@tootyfruitypickle

Sunday night 8pm address to the nation does have a bit of a feeling of doom about it .

Unless he's just trying to reassert his authority and move the headlines on from his Christmas quiz. Possibly more likely!

Well he couldn't do a five PM briefing and have to deal with questions for the floor!
PrincessNutNuts · 12/12/2021 17:21

Thanks Fred.

Yeah, I don't know.

Nothing about the last couple of years makes me think covid variants "burn out"

sirfredfredgeorge · 12/12/2021 17:21

@Jangly - but until Tuesday none of the kids needed to do any testing, and could just continue going, I fail to see how tightening restrictions could possibly make things worse?

vera99 · 12/12/2021 17:22

Can the useless cunt just throw himself out of a No 10 window and do us all a favour. I've already started impotent ranting and it 2 and a half hours to go.

Quartz2208 · 12/12/2021 17:23

@janglybeads it is pretty much the levels we were shown first back in May 2020 I think to work through to get back to normal. I think we kind of abandoned it back in May time when Delta meant we would be in level 3 but really in level 4. BEcause we have been in level 4 for a very long time

sirfredfredgeorge · 12/12/2021 17:24

Plenty have! Where's Epsilon? Where's even Beta that actually got a reasonable toe hold, but I was really meaning burn out as decreased without mitigations being introduced, not sure if there's a less emotive way of writing it!

JanglyBeads · 12/12/2021 17:27

BNO Newsroom on Twitter

UK chief medical officers: "Data on severity will become clearer over the coming weeks but hospitalisations from Omicron are already occurring and these are likely to increase rapidly.

So it isn’t that people are in hosp for other things and just happen to test pos with omicron.

Didn't they all get replaced by something worse?
herecomesthsun · 12/12/2021 17:28

just got back with the kids from the local (mainly outdoor) Christmas markets & catching up

we apparently have had covid alert level increased to level 4

presumably to be explained at 8pm

Ohsofedupwiththis · 12/12/2021 17:29

BJ speaking at 8pm! Great. Hopefully just about vaccine boosters - which they have not rolled out as fast as they should!

Regulus · 12/12/2021 17:32

Now my regular Sunday night gloom has been expedited.

PrincessNutNuts · 12/12/2021 17:34

If he country has moved to level 4 and nothing is done then surely level 5 will happen soon after?

Announcing that over 30s can now book their boosters isn't going to make any difference to anything for several weeks, is it?

That wouldn't be very fair on the poor sod having to scrape him up.

ITV have a 5 minute "Prime Minister's Statement" at 8pm on the TV planner...nothing on the other channels yet.
He can't be saying that much in 5 minutes once you take all of the flibble out

MarshaBradyo · 12/12/2021 17:42

5 minutes?

It’ll just be new level

Although I’m now thinking what else you could address bomb the nation with in 5 minutes

boys3 · 12/12/2021 17:43

@AnyFucker

Maybe he is resigning 😑
That was my first thought. It’s not interfering with Strictly though.
herecomesthsun · 12/12/2021 17:44

You've got to get your priorities right.

JanglyBeads · 12/12/2021 17:44
@Jangly - but until Tuesday none of the kids needed to do any testing, and could just continue going, I fail to see how tightening restrictions could possibly make things worse?
From mid July until recently no children were identified by T&T as close contacts, so weren’t officially asked to do PCRs. True.
However now they are being if it’s omicron - whole classes are being sent home. And omicron, with its far greater transmissibility, is only now becoming widespread.

OP posts:
JanglyBeads · 12/12/2021 17:45
 • should have said no children were identified as close contacts within the school context

PrincessNutNuts · 12/12/2021 17:55

It's the pre new covid measures warm up isn't it? Level 4, over 30s get your boosters. Speak to you again soon.

julieca · 12/12/2021 17:56

They seem to be trying desperately not to "cancel Christmas". So there will be no lockdown until after then. Maybe Boxing Day?

MarshaBradyo · 12/12/2021 17:57

Still waiting to see votes on Tuesday..

It’ll likely go through but anyone change their mind

Like last year.. and that didn't go well for the millions of us put into Tier 4 a few days before.

Now they're separating the votes the ERG can do their protest vote on the covid passes.
