Wait, does that say 80% of those admissions are with Covid as the primary reason. Not admissions with Covid but because of Covid? If so that’s quite worrying. Can someone clarify this for me?
I think there's chance of this, I gave the info on hospital in-patient ratios, and those are indeed mostly covid as the primary reason, but are still mostly below 80% - 77% in London a ocuple of days ago, I provided the link in the thread, and the page linking to it is in the thread opener.
However the conversion of "admission" to "in-patient" is not 1 to 1, and sadly we don't actually know the numbers, other than most admissions do not become in-patients (or become in patients only for a very short time) so it could be that more of these admissions and near-immediate discharge are with covid, but that would seem unlikely, and even if it was, it would actually be good if so many of the cases didn't need treatment. However that is probably the more likely "drunk who tripped and broke their arm" etc. at current prevalence.
