When is Plan B coming into effect? He mumbled something about giving employers till Monday when talking about WFH. Is plan B Monday??

puffin23 · 08/12/2021 18:38

Anti vaxers need to be restricted in where they are allowed to go, and the rest of us to be free to live a more normal life. people who refuse to be vaccinated are a danger to everybody else.

EnnAndJay · 08/12/2021 18:38

@twelly

I think agree with these new measures - I didn't agree with any lockdown - up and until we have followed all the regulations and not broken them once despite not agreeing with them. However, now I will not follow the regulations if they do fit in with the my actions - no point.
What new measures?
rrhuth · 08/12/2021 18:38

@DottyHarmer

What’s the point of lockdowns? We’ve done that. I think we are just going to have to crawl through this, and just accept that people will succumb to covid (including me, whaddayado) and get the Nightingale hospitals going again. Possibly there will have to be age triage in hospitals and indeed the unvaccinated (adults) at the back of the queue if their outcomes are likely to be worse than a vaccinated patient.

Such is the seeding and transmission rate of this variant that only a months-long worldwide simultaneous lockdown would work (and no fuel, no food, no medical assistance during this time) which is clearly ludicrous - so we are stuck with where we are.

This whole post is ridiculous.

Which nurses do you plan to staff the nightingale hospitals with?

What is your process for this 'age triage'? How will you compel doctors to do this when it breaches their professional ethics?

Have a Biscuit while you think things through. Properly.

WFH is Monday, everything else is a week today.

I love Beth Rigby

beckypv · 08/12/2021 18:39

I quite liked it when he said that we need to have a conversation about how we move forward once we know the vaccine deals with Omincrom…. No set plan but highlighting a very important point in that we can’t keep dealing with the pandemic by putting restriction on everybody, just because a proportion of people that haven’t had the vaccine.

onewayanother · 08/12/2021 18:39

I'm double jabbed. Not a chance will I be having a booster when it makes not a bit of difference to what I can/can't do.

Witchesbelazy · 08/12/2021 18:40

People that believe in a two tier society and ostracising people are far more dangerous than those who don’t have the covid vaccine will ever be.

Yes, I don’t see the point in it either.
HereComesTheSun12 · 08/12/2021 18:41

Virtually no masks in our large secondary either. Kids only had one dose. Many staff having to wait for boosters. Nothing they're implementing/have already implemented is going to work as it's all 'guidance'. Good question about Christmas Parties...

Same, they can get to fuck with their booster nonsense.
Imdreamingofapeacefulxmas · 08/12/2021 18:41

Not a single pupil at dds school and colleges are wearing masks? Friend said her staff room is packed and stuffy.
Will omicron rip through schools and colleges?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 08/12/2021 18:41

Sorry didn't catch it earlier but did they say that daily testing or contact testing would replace the 10 day isolation for contacts with Omicron?

Well it might make a difference to your own health Confused

sticking it to the man by increasing your risk of getting ill Confused Confused

Yes. What we’ve learnt is that lockdowns are very, very effective at kicking the can down the road. You can your cases now or at a time of your choosing when lockdown ends. Made a lot of sense whilst we were waiting for vaccinations. If we have any kind of lockdown again.. what will it be for? What is the end date? Cases will fall obviously but then once you end the lockdown they’ll be right up again.
Bouledeneige · 08/12/2021 18:42

I've just got covid (though I don't know if its Omicron) but I think I have the same symptoms - its feels coldy/fluey, runny nose, with headaches and feeling tired. But its not terrible.

wincarwoo · 08/12/2021 18:42

Why? I'm not an anti vaxxer but I can't understand your logic? The double vaccinated are catching and spreading covid still? I know several other double vaccinated people that are laid up with covid so what actually is the point in these vaccines? I can't see that it's helped at all and I'm starting to think the non vaccinated had the right idea.

It doesn’t yet but it could well do once everyone has been offered one.

It might make a big difference to how unwell you get if you got covid. That’s why I’m getting mine.

onewayanother · 08/12/2021 18:42

@rrhuth
It makes no difference to my own health, I you g, no underlying health problems and had covid before my vaccine and was fine. I was told to have it to protect others. I did. I believed them.

Staryflight445 · 08/12/2021 18:42

I’m so disappointed there isn’t any info or support to help schools through this.

On one hand they’re wanting me to stay safe as an adult but what is the bloody point whilst I have 2 children in school, where it is rife and will continue to spread at a high rate. Every day I feel thankful we’re all fine when we wake up.

It is nerve wracking being pregnant right now.

So is Christmas cancelled?

PrincessNutNuts · 08/12/2021 18:43
@PrincessNutNuts That's why I predict Christmas Eve - the sweet spot between shopping and mixing.
I've got Christmas Eve in the work lockdown sweepstake.

Changemusthappen · 08/12/2021 18:43

I'm glad the press are not letting up with the questions about the parties. I really don't think Boris understands this, he's just shaking his head. He is an absolute disgrace.

I don't understand this Plan B, I can't see what difference it's going to make. Everything is carrying on as normal. Many employers will not enforce wfh, why would they, the government doesn't follow the rules.
Surely the things that will make the difference is coming down harder on the unvaccinated.
