Who is going to a busy indoor place this weekend?

I am. To the pub. With colleagues for a meal. I work for the public sector so we don't have anything formal and I've shelled out £25 for my fold. Unless I change my mind. Or test positive on the lateral flow test I've agreed to do before going out.

Anyone else got plans and feeling weird.... For info I'm mid 30s, double jabbed in July....

@ThePoisonousMushroom I went on the tube to the theatre last week and then to a restaurant:) But I am being wary now until I hear more about Omicron, because am 50 soon. If I was younger, I wouldn't bother.
Tho ofc 17 year old DS is going everywhere so may not make any difference.

Exhausteddog · 11/12/2021 08:51

I'm possibly going to work which means I will need to get the train. (Hoped to wfh but left something vital at work Blush) Which is likely to be busy.
Tomorrow planning to take DD out to a garden centre to get Xmas decorations.
I'm working until 22nd in London so not able to avoid crowded places really

zzzozzz · 11/12/2021 08:51

I will be - I had Covid a few weeks ago so think I should be pretty safe?

StormzyinaTCup · 11/12/2021 08:53

Got a wedding to go to today involving both church service and then evening reception for approx 200 hundred people (I'm expecting lots of the usual hugging, close contact etc that goes with a wedding). If it had been in the Summer, or any other time this year, I wouldn't have given it a second thought but being so close to Christmas (after the disappointment of last year) is making me a bit wobbly that I will either catch it or get contacted by T&T and I have lots to do over next couple of weeks.

eurochick · 11/12/2021 08:53

Yes, but slightly reluctantly. To a much postponed family wedding. Generally we have been pretty cautious and not been to the theatre, etc since COVID began.

Nevertime · 11/12/2021 08:55

I had a stupidly "peopley" weekend last week. Busy trains, pubs and two shows. It was only massive seen more news this week I even thought about how ridiculous it was.

However, I also have three parties this weekend (starting yesterday) and no one seems to be dropping out.

Gingerbreadhoose · 11/12/2021 08:55

Not doing anything indoors and busy now as don't want to be isolating over Christmas.

Luckily my DS is home educated.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 11/12/2021 08:58

Carrying on as normal here, although we tend to favour outdoor spaces anyway. Our plans this weekend our indoors though. Meeting family for lunch today. Indoor skating to orrow.

Husband works in a public facing role indoors with hundreds of the public a day, working right up to 23rd so if we re going to get it it will be him bringing it home.

Both pushing 40, I'm triple jabbed he's double jabbed

Stiffcondomhat · 11/12/2021 09:09

Going to a bottomless brunch with 90s disco 🥳

ApolloandDaphne · 11/12/2021 09:12

We have cancelled plans because it would be just our luck to catch covid now and not be able to travel to see family over Christmas. It's our choice.

Effibreast · 11/12/2021 09:20

I went to a basketball match with ds2 last night. Absolutely packed with sweaty teens. Plus loads of adults. 2 of us wore masks. I've had covid, recovering from long LC. Triple jabbed. Just glad I'm office based for the moment (normally clinical NHS). Hate the thought of what my colleagues are going to be faced with.

JustSumo · 11/12/2021 09:21

Went out to a packed out busy restaurant last night with 15 work friends, there were probably about 100 people in there. Was a ABBA tribute night, so people were up dancing and mixing.
I'm not a non believer at all, but still think we need to try and carry on and be as safe as possible when we can.
I'm double jabbed and had my booster this week too.

expatmigrant · 11/12/2021 09:26

Very busy pub last night and Westfield shopping centre today

Fendidntdrake · 11/12/2021 09:29

A friend is coming today and I am doing an LFT first.
I'm 51 and haven't been called for my booster yet.

Fendidntdrake · 11/12/2021 09:31

Sorry that's not a busy indoor place, just my living room!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/12/2021 09:32

Pub tonight, pub tomorrow night.

However I am worried about doing anything after the 14th; self isolation for 10 days takes it to over the Christmas weekend and I don’t want anything to stop me seeing my dc and wider family circle at Christmas.

sarah246 · 11/12/2021 09:37

@Fendidntdrake can't you just book
On the national system?

lanbro · 11/12/2021 09:37

Not curtailing anything yet, I'm working with the public up until Christmas eve and the dc have another week at school...planning on staying away from crowded places after Christmas though as have a holiday booked for new year's eve, although adults are double jabbed plus booster so fingers crossed!

vickyc90 · 11/12/2021 09:38

You don't need to get called you just book it online or go to a walk in

Fendidntdrake · 11/12/2021 10:18

@vickyc90 thanks. Sadly though in Wales you can't book. You have to be called and my trust has cancelled walk-ins

Fendidntdrake · 11/12/2021 10:19

@sarah246 no, not in Wales, I'm afraid.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 11/12/2021 10:31

Well I won't be but not from choice exactly- having a pre-OP PCR this afternoon and then have to isolate till my day surgery on Tuesday. If it comes back positive which I hope is unlikely as I'm fine, I guess a further decision about restricting myself is also out of my hands.....

BarefootHippieChick · 11/12/2021 10:35

@Stiffcondomhat

Going to a bottomless brunch with 90s disco 🥳

This sounds like my kind of day!

IncessantNameChanger · 11/12/2021 10:41

I went to a toddler group yesterday morning and was the only person wearing a mask. Same for dinner out in the evening. I'm going to a kids Christmas party today.

I'm enjoying life while we still can with all this talk of more restrictions I'm determined to live my life. If its doubling every two days we will all get it soon enough anyway.

I am past due my booster ( 7 months now) but if the latest variant evades vaccine even that seems pointless. Not sure I want my booster right now while covid is so rife as your not supposed to have it within x weeks of covid and it's looking inevitable we will catch it from the kids schools by end of term.

Bottom line for me is it's two years in. How much more of life do I put on hold for when? Vaccines? Zero covid? Herd immunity? None of the above has stopped these new variant peaks in infections. Less people are dieing than in say April 2020. Plus I'm scared any more. Yes I want to protect others but I dont honestly care if I catch it.
