What does plan B mean for those without vaccines?

Nevertime · 08/12/2021 16:49

So it looks like Plan B announced within the next couple of days, which seems to predominantly mean vaccine passports and wfh.

Everyone in this household is fully vaccinated, but one important person (to us) isn't.

Presumably the passports are to gain entry to certain venues so out of those it's carry on regardless?

Does it matter why they don't have the vaccine or what age they are?

Just say you’re sorry you misunderstood and you’re sorry for @seb342’s loss. Their post was clear enough.

I can understand why someone who had lost a loved one in that way wouldn’t want to take the same vaccine, even knowing that sort of outcome is incredibly rare. It is tragic when it happens.

Angrymum22 · 09/12/2021 17:55

I have breast cancer at the moment so rely on the generosity and compliance of others to help protect me. I’m sorry you lost a relative to Covid or the vaccine but as I have recently found out life is just one big lottery. I now belong to the 1 in 8 club. It’s tough if you relative was the 1 in 100000 and I understand your reluctance to be vaccinated.
Just to add the longer this pandemic lingers the more people like myself don’t have access to the services needed to detect and treat disease.
If you could guarantee that those who are unvaccinated will not clog up the NHS for the rest of us who need it I’d be more than happy for life to return to normal but with most ICUs filling up with unvaccinated Covid cases we are heading for crisis again.

Angrymum22 · 09/12/2021 17:57

Sorry that should have said tragic not tough.I have a new phone which hasn’t yet learnt to predict

bumbleymummy · 09/12/2021 18:07

@Wakemeuuuup

It does stop with you, you've made your choice not to be vaccinated but why do you think your right to go to the pub etc is more important than mine not to want to be surrounded by unvaccinated people.

It comes down to you believing you're more special than me. I don't get why everybody must tip toe around those who have made a choice not to take the vaccine but scream blue murder if they don't have exactly the same freedoms. The freedom was the decision not to take vaccine

Why do you care about people’s vaccine status if you’ve had the vaccine yourself? Why should everyone tiptoe around you and have to produce vaccine passports for you to ‘feel safe’. If you don’t feel safe when you’re out, then don’t go out. No one is forcing you. Or you can accept that the vaccine will reduce your risk of serious illness if you catch it, get on with your life and let everyone else get on with theirs.

Plan b really is pointless

Many bars and most restaurants are seated so no masks or passports needed

Other ‘standing’ bars don’t have over 500 people so also no masks or passports

Cinemas and theatres may have masks but no passports as seated

So plan b really is nothing at all

For those unvax (I am) you can buy vax status proof all over insta gram is you look for it

Loads of sellers are selling fully vax certs

Watapalava · 09/12/2021 18:13

I mean I am vax by the way

rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 09/12/2021 18:19

@bumbleymummy, so if you are young and healthy, you don't need the vaccine, right? What do you think it would be like, if only elderly and vulnerable people took vaccine in UK? Do you think we are in better place now? I don't think so.

I really don't get you. You have a choice not to get vaccinated. Nobody is forcing you in UK. But at the same time, you do benefit from many people being vaccinated. So why keep minimizing the effect of vaccination? If UK's vaccination rate was as low as SA, I'm sure we would be facing way harsher restriction. But because of high vaccination rate, we had relatively good summer/autumn without any restrictions.

Angrymum22 · 09/12/2021 18:22

Unfortunately a vac certificate doesn’t give you access to most venues. If you have a phone which 99.9% of under 30s are surgically attached to a venue will be immediate suspicious that your vacc status is fake.
But then you wouldn’t be aware of that if you’re unvaxed.
You only need a mobile phone to scan a digital pass to verify it. The code on a fake certificate will probably not match your ID

churchofthepoisonmind · 09/12/2021 18:23

@rainrainraincamedowndowndown I have a question: if vaccines are the be all and end all, why has, to offer just one glaring examples, the continent of Africa fared so well? And why do Western countries where vaccination rates are so high seem to be in the mire? Why can nobody answer this?

That's disgusting. At least have the courage of your convictions.
Watapalava · 09/12/2021 18:24

Angry mum

They are telling QR core log ins

No one checks ID and vax passport unless your under 21 I guess

Watapalava · 09/12/2021 18:25

To point out

I am double vax

I’m posting a suggestion to those who happen to be unvax given I know people who have used them

Personally I’m no safer around vax or unvax people so don’t care either way

churchofthepoisonmind · 09/12/2021 18:31

Fake vax certificates etc (there was even a cloned app at one point I think) have been doing the rounds for 12-months. Sadly, this is the world you create when you back people into a corner. It's pretty fucking obvious stuff.

Good question
I guess soon you will get - but they are not testing,
But you can't trust they data
But bla bla bla
Guess we'll never find out

That's what they thought about India too. Natural immunity. Warmer climate. Turmeric!

Until Delta came and flattened the country.

churchofthepoisonmind · 09/12/2021 18:42

Did it @CaliforniaDrumming ? India now has a way lower death rate than the UK as well as some of the world's most densely populated cities, crowded living conditions, generally low standards of healthcare and so on.
India's vaccine uptake is way lower than the UK's btw.

bumbleymummy · 09/12/2021 18:43

@rainrainraincamedowndowndown I’m not minimising it at all. It’s saved millions of lives and prevented millions of hospitalisations. Tbh I think vaccinated people who are insisting that everyone around them needs to be vaccinated are the ones minimising the benefit of the vaccine to themselves. I don’t understand them.

Leftbutcameback · 09/12/2021 18:48

This seems to be a long way from the original question (don’t know why I’m surprised on MN). The answer is that a negative LFT will also allow you entry. It’s your pass. My view is that if we have to have a pass system I would prefer everyone had to do an LFT, but guess the govt would think that was too expensive and difficult to administer.

CaliforniaDrumming · 09/12/2021 18:49

Yes, I am Indian. it absolutely did. Many people I know who were healthy and below 40 died. Not sure if all had had the chance to get vaxxed back then, though now most people I know in the metros are.

It is the calm before the storm again, I think. Though I very much hope I am wrong.

Jacaranda75 · 09/12/2021 18:51

I seriously couldn't give a fuck about unvaccinated people being denied entry to cinemas, nightclubs, etc. Their social life does not trump the health and lives of everyone else.

Watapalava · 09/12/2021 18:54

Vax passports are not needed for cinemas

It’s unseated venues only above 500+

Jacaranda75 · 09/12/2021 19:02

God, this thread is pissing me off (not the OP's fault). I just don't get why people are making such a fuss. If you have an issue with showing your vaccine certificate, then stay at home FFS.

There really are some thick fucks on here. Seriously.

churchofthepoisonmind · 09/12/2021 19:07

Stop reading it then @Jacaranda75 , it's not that difficult. Also, are you incapable of making a point without being abusive?

bumbleymummy · 09/12/2021 19:11

There is a ‘hide thread’ button if it’s feting to you @Jacaranda75. No one is forcing you to take part in the discussion.
