm. Wasn’t the last 8pm prerecorded address to the nation the one where he told us that our loved ones might die?

I’m holding out hope that he’s resigning… but I doubt it. Too thick skinned.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if no one tuned in. They get the viewing figures tomorrow and realise they hardly had any audience. That might make them sit up and realise how unhappy people are at the state of no.10.

Love the idea of Boris announcing the National Party Quiz.

He turns up wearing a party hat & not even trying to disguise the fact that he’s half sloshed.

Questions are all in Latin & mostly won by Moria & Geoff in Amersham.

Liz Truss just came across well ( only my opinion!)
She comes from a left leaning family , which surprised me , and was once at Greenham common too.
I've probably got her all wrong , but she seems more competent than Boris , but I am aware that is a very very low bar of course
She has teenagers she spoke fondly about and seemed a lot more human than I imagined she would be.
I admit I don't know anything much about her voting record or anything.

A lot watch the strictly result so maybe it's at eight so people have already got the telly on so more likely to watch

Have we ever had an 8pm briefing that hasn't been a lockdown? Why on earth would they pick that slot just to remind us about boosters? Makes NO sense. It's like they are just messing with our minds....

I just worry that he's quite devious. So, he's pissed off with the press coz of the party and quiz stuff. So now, he can show that they can keep things quiet so haven't given the press the inside info and have said it's about the booster programme but actually he's gonna announce restrictions, making the press look stupid and on the back foot for the story. Also, no questions when it's recorded...

That's my concern.

Everyone's wildly speculating about what a Sunday 8pm 'address the nation' will entail, meanwhile nobody's talking about the scandal engulfing BJ. Job done.

Desperately hoping it doesn't mean we have to queue to get into supermarkets again, though. Or that poor DD will have to wait outside in the freezing cold/rain/snow for me this winter as she had to last winter.

It would have been announced earlier if it was a lockdown.

It sounds like that's just where they've squeezed it into the TV schedule than anything else. I think everyone looks the spoiler up for SCD on a Sunday morning. He should maybe ask for it to go in the ad break of I'm a Celebrity?

You’re right, but he changed the goalposts last Christmas within three days around the 18th or so. It’s only the 12th of December. He has time.

Firstly the media have build up fear regarding the new strain.
Then it’ll be increased measures (masks etc like you say)
Then everyone into a higher tier of controls
And then a last minute Christmas lockdown.

Just my opinion, of course, but I can see it happening.

I reckon he’s taking it as an opportunity to look all ‘Priministoral’ to the public at a time when he is fighting for his political life, having (as an anonymous senior Tory said) lost the dressing room!
