"As pressure from virus rises, PM will give national address at 8pm tonight, updating the booster programme - sounds like this will NOT include new restrictions"

@gherdl

DH is more concerned about the GP result and is banging on about that
Result stands - Max is Champion.
Sparklingbrook · 12/12/2021 19:08

The F1 was all very disappointing, but a decent distraction TBH.

SpanielsAreMyLife · 12/12/2021 19:09

Oh great, more fucking scaremongering.

No deaths from Omicrom and no distinction between people being admitted to hospital "with" it or "because of" it.

If he thinks I'm shutting my business down again on the advice of a bunch of neurotic scientists again, he's got another thing coming.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 12/12/2021 19:13

He can just fuck off!
I will now be making my own judgment on things!

Fuckinellitsme · 12/12/2021 19:20

There wouldn't be any deaths yet though, given serious illness/death occurs weeks after infection.

Why do people keep saying this when it's clear why there haven't been any deaths yet?

My mug of mulled wine is empty already. This is a disaster.

Good for you. Stand strong 👊🏻
wolfstarling · 12/12/2021 19:27

About 10 people wore masks at the theatre today so...

Ohhhthepain · 12/12/2021 19:28

@salviapages fingers crossed for you ❤️

I need to google where they introduce shielding, even though I’m now making my own judgement on situations the idea of hearing I should shield has really upset me. Irrational maybe but I guess you can’t control some feelings.

Bunnyfuller · 12/12/2021 19:28

Resign PLEASE

Isthisthereaklife · 12/12/2021 19:33

Maybe resignation ...

repottingthescabious · 12/12/2021 19:37

i have a headache now i am sick of all of them

ChequerBoard · 12/12/2021 19:38

All the people trying to say the hospitalisations are not because of Omicron obviously missed that the CMOs and NHS England's Professor Stephen Powis said:

"Data on severity will become clearer over the coming weeks but hospitalisations from Omicron are already occurring and these are likely to increase rapidly"

FROM not WITH

CovidCorvid · 12/12/2021 19:41

8pm on a Sunday night is a bit odd. Surely if he wanted to advertise the booster programme he could do that tomorrow? Or earlier today? Hope I’m wrong.

the80sweregreat · 12/12/2021 19:41

Within a few weeks we've gone from two cases to people now in hospital with the new variant. It is scary when you think about it whatever your views on this in general or if you don't believe it's real.

Explosivefarts · 12/12/2021 19:41

@jimmyhill

Of course no new restrictions, that's next Sunday's address. Can't lockdown before schools close.
We don’t break up till 1430 on the 22nd sadly
NotwatchingSpooks · 12/12/2021 19:42

I can’t understand why it is pre recorded, what a total insult. I can understand not taking questions but pre recorded is such a lack of leadership

Sparklingbrook · 12/12/2021 19:42

Maybe he watches Top Gear at 8pm so can't do it live?

I reckon it’s linked to upcoming vote

A good day and a half of press pushing the story

Popcornriver · 12/12/2021 19:43

What else is there to say on boosters? We already know under 40s can book them and they're heavily recommended.

Isthisthereaklife · 12/12/2021 19:44

Hahahahaha yep
321zyx · 12/12/2021 19:44

It's pre recorded

Caddycat · 12/12/2021 19:44

It's just a distraction to appear in control, to get the media talking about something else than parties and flat refurbishments.

otterlybonkers · 12/12/2021 19:46

My mother died with covid on her death cert. Except she didn't die of covid; tested positive with no symptoms.
It was hard to get past initially (grief), i mean why do it this way? But you have to move on.

I remain confused by it all, eternally. People complain if the govt doesn't act, then complain when they do. All i know is, i want to get on with my life and the endless restrictions and fear won't facilitate it.

We all experience it differently, a hope of tolerance is all we have, supporting each other, assisting with each other's fears instead of ridiculing them. There isn't one safe space online where you won't get trashed for having an opinion. It's shit.

We know on MN. But everyone knows if you want to hear the news before anyone else you look on MN. Everyone else finds out a week later.
