Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

It’s my second time with covid and I described it last time as a stealthy marauding vandal. It sneaks around your body and randomly takes a baseball bat to bits of you.

LynetteScavo · 06/11/2021 10:25

Can you use your Fitbit as an oximeter? I've not figured out how to.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/11/2021 10:47

Cough is better when upright. I tried some stretching to try and sort out the leg ache particularly. Came over all sick and dizzy so am on the sofa.

I've been thinking about symptoms before the positive LFT - I have had aching legs and a headache since about last Friday. Also went really spotty and dry lipped earlier in the week, which is usually my tell tale 'ill is coming' sign. I'd have been so much more comfortable if I'd been able to not go in to school this last week. I've got so many close contacts, and none of them can be officially told it's me.

justbananas42 · 06/11/2021 10:59

Day 3 of symptoms here.

I started feeling run down on Wednesday, then tired with sneezing, a runny nose and a slight cough on Thursday. Yesterday I was still feeling run down and I noticed I’d lost my sense of smell and taste.

Although I’m on day 3 since starting symptoms, I’ve just been told on another thread that I should count day 0 as the day I lost my taste and smell, which was yesterday. So I feel like I’m back to square 1 which has made me even more miserable. This is shite.

justbananas42 · 06/11/2021 11:01

I don’t actually feel that bad physically - just like I’ve got an extremely mild cold. Hopefully it stays that way.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/11/2021 11:05

What have T&T told you about timing? I'm going by what they said. I think I'm on day 4 - started to feel a bit meh on Wednesday night around 10pm. I'd had a negative LFT at 8pm. I told them exactly that.

justbananas42 · 06/11/2021 11:09

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot feeling meh on Wednesday sounds exactly like me! And you were told to count Wednesday as your day 0?

I haven’t spoken to T&T yet as am still awaiting the PCR test.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/11/2021 11:22

Yes. When I booked my PCR, I put that I had symptoms on the Wednesday evening - I said the same when I started to fill in the T&T stuff on their website. Didn't finish the T&T website because it was all too complicated for my fuzzy brain yesterday. I still had an email a few hours later saying that day 10 is next Saturday, which counts Wed as day 0. They then called me because I hadn't finished the online stuff.

justbananas42 · 06/11/2021 11:56

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot a poster on another thread said they were told that day 0 is when symptoms start, but by “symptoms” they mean the traditional 3 Covid symptoms of temp, cough or loss of taste/smell!

reddevilunited · 06/11/2021 12:48

I've just realised I have all my days and dates muddled up.

I felt off Sunday and Monday last week. Woke with a sore throat on Tuesday had a positive LF on Tuesday and positive pcr on Wednesday.

I feel like I've lost a chunk of my memory or something the last week is a blur.

justbananas42 · 06/11/2021 12:54

@reddevilunited so what are you counting as your day 0 out of interest? And when you say "off", do you mean you had one of the traditional 3 symptoms (cough, loss of smell/taste, temp) or something else?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/11/2021 13:01

We weren't told that. Weird. Suits us though - partner didn't lose taste and smell until day 4, and we need him to be out and about for school drop off and pick up on Tuesday! Also we've run out of cheese, and I totally forgot to put it on my delivery last night. Disaster.

I'm counting Tuesday as day 0. That day I woke with a sore throat and by the evening I was shivering but burning up as well. LFT was positive that day.

I've logged all my results on the app and it says my isolation ends at midnight next Saturday.

The previous days I just felt out of sorts and couldn't put my finger on what was wrong with me. I felt spaced out I guess and just not right.

@reddevilunited it was almost certainly the beginnings of Covid though right?

partner didn't lose taste and smell until day 4

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot I lost mine on day 2 (started feeling "off" on Wednesday and lost taste and smell 48 hours later).

It was definitely the beginnings of covid. I just didn't have anything specific wrong with me to realise that's what it was.
justbananas42 · 06/11/2021 13:54

@reddevilunited in that case, how come you're not counting Sunday (the first day you felt a bit off) as day 0?

reddevilunited · 06/11/2021 14:15
@reddevilunited in that case, how come you're not counting Sunday (the first day you felt a bit off) as day 0?
Because I had no symptoms other than not feeling right. The only way I could describe it is I felt hungover.

PurpleDaisies · 06/11/2021 14:32

T and T said the day before my positive lft counted at my day zero. It was when I suddenly had a much worse headache, sore throat and really bad cold symptoms started. None of the official three. I had a negative lft late that evening and by the next morning it has flipped to positive.

My sense of smell has completely gone but not until day 4/5.

I felt off the day before but same as @reddevilunited, it was more like I’d had a really busy weekend and felt a bit like I’d drunk a bit much or was jet lagged. I didn’t feel comfortable counting that as definitely part of the illness.

OP posts:
LynetteScavo · 06/11/2021 14:47

Have you all been asked to enter a code into the Covid app? I did that, and it's telling me to isolate a day longer than I expected- the Covid notification emails says "This includes the day your symptoms started (or the test date if you’ve no symptoms) and the next 10 full days" so 11 days in total as the day symptoms started and I tested are actually day 0, not day 1.

PurpleDaisies · 06/11/2021 14:48

Yes but if you’re told a different date by t and t, go with that. My app also says a day longer. I’ve spoken to t and t a number of times (!!!!!!!!) and each time they’ve confined the earlier release date.

Has anyone else had a really achy shoulder?! I woke up thinking I’d slept funny, but it really hurts today! Wondering if it is a random Covid symptom

PurpleDaisies · 06/11/2021 15:26

Not my shoulder but dh and I have both had back pain. We feel like we’ve suddenly become oldies! I had a bath earlier which helped.

OP posts:
RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/11/2021 16:16

Yes this morning. I did a load of stretching this morning, which was exhausting (!), but has helped.

Today's biggest moan is that partner is on day 6 and is 'feeling better' (his words), yet has spent the whole day in bed/reading his phone/napping on the sofa. I am on day 3 and have spent the whole day doing childcare and cooking.

Something seems to be a bit off there Hmm

And yes, I know it's different for everybody blah blah...

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/11/2021 16:29

Oh now I feel bad. He's just appeared looking like absolute shit.

Winterwonder5 · 06/11/2021 16:53

Does anyone else feel weak? 02 sats are fine but I feel like if you gave me a pasta jar to open I wouldn't be able to summon the strength
