"As pressure from virus rises, PM will give national address at 8pm tonight, updating the booster programme - sounds like this will NOT include new restrictions"

@Nell7

IMO people refer to him as just "Boris" due to a lack of respect; not because they see him as a mate.
yup. Ive always had a modicum of respect for our prime ministers, always full name, regardless of what I really think of them, its never been quite as bad in my lifetime as Boris has been. I do try not to preface it with "that twat" or "that bumbling cunt"

Not a sign that he is liked, or respected at all.

WarriorN · 12/12/2021 18:50

Could it be his resignation? Ds has seen a tweet from Natalie Bennett in the House of Lords that the 1922 Committee have enough letters to put vote of no confidence ballot in to operation

🤞

Starcup · 12/12/2021 18:51

@Motorina

So he's just going to witter at us for the sake of hearing his own voice, then?
😂
RedToothBrush · 12/12/2021 18:51

@salviapages

I'm getting married on the 18th, ceremony at register office with 40 people followed by meal at pub. I'm so nervous it will be cancelled!
I reckon you'll be ok.

(3 week review is due on the 18th, and won't come into force until at least midnight if goal posts move again)

Wishfulthinking1977 · 12/12/2021 18:51

He can say exactly what he wants! I and everyone I know have absolutely no intention of listening to anything he says!! He governs by consent, take the consent away and he can't govern!

the80sweregreat · 12/12/2021 18:52

I think many will be cautious , but many won't
It's not an exact science , but many are covid deniers ( still ) anti vaccines, anti restrictions, anti any of it, they won't not see people because the government tell them too
They know this too!

Fallagain · 12/12/2021 18:52

@RedToothBrush I miss that. What is the craic with vaccinating kids?

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2021 18:54

@SickAndTiredAgain

Not the point of this thread, but where do people find the strictly spoilers??
@sickandtired

Twitter.

The Freeview tv guide just updated and the BBC are allowing 10 minutes in the schedule.

Yep. Articles in newspapers today that 5 to 11 year olds to be recommended and roll out being organised asap to be fast. Probably not in school setting by the sound of it.

Really? Are there any headlines on this seems a big deal
RedToothBrush · 12/12/2021 18:57

Was stated as 'leaked report' which means someone in communications said we need to prep the public, the scheduled leak is due on Sunday.

Volterra · 12/12/2021 18:58

I’m not going to put myself through watching it. He can go on about getting boosters as much as he likes. Until they more availability in some places it’s going to go slowly. My friend has just failed to get hers this afternoon as couldn’t wait the 2 or 3 hours that it would take to have her appointment. The system now won’t let her rebook, hopefully it will update later.

Trying to get a booster here is like it was trying to get a supermarket delivery at the start of lockdown.

the80sweregreat · 12/12/2021 18:58

We will be seeing Boris Johnson again next weekend is my prediction ( Saturday ?)
It'll be with the scientists and it won't be good news :(
It's all so sadly predictable.
I really hope I'm wrong though :(

Interesting as ITV were only allowing 5 when I checked...
SnowyWinterFox · 12/12/2021 18:59

I have called him Boris The Plonker for quite some time.

Babyroobs · 12/12/2021 18:59

@yellowgreysocks

Have we ever had an 8pm briefing that hasn't been a lockdown? Why on earth would they pick that slot just to remind us about boosters? Makes NO sense. It's like they are just messing with our minds....
Totally agree with this.
JanglyBeads · 12/12/2021 18:59

It’s not a news conference, just him speaking presumably. So 5-10 mins is enough even including a little analysis.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 12/12/2021 19:00

@SnowyWinterFox

You are far more polite than I am.
Borisjohnsonshairbrush · 12/12/2021 19:01

I think the review will be the day after boxing day.

Everyone has had Xmas time to punish them for the NYE/D.

They won't lockdown for Xmas it will cause chaos everyone has had enough..

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2021 19:01

Needs to be 54 letters to the 1922 committee. There are at least 60 planning to rebel on vaccine passport vote.

So numbers are potentially there but theres a difference between rebellion in parliament and letters to the 1922.

Its possible. My twitter isnt saying this atm and its set up for political stuff like this. Doesn't mean its not happening though...

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 12/12/2021 19:01

I'll just wait for the push notifications, I think. The kids go to bed at about 8, so I'll be busy when it's on. Darn.

FrippEnos · 12/12/2021 19:04
chaosmaker · 12/12/2021 19:05

I don't want him to resign, I want the LOT of them to resign, not fit for purpose and lacking anything we need in a ruling party. Like integrity, humility, doing the job for the public as opposed to themselves. They have NONE of those things. I'd love a coalition of all parties at this point. Only the best of them, obvs....

DH is more concerned about the GP result and is banging on about that
