What does plan B mean for those without vaccines?

Nevertime · 08/12/2021 16:49

So it looks like Plan B announced within the next couple of days, which seems to predominantly mean vaccine passports and wfh.

Everyone in this household is fully vaccinated, but one important person (to us) isn't.

Presumably the passports are to gain entry to certain venues so out of those it's carry on regardless?

Does it matter why they don't have the vaccine or what age they are?

Hmmm I’m wondering how this would work for people vaccinated outside the U.K. so can’t get the covid pass? DH has just moved back here so is a resident but was vaccinated overseas (Pfizer both jabs)

Nevertime · 08/12/2021 17:53

@madmomma

This is fucking mental. Why people are embracing this I'll never know. Just giving your freedoms away without a whimper! If course we want high rates of vaccination, but segregating people like this isn't the answer!
Isn't it that epeopen are desperate to retain their freedoms and not go back to lockdowns?

I agree the way freedoms were removed so easily is a big concern but I'd rather this than go back there. Or have compulsory vaccination.

In NI we need the passport to get into any bar or restaurant, and if you don't have one you have to show proof of a negative lateral flow. I think some big venues are actually making people do them outside if you're not vaccinated.

flimflammingo · 08/12/2021 17:58

@CJay81

The vac passports will probably just be for large events like we have Wales. Wonder if drakeford will add hospitality to them here though. I hope not cause i am having issues uploading my passport. Don't Cre about bug events cause I'm not going to those but for hospitality in general it'd be a pain.
The phone no on the welsh govt website for ordering it if you can't do it digitally isn't working either. My 78 year old mum tried to ring them and the number won't connect. It's a shambles.

I think they will come in for hospitality here.

RunAwayNow · 08/12/2021 17:59

Being asked not to be a public health hazard is not deprivation of your freedom.

urbanbuddha · 08/12/2021 18:00

I won't go anywhere that requires a covid passport. This is a completely unjustified attack on freedom. Even if vacinnes worked to stop you getting it and passing it on (which we all know from experience they don't) it would still be unjustified.

Good. That's the point of passports. It's to stop people like you who cite misinformation and refuse to get vaccinated from spreading covid.

XenoBitch · 08/12/2021 18:01

Define "public health hazard"

That must be a nightmare for the bars but reasonable for the customers?

Half of our management team are not vaccinated

They should step down from their role and let someone else have the chance

Sick to death of covering for them having isolation after isolation because they 'don't believe in it'

milkysmum · 08/12/2021 18:09

Well the whole showing a negative LFT result was a joke and should not continue anyway. All you need to do is not actually take the test but register a negative result in your name if you want to- I know several friends teenage children who did this over the summer to get into festivals etc.. ( they said no way would they risk actually taking the test and it being positive and losing the money they had paid on tickets!!!)

PAFMO · 08/12/2021 18:12

@the80sweregreat

There should be passports for those who are medically unable to have the jabs.
There are in other countries where vaccination is mandatory. I presume it would be the same in the UK for the tiny tiny minority medically not able to have any of the Covid vaccines.
EnnAndJay · 08/12/2021 18:24

Well it seems as though the unvaccinated will still be able to spread Covid as they very well please.

"Plan B" my arse.

They have to isolate due to the rules. Not their fault.

If they've got a negative rest they're less likely to spread it than a vaccinated but untested person, surely?

You can't spread it if you don't have it.

Yes, because people who have been jabbed never catch Covid, and never spread it. /sarcasm
Newfrontdoor · 08/12/2021 18:35

I had this conversation with someone on 119. You need to phone them up with all your vaccination details and they then sort your Covid pass. Hopefully this will allow DD to get her second dose as soon as she is allowed.

whynotwhatknot · 08/12/2021 18:43

i feel sorry for the elderly who will have to wait ages probably for a certificate to say theyre vaccinated all because they dont have a smartphone

gofg · 08/12/2021 18:45

I have told the restaurant that my party of 14 for Christmas lunch will be cancelling if a passport is required.

That's right - punish the restaurant for something they have no control over!!

We have vaccine passes where I am, it's really no big deal.

LaplandLucy · 08/12/2021 18:52

@Nevertime can you just not be involved? You’re not making the rules. Just say to this person oh well you can’t come as you made the decision to not get vaccinated. Sorry about that. See you later!

It’s their choice, their repercussions. I don’t see why your whole family should have plans and nice activities cancelled.

We have them in Denmark too. It is not that big a deal. Get vaccinated or get tested, if you don't want the jab.
rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 08/12/2021 18:58

They said you need vaccine pass or rapid test for entry to certain venues, so it's not as bad as it sounds? At least unvaccinated people can still attend with test.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 08/12/2021 19:01

Probably a stupid question but will the scotland covid vaccine status app be accepted in England?

Nevertime · 08/12/2021 19:04

Of course, that's how it should work but there'll be pressure from wider family to change plans and then someone will start on how it's all nonsense anyway of they should just have the jab and it will all kick off.

But if they can do a test instead it should all be fine

Doesn't bother me. I have just come back from a country where you had to show a passport everywhere. It wasn't an issue. If you are unvaccinated regardless of why - you are more likely to take up an nhs bed depriving someone who needs it so I think it's fair that they need to take a pcr or stay at home

the80sweregreat · 08/12/2021 19:10

The anti vaxxers will dig their heels in even more :(
