I was a little late tuning in and he was talking about daily testing instead of isolation for contacts. I can’t see it reported in the media anywhere so not sure what he was saying?

Quartz2208 · 08/12/2021 21:10

It all depends on how this plays out politically I think. Cabinet is split, Johnson is under pressure. The party is split as to how to react.

In terms of local businesses suffering, my local High Street has even before Covid become a waste of space harbouring banks, estate agents, charity shops and coffee houses.

I don't recall going to any of those much in the last three years at least.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 08/12/2021 21:17

The motivation for today’s announcement is blatant. Johnson’s position was threatened. He has reacted like a cornered animal.

I have come to the conclusion that he is a psychopath.

Superficial charm, narcissism, selfishness, impulsiveness, lack of planning, total lack of empathy.

The question is what it will take to stop him, given the utter fkwittery exhibited by almost everyone on the left wing.

Nicknacky · 08/12/2021 21:19

@EnnAndJay If you want to live your life via a screen then crack on. But don’t expect the younger generations to do so. You clearly don’t have a clue and are happy to live like a hermit. Good for you.

Watapalava · 08/12/2021 21:22

How anyone can call for any kind of restrictions - esp school closures -after what happened to little Arthur is beyond me

So selfish

All these vulnerable kids just left helpless. There’s no denying that his deterioration between March and August would have been spotted had he been in school

So many more at risk

Those still harping on for lockdown should be ashamed

vickyp0llard · 08/12/2021 21:22

@EnnAndJay I think that is totally bonkers. Only meeting friends outside and on Zoom, eating/exercising/shopping only at home? If that was the rest of my life I would commit suicide. No joke. No point being alive if it's that shit.

Quite. It's despicable really.

Itisasecret · 08/12/2021 21:26

Lockdowns are shit, restrictions are shit. I will be the absolute first to say we should never lockdown again and education must never shut down again. It has caused quite severe damage. However, saying it and believing it are one thing. Realising this Government are a shower of shit and have done nothing to prevent more restrictions, is another matter. It was as clear as day we couldn't go on as we are. What is the real shame, is they didn't sort stuff sooner.

There is NO excuse for punishing the young further. Which is what they have done. It is all about the adults. It makes me very cross. More crap to come no doubt as they won't sort the elephant in the room.

vickyp0llard · 08/12/2021 21:27

It's not the rest of your life

Covid is endemic and mutates rapidly, so I hate to break it to you, but it probably will be around forever. We can't have restrictions forever.

What's it got to do with anybody outside of the Conservative party?

It's completely in the Conservative party's hands whether Boris Johnson remains Prime Minister or not, surely?

The Conservative party put him in number 10, and they can remove him.

I'm not sure that's true of anybody else or any political persuasion.

MerrilyFcked · 08/12/2021 21:31

Oh, so now people who think lockdown might be a good idea if hospitalisations soar are despicable because of what some evil cunts did to that little boy? How fucking dare you even mention that child to push your own selfish agenda?

bordermidgebite · 08/12/2021 21:31

I hate to break it to you

Covid will be around forever but it's impact on hospitals will decline over time , a mixture of vaccination , treatment , mutations and proir infections

At that point you will be able to treat it like a normal cold

It's happened for every virus in mankind's history, this won't be different , sorry to spoil the pity party

It just takes time

HariboMaroon · 08/12/2021 21:31

@Watapalava

@TheKeatingFive

Been a lurker throughout all of covid and I have to say always agreed with posts from these two users.

How anyone can STILL advocate for shutting schools really is dispicable.

Covid isn't endemic anywhere in the world.

The more governments allow it to spread the more mutations will come up.

The ones which dominate tend to be more transmissible and have more immunity escape than the last.

If we want to go back to square one, allowing uncontrolled covid spread would be the best way to do it.

Spectre8 · 08/12/2021 21:34

Back to the threat of 1000 people in hospital dying, they said that with delta and it didn't happen.

Completely tone deaf introdcuing more measures after they been caught breaking them themselves.

TheKeatingFive · 08/12/2021 21:34

How fucking dare you even mention that child to push your own selfish agenda?

His fucking dare you decide that the covid vulnerable are the only vulnerable that matter?

MarshaBradyo · 08/12/2021 21:35

His fucking dare you decide that the covid vulnerable are the only vulnerable that matter?

Agree.

CaliforniaDrumming · 08/12/2021 21:35

I agree that we must do everything- absolutely everything-to never shut down education again.

MarshaBradyo · 08/12/2021 21:37

@CaliforniaDrumming

I agree that we must do everything- absolutely everything-to never shut down education again.
Absolutely

People have forgotten how vulnerable children can be, or chosen to forget it

Society as a whole should not allow it again

They aren't. That doesn't mean you get to use his name in this way. Shame on you.
