"As pressure from virus rises, PM will give national address at 8pm tonight, updating the booster programme - sounds like this will NOT include new restrictions"

@RedToothBrush

Cant rebook. Cant get in the queue to rebook.

Wednesday 18 to 30 year olds get to book in before me.

Absolute fucking joke.

Slots are released all of the time, not being able to log in right now doesn't mean you won't be able to get one for ages as new slots are added daily- even hourly. Try again in a few hours and fingers crossed.
MaxNormal · 12/12/2021 20:39

Apparently tens of thousands of care home residents still haven't had their boosters.

JanglyBeads · 12/12/2021 20:39

SA pop is a lot younger, that really makes a difference with covid.

FutureHope · 12/12/2021 20:40

Possibly PussyCat.

Next press conference he’s going to be thanking us for our Great British Efforts in our WorldBeating Boost and how we have TurboCharged the national Rocket Campaign with the result that we are now Leading the World.

Or some crap like that.

Viviennemary · 12/12/2021 20:40

That was all a bit something and nothing

Benjispruce5 · 12/12/2021 20:40

You don’t have to rebook. If you have a booked appointment and get a walk-in, they cancel your appointment.

dementedma · 12/12/2021 20:40

Be interesting to see how Scotland responds. This was all England centric with the mention of money being given to devolved assemblies.

milly74 · 12/12/2021 20:40

he threatened that if we didn't get the booster it would lead to cancelled treatment and also said some appts will be suspended to concentrate on booster programme. Appalling.

Wishfulthinking1977 · 12/12/2021 20:40

Well that was a fuck up according to my local social media!! Those unvaccinated have been convinced they were right and those offered boosters (did involve a 90 mile round trip!) are cancelling them!!

SnowyWinterFox · 12/12/2021 20:41

@Benjispruce5

You don’t have to rebook. If you have a booked appointment and get a walk-in, they cancel your appointment.
yes but also worth making sure it is cancelled so others can get it. I was asked to cancel mine and did so earlier this evening.
AllThingsServeTheBeam · 12/12/2021 20:41

@Oblomov21

Thank you servethebeam.
Oh and we have a new slogan. 'Get Boosted Now'
SickAndTiredAgain · 12/12/2021 20:41

@ftw163532

There aren't even 3 weeks left until the end of the year. How are they going to train up and deploy extra vaccinators? I thought the training took ages.
I thought that. I’m sure he said it would involve training thousands of vaccinators, but maybe i misheard because I don’t see how you could recruit, train and deploy them soon enough to make any meaningful difference in 19 days.
RedToothBrush · 12/12/2021 20:41

Now i cant get in the queue for the queue

PM to give 8pm address tonight (Sunday), no new restrictions expected
milly74 · 12/12/2021 20:42

@twelly

So all the screening of other diseases, operations and other such appointment will be halted and delayed, covid will take priority over everything. Mental health will spiral as panic sets in - driven by the type of announcement. I don't think scare mongering helps - of course people need to be wary but we should be moving to normality not hyping up fear and restrictions. We have to live with this virus and carry on - children and young people in particular have been heavily impacted and need to get their lives back before they feel the hopelessness set in.

On the other issues of Boris Johnson's approach - I don't care about his breach of regulations in that they are not central issues, I think he should be beyond reproach and set an example but what happened last year is in the past. If I'm cynical I think he is trying to use the latest scare as a way of diverting attention from his political problems. Either way his actions are a side show - my view is that scare mongering needs to stop and people need freedom and to start living again.

Absolutely brilliantly put No longer an NHS but a Covid Only NHS
Fredstheteds · 12/12/2021 20:42

So lucky in a small village- sent a text last Thursday - vaccination either Sunday or weds for under 40s. Got it done

Cyrilgoggin · 12/12/2021 20:42

So much moaning!

watchingthedetectives · 12/12/2021 20:42

@Octavia174 who knows if it will displace Delta or not - there's not much good quality evidence yet
@jgw1 there has been money recently ( nothing like £350 million a week of course) but it's too little too late. It's all aimed at pushing appointments/procedures/operations through from now until the end of March but it's the same pool of NHS workers and they are knackered. There is money for weekend lists but often no one to do them

milly74 · 12/12/2021 20:42

@RedToothBrush

Now i cant get in the queue for the queue
Just leave it a while until it calms down a bit
SickAndTiredAgain · 12/12/2021 20:43

@Wishfulthinking1977

Well that was a fuck up according to my local social media!! Those unvaccinated have been convinced they were right and those offered boosters (did involve a 90 mile round trip!) are cancelling them!!
Why are they cancelling them?
Benjispruce5 · 12/12/2021 20:43

@SnowyWinterFox I think it updates overnight so the a lot will be available soon enough.

Nowayoutonlydown · 12/12/2021 20:44

so that was it? nothing new!!

ftw163532 · 12/12/2021 20:44

And how many millions of people need 2nd doses and boosters? BBC chart says only 40% of eligible adults have had a booster.

I don't see how this is logistically possible.

the80sweregreat · 12/12/2021 20:44

'Get boosters done'
Said Boris 'booster' Johnson
They could put it on a red bus.

jgw1 · 12/12/2021 20:46

@Oblomov21

What did he announce please? I missed it.
Nothing.
Borisjohnsonshairbrush · 12/12/2021 20:46

@SickAndTiredAgain

Any company that denies you maternity appointments needs taking to the cleaners. I've worked for some rough employers but never been told I can't have an appointment.
Vaccine boosters ate now highly encouraged any company who won't let you get your booster is not worth perking for. It's actually in their best interest for staff.
