I wonder what they’ll say.

@Labtest7 my PT who is damn healthy has had it twice and said the Delta was the worst!

Ghoulette · 08/12/2021 19:35

It's the law but a lot of venues don't agree so don't enforce it.

And a lot do, but got so sick of being punched and spat at in Hospitality and retail last time I doubt they will bother. I know I wouldn't risk it for the measly wage they get as an OH SO ESSENTIAL worker.

There's your man guys,

www.ft.com/content/08577e07-faeb-4cd2-96ed-567151b539f6

Health secretary Sajid Javid has warned that UK daily Covid-19 cases could rocket to a record 100,000 after restrictions are lifted, warning that the country is about to enter “uncharted territory”.
That's behind a paywall.

Does the article state that there would be 100k cases a day by June? Or July?

Either way, he was like certain posters here, thankfully wrong.

Unsure33 · 08/12/2021 19:36

@AlecTrevelyan006

Yes he said he will have to consider all options if other restrictions don’t work and it shows the unvaccinated are the ones in hospital . What is wrong with that ?

Really?

So the unvaccinated either get vaccinated or shield themselves to the extreme and don’t clog up the ICU . Then the figures won’t go up . Simples . They want responsibility for their own bodies . So they need to take the right actions.

Jet2's official mask policy on exemption. I saw no one without one on our flight to and from.

As part of our face mask policy, if you’re unable to wear a mask, you must let us know in advance to be allowed to travel. Before you go, please provide proof of your exemption to our Special Assistance team on 0800 408 5591, so that we can authorise your travel. We’ll ask you for specific medical evidence to confirm this, as we don’t accept downloaded exemption cards or lanyards as proof of exemption.

Rules around those that can’t wear masks may vary abroad too. For destination-specific information about hotels and resorts, check the local guidance in the country you’re visiting on the FCDO website.

Nicknacky · 08/12/2021 19:37

@EnnAndJay Genuine question. Have you lived “normally” at all since this all began? Went for a coffee with a friend, out for dinner, went to a gym class, shopped for clothes etc? Anything that most people do in normal times.

rrhuth · 08/12/2021 19:39
@rrhuth honestly at this point I don't care if I'm shut out of everything including supermarkets. I'll sign a bit of paper promising not to use the NHS if I get covid. Or anything else, if it comes to that.

Just as long as they don't force me to get the vaccine I don't care, I can live without the rest.
I am pro-vaccine but support an individual's right to choose, I hope this country does not force you.

Unsure33 · 08/12/2021 19:39

@wincarwoo

Then lobby your MP a for everyone of us to pay more .

VladmirsPoutine · 08/12/2021 19:40

Does anyone think this is the first step in the road to a lockdown? At least a winter one.

Where does it say that a signed letter from a doctor is required?
Aroundtheworldin80moves · 08/12/2021 19:41

Can I confirm I've got this right...

We have to wear a mask at the Panto on Saturday
DH has to WFH next week
But we can still go on holiday in 10 days time, although following various test rules?

JustSinginInTheRain · 08/12/2021 19:42

I went to London the other day to the theatre. It was heaving with people and virtually nobody was wearing a mask. All packed together in a tiny basement bar during the interval.

I wonder if they will put one on now?

Johnson ran out of that press conference at the end!

rrhuth · 08/12/2021 19:42

@VladmirsPoutine

I fear that January will be restricted, yes.

Not full lockdown. But maybe some restrictions on size of gatherings etc.

If cases are 100k/day we will be in deep shit by then.

Tulipomania · 08/12/2021 19:43

Why should I be prevented from going to the cinema or theatre because people refuse to wear masks?

Why do their rights not to wear a mask trump mine to feel safe?

(Not including the medically exempt)

vera99 · 08/12/2021 19:43

Sorry my mistake having looked it up it is as above. One would have to ring them to find out exactly what they regard as sufficient evidence.

Get a vaccine then you can be safe in the knowledge you might get a cold! If your at risk of vaccine failure then a mask isn't going to save you.
@TheShallows

You do know this could happen if you get covid as well . It can cause blood clots in every organ in your body . I know someone who can only just return to work after 4 months in hospital and 3 months at home . Not old either .
I've had covid and I'm double jabbed. Not wanting a vaccine (covid or otherwise) every 3 months when vaccines cause cycle disturbance is a valid concern, and more likely to cause ongoing issues and cycle disturbance (that will in turn affect fertility, not stating the actual vaccine affects fertility) than the chance of me catching covid for a second time.

ChristmasTreeBee · 08/12/2021 19:46

All of load of cockwombling bollocks to deflect - amazing how he didn’t answer one question did he? Just mumbled his way through an answer which has no bearing on the questions

I’m not cynical

Tulipomania · 08/12/2021 19:47

I have been triple vaccinated vickyc. It doesn't prevent you catching Covid. It just prevents you dying from it.

I can't afford to catch it.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/12/2021 19:47

(Boris) wants all restrictions lifted in the new year, no more masks and no more tests once the booster vaccines have 'held' omicron

It doesn't matter what Boris "wants" since he'll want something different by next week, but even if vaccines help with Omicron we're constantly told that a vaccine-evading variant is just round the corner

Even if that doesn't happen there'll certainly be new variants each year, so IMO this isn't going to end unless folk resist getting into a stew over every last one. That's not to say "pretend it isn't happening", just to avoid the idea that we can somehow stop Covid completely

And before anyone says "But what about the NHS?", unfortunately except for emergencies (and sometimes not even then) the NHS was broken long before Covid was ever heard of

headinthecloudsnow · 08/12/2021 19:48

Does anyone know if children need to wear masks please? We are going to the panto, DDs 7 and 4.

MarshaBradyo · 08/12/2021 19:49

Where does this come from?

TheVampiresWife · 08/12/2021 19:49

@EnnAndJay

I hope those of you who fought against low-level measures over the summer and autumn are happy.

Enjoy your last minute Zoom Christmases.

What difference would UK restrictions in the summer have made to the situation we're in now, with a new variant which originated overseas?

And why do you make it sound as if it's the fault of people who were fed up with restrictions that it's happened?
