Who is going to a busy indoor place this weekend?

I am. To the pub. With colleagues for a meal. I work for the public sector so we don't have anything formal and I've shelled out £25 for my fold. Unless I change my mind. Or test positive on the lateral flow test I've agreed to do before going out.

Anyone else got plans and feeling weird.... For info I'm mid 30s, double jabbed in July....

I should be doing drinks with friends this weekend. But I have cancelled as my school foundation unit has had 2 teachers and several children test positive of which I am a close contact of. So doing a self imposed self isolation of just work and home. I think again if it wasn't so close to Christmas I would meet with the friends but I wouldn't want to be the one to pass it on to friends and family and ruin their christmases.

sarah246 · 11/12/2021 08:02

The children will go to school because they have to. Probably our biggest risk.

DH will switch to driving to work where possible instead of the train.

We have an outside event Sunday evening which will be busy, but outdoors.

And that's it, it will be walks and playing at home.

This is to try to minimise our chances of having to isolate over Christmas as I really really need it to be good this year.

sarah246 · 11/12/2021 08:03

I also couldn't live with myself if I took risks and then passed it on to my vulnerable grandad or dad.

I'm off out for Breakfast with Santa at a local hotel with DS and a friend and her DD. We all had Covid late October and both adults are boosted. Her DD is 4 and doesn't remember a normal Christmas...

UnsolicitedDickPic · 11/12/2021 08:09

I'm taking DD to an outdoor Santa thing. Next week (assuming they don't bring in more restrictive measures in the interim) I'm taking her to see a show in our nearest city.

Concert last night, pub and restaurant this evening. I work in the NHS and have DC in two different schools so my potential exposure is still significant even if I don't.

AuntieMarys · 11/12/2021 08:13

I went to a busy gig last night, going for lunch today and exhibition tomorrow. 6 more social events before Xmas, as well as coffees/ lunches out.

Geminijust · 11/12/2021 08:14

Work do. 14 of us in a busy, popular restaurant. Really looking forward to it, never been any suggestion of cancelling. One person has dropped out as "worried about Covid" but suspect a convenient excuse with this particular person. Also going for a pub meal with 5 friends during the week, a Carol singing thing at a local bar, a meal with 7 friends next weekend and a trip into London to see the lights with DH & DC followed by a meal. Life goes on.....

Going to a party and looking forward to it. Also got two more parties next week. Don’t feel weird at all. Double jabbed but still caught Covid in August. Not concerned at all. I love partying.

FlorenceWintle · 11/12/2021 08:20

I’m carrying on as normal.

FlorenceWintle · 11/12/2021 08:23

Reading this thread, it makes me think of how damaging restrictions are to the economy. All the money that doesn’t get spent.

Idolovetrees · 11/12/2021 08:28

I went to a Xmas party last night and did feel uncomfortable at times. Avoided the dancefloor and just danced near my table.

There was a story the other day where a company cancelled their Xmas meal but still paid for the meals and donated them to a homeless charity. Lovely thing to do but shame they felt the need to cancel at all.

Scarby9 · 11/12/2021 08:32

I'm going for my booster this afternoon.
Hopefully, the organisers will have sorted the queuing and waiting areas from last weekend when apparently they were swamped and chaotic.

DBI78 · 11/12/2021 08:32

Yeah a arena, a theatre and a Xmas party all in a week of each other. Was really looking forward to them but nervous now.

HousethatChunkbuilt · 11/12/2021 08:32

It feels like that bit last October, I remember sitting in a soft play which was gathering up their stuff to shut down, staying in hotel in Cornwall which was shutting 'indefinitely'. What's really sad is that we've all been vaccinated since then. And nothin s changed.

ThePoisonousMushroom · 11/12/2021 08:33

Me. Out for a meal with extended family on Sunday. Then off to the theatre on Monday night. Can’t wait!

HousethatChunkbuilt · 11/12/2021 08:34

@TheTurn0fTheScrew same. Lots of colleagues are quite judgy at present at socialising, not sure about yours.

milkysmum · 11/12/2021 08:41

Went to a work colleagues birthday party last night. I'd say there was about 60 people ( adults and children).

towers14 · 11/12/2021 08:43

Went out in the city last night, no worries at all and judging by the queues/dance floor/ bars etc 1000s of others ok with it too. Hallelujah!

CaliforniaDrumming · 11/12/2021 08:43

I have to take the Tube. No other option. I think I am blowing my entire risk budget on that :(

MarcelineMissouri · 11/12/2021 08:43

We are going for a meal out tonight. Busy Christmas event tomorrow morning and cinema in the afternoon. Dh has his work Christmas do next week. Panto trip booked. We have no intention of changing any of our plans or living differently unless forced to do so.

I work in a primary school, if I’m going to catch it from anywhere it’s most likely to be from there!

We are both looking forward to getting our boosters next week though Grin

Whammyyammy · 11/12/2021 08:47

Went to a party in a pub last night, visiting family today and a restaurant tonight. Life goes on

I’m going on the tube to a restaurant, and to the theatre. Plenty more risk to be had!
motherrunner · 11/12/2021 08:48

Meal out tonight to celebrate my birthday (postponed from last week as waiting on PCR for DD).

Not cancelling any plans. I’m a teacher and coming into contact with positive cases each day. If I catch it it’ll be most likely from school.
