@LivinLaVidaLoki

Given that omicron isn't so far causing a surge in hospital admissions and the people in hospital is fairly stable.
That they said the review was in 3 weeks and not 2 and the huge publicity around the video. Is it not possible that todays presser is about addressing that? Much like they did with Hancock and Cummings?
If they said that we are far away from plan b two weeks ago then how are we at it now?
I think given the above and the publicity around the parties - plural - that they had last year most people would find more restrictions tonight to be a complete piss take from a bunch of lying, hypocritical arseholes.

FFS. Hospitalisations are a lagging indicator.

We've been doing this two years now, it is like groundhog day.

My workplace have fortunately pre anticipated that hopefully, maybe, possibly they'll announce WFH for the foreseeable future.

But I imagine it'll be loads of waffling.

If cases keep rising schools will close due to lack of staff, won't matter what the Government says. Many schools are on their knees at the moment, they won't cope with much more

@SivvyPlath

Enjoy your last minute Zoom Christmases

Not going to happen.

Won't be announced today, but my bet is on Christmas Eve.

Plunge us into Lockdown just as all the shopping comes to an end.

The sad truth is, if we'd have introduced low-level measures (SD, Rule of Six) in the Autumn, there'd probably be no need for another Lockdown.

But that isn't how Great Britain does things.

@toomuchlaundry

Remember your actions can harm others. I know the Government don’t care about other people but I don’t want to stoop to their level.

If cases are rising it’s going to impact anyone who needs hospital treatment not just COVID patients. Not just because we don’t have the beds but staff will be off sick. I’m not going to stick two fingers at the Government and risk my elderly mum’s health. More cases will mean visiting restrictions in care homes, something else I wouldn’t want.

Boris can do one but unfortunately COVID isn’t going away and we need to keep cases at a reasonable level so we can live with it, but we are not there yet

Very true but experience from Europe is that limited restrictions don't work.
Also CV is now completely endemic in the community, WFH, Masks, vaccine passports and table service will make no difference now.

There is now no longer furlough or any business help schemes

This is happening purely happening because of the Downing Street parties, to take the heat out of the turmoil he is in, we were told current restrictions would be looked at again on the 18th! not the 8th.

@BiscuitLover3679

But plan B is basically nothing? The people who want to wear masks and can swing working from home.. do! Those who don't want to will get around it. 🤷‍♀️ All pointless.

Yep.

Kicking the fucking can down the road.

Give it a couple of weeks and Joe Public will be crying out for Lockdown, so why not get ahead of the curve?

No any move is due to new variant. Hospitalisation steady without that.

“There was no party, I repeat there was no party, honest. But just in casethere actually was a party not that I was invited or knew anything about it, I have appointed an independent and very good friend of my wife to oversee a huge wide ranging investigation, with full access to the Number 10recycling bins, and we will of course inform you of the results of the enquiry sometime next year when you have hopefully forgotten all about it. And I have personally taken that woman off our Christmas card list because that is the sort of decisive action that has made me the PM I am. Now over to you Chris ....”

Regardless of Omicron, cases are sky high (and have been for yonks), and hospitalisations are a good deal over the threshold set by the government for the introduction of new restrictions.

Surely there can't be anyone who wants a lockdown?

@musicalfrog

They can't afford any more furlough so guessing they won't close shops and hospitality this time 🤞

They won't close retail and hospitality because this is their peak time of the year. After Christmas though...
