"As pressure from virus rises, PM will give national address at 8pm tonight, updating the booster programme - sounds like this will NOT include new restrictions"

Guilt tripping about delaying cancer treatment if we don't.
It's not guilt tripping. It's the unpalatable truth.
PicsInRed · 12/12/2021 20:16

@the80sweregreat

Que a big photo of Boris Johnson on a poster Your booster clinic needs you ' ( if you can get an appointment that is )
Mire likely he'll be on a zip wire yelling BOOST BOOST BOOST!

Waving a little British flag.

the80sweregreat · 12/12/2021 20:16

He did look wrecked
I'm glad he isn't actually doing the boosters

Youaremypenguin · 12/12/2021 20:17

For those of you saying you can't get booked until end of December. Neither could I so I just turned up yesterday. They're not going to turn people away now. Turn up, be prepared to wait and get your booster.

fakereview · 12/12/2021 20:17

@Lipsandlashes

Someone please tell me what the point in this is. Those that wanted to and were eligible for their booster have had it. Those that don’t want it aren’t going to have their minds changed by this ridiculous charade (I’ve had my booster before I get accused of anything)
That really isn't true. My husband and I were able to book via our GP, but not until later this month. There have been some walk-in slots for over 40s but otherwise people are having to wait their turn.

But I can't see that anything is going to change - we can't all get done at once, so people are still going to have to wait.

Octavia174 · 12/12/2021 20:17

Sounds cynical but i think this more about tory in fighting (the vote next week) the by election and his party scandals.

ReginaaPhalange · 12/12/2021 20:17

"Get boosted now so I can go back to hosting Christmas quizzes"

Benjispruce5 · 12/12/2021 20:17

In my town there were walk-ins yesterday and today from 9am -6pm in various locations. DH was booked in after Christmas as he’s 49 but got down there at 9 am and was jabbed in minutes.

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2021 20:17

@Thewiseoneincognito

Given this last minute urgency, am I right in assuming they’re maybe not so sure Omicron will be as mild as first hoped?
Case numbers alone are enough of a problem even if its mild. If its not mild its a nightmare.

DH is refusing to think about a walkin as he has an appointment now and he's 'low risk'. I could swing for him.

Whinge · 12/12/2021 20:18

Guilt tripping or not, he is right. Not getting the vaccine has a knock on effect for cancer patients. Refusing to get a vaccine that will protect you, protect others, support the NHS and assist people with serious illness getting life saving treatment just because you don't like the PM is pathetic.

People who want to get boosters are being turned away or given appointments in several weeks time. It's not that people are refusing to get jabbed, they're not able to. Guilt trips about cancer treatment and overwhelming the NHS aren't helpful.

ihappy2334 · 12/12/2021 20:18

My husband who works in IT just said Boris' announcement has probably created a DDOS attack on the NHS booking website .. ie so many people trying to log on at once it will take the thing down....

fournonblondes · 12/12/2021 20:18

Of course he is right but it does not fit the loonies agenda to agree. They must be just angryyy

sashagabadon · 12/12/2021 20:18

I hope everyone complaining is offering their services as a steward in a vaccination centre, they need lots of volunteers to help. Sign up on the goodsam app. I’ve accepted a couple of shifts over the next fortnight.
Don’t just sit at home complaining, help!

Porfre · 12/12/2021 20:19

They've basically told all GP's to stop their work and jab people instead for the next 2 weeks.

ReginaaPhalange · 12/12/2021 20:19

BawJaws using delaying cancer treatments is a new low!

herecomesthsun · 12/12/2021 20:19

Maybe that is all in these, but boosting the boosting is good.
tootyfruitypickle · 12/12/2021 20:19

I've been convinced it's milder but now I wonder if they are starting to get other indications.

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2021 20:19

Would you please persuade DH this who is going 'when am I going to do that? I have a booking.'
Warhertisuff · 12/12/2021 20:19

@RedToothBrush

I'm 40. The 1st date I could book was 20th. Can't find one earlier. Shower of shit.
Friday morning my 43 yo DP couldn't book a jab until 7/1.., By the afternoon she found she could book one the next day - plenty of appointments. I expect things will change for you over the next day or so.
onewayandday · 12/12/2021 20:19

@Kshhuxnxk

Guilt tripping about delaying cancer treatment if we don't.

This really oissed me off

ftw163532 · 12/12/2021 20:19

There were delays in accessing vaccination for people who are housebound, especially if they were too young to receive astra-zeneca as that has afaik been the only vaccine provided to those who need a home visit.

ReginaaPhalange · 12/12/2021 20:19

@Porfre

They've basically told all GP's to stop their work and jab people instead for the next 2 weeks.
They won't do that as it's "not in the contract". They will expect the primary care pharmacists based within the GP practices to do it.
Cam77 · 12/12/2021 20:20

*For triggering the lefties everyday"
It's his own party that want rid now more than anyone. 9 points behind in the polls. If the clown act is all you have going for you and then the clown act no longer works, you're screwed.

Last week DH couldn’t get a walk-in but today he could. It takes a while for everything to catch up with legislation I guess.
