This is a good thread on how omicron needs to be conveyed to the public.
The gist is previously we got a bunch of graphs which showed how we would get through x bit of the pandemic and how and why we were doing what we were doing.
Psychologically we need a new type of graph which effectively 'maps us out' of where we are now.
I think this is perhaps one of the big problems right now - because omicron is so fast moving but we still have so little data about it, its really hard to do these types of predictions much less visualise them.
We ideally need something like a 'booster bend' type graph which goes up every day based on number of jabs done.
Really interesting concept of how we have to have a 'road map' to help us cope. I have to say, that I certainly used similar previously because it helped me feel like we were moving forward and I had an idea of where we were with things.
Right now, I think the uneasy feeling is definitely compounded by that lack of tool to help almost guide and hold onto.
We don't know where this is going. The range of possible scenarios are pretty vast. The dawning realism that schools probably are likely to be at less partly out at some point in Jan is depressing. The uncertainity of the next week, never mind the next 3 or 6 or 9 is unnerving.
I want a comfort graph! A security chart! I might even cuddle it in bed if I get something soon.
