Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

@Winterwonder5

Does anyone else feel weak? 02 sats are fine but I feel like if you gave me a pasta jar to open I wouldn't be able to summon the strength
I just had to get DH to open a bottle of squash for me! I'm so pathetic 😂😂
Andoffwego · 06/11/2021 17:23

Worst day so far for me. I haven’t made it out of bed apart from to answer the door/go to the toilet/get something to eat or drink. My ears feel blocked, my hearing has gone fuzzy and my balance has gone. Has anyone else had that? It’s nasty. Cough has gone deeper and I generally feel terrible. Praying that this means a better day tomorrow finally.

reddevilunited · 06/11/2021 20:40

Oximeter has arrived and my 02 levels are 99%. Was a bit freaked out because when I first tried it it said 89%

So to be sure I've done it about4 times and every time it's said 97-99%

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/11/2021 21:21

Ha, yes my O2 levels have been consistently 87 - 89 on my left hand, 98 on my right hand. Best not to panic too much!

It's started to hurt when I'm breathing deeply - probably because the coughing has got worse as the day has gone on. Lovely.

reddevilunited · 06/11/2021 21:24

I've only measured on my right hand. Not tried my left! Don't know if it makes a difference.

I'm just having a hot toddy. Made with Jack Daniels. Still cannot taste a thing and I don't like Jack Daniels. But I've not had pain relief today and I'm hoping this clear my congested because I could honestly rip my nose off.

Susurrar · 06/11/2021 21:46

@Winterwonder5 that’s me just now. I have no energy whatsoever, I had to ask DP earlier today to bring the hoover downstairs and take the laundry basket upstairs because I physically couldn’t do it myself. I’m sick of it and feel beyond pathetic Sad

PurpleDaisies · 06/11/2021 21:57

Just sending lots of sympathy to everyone suffering. Flowers

I’ve felt a fair bit better today. The runny nose, headache, sore throat and, most importantly, massive mouth ulcer have all gone. I’m still generally tired but I finally feel more human again. I’ve even made (easy) cake and got some Prosecco. It’s been a week.

Anyone have this? I keep getting not a headache as such but the feeling you get when you have an ice cream almost like brain freeze. I'm not sure if it's because of my sinuses or what but it's pretty much permanently there.

Rainydays55 · 07/11/2021 07:49

Yesterday I thought the headache was starting for me but it went quite quickly. Today will be day 5 for me , feeling a little down that I feel quite rubbish! Days 3/4 were worse than 1/2, really congested, quite bad back pain and yesterday I couldn’t seem to stop sneezing. Night times aren’t that great I’m missing my normal sleep!
I’m mid- late 30s, double jabbed with Pfizer and have tried to be so careful throughout the whole 18 months, feel a bit sad that I’ve caught it . I know it’s different for everyone but is there anyone who is a bit further along and has any tips?! Were certain days worse for you? I’m able to wfh in my job and did the first few days but wondering if beginning of this week I need to tell them I need to rest a bit more, I don’t want to force myself to carry on and make symptoms worse but I feel silly because it’s meant to be mild for the double jabbed . Just a bit bleugh about it all this morning , sorry for moaning!

justbananas42 · 07/11/2021 08:00

I’m on day four today and am feeling pretty much fine, other than the loss of smell and taste.

RaisinFlapjack · 07/11/2021 08:04

One of my long covid symptoms is a bit like this - a headache but it feels like it’s on the outside of my head / scalp. Like the feeling you get when you bang your head on something sharp and you’re left with a tingling kind of pain radiating.

Not to suggest it has anything to do with long covid - generally long covid symptoms seem to be things that other people have during a normal infection but then go away.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 07/11/2021 08:08

The cough is bad here today. If I get a cold though, it always turns into a cough (that lingers for weeks Angry ), so I'm not surprised. It's a weird chesty sounding cough, that's producing nothing. Child came in to marvel at its volume!

MrsSquirrel · 07/11/2021 08:15

You don't need to feel silly @Rainydays55 It is meant to be milder if you are double jabbed, but the question for me is - milder than what? If I hadn't been vaccinated, would I be in hospital on a ventilator?

My boss had it over the summer, was ill for 3 or 4 days and worked the whole time. He was clearly expecting me to have a similar experience, but I was not so lucky. I can wfh, but I am not planning to log in again until I have no symptoms at all. My health is my priority. My boss's expectations are not my concern.

I am on day 8. My symptoms fluctuate, and my headache is still awful, but I am beginning to feel more myself.

Andoffwego · 07/11/2021 09:08

Good morning Covid buddies. I hope everyone is ok. Passing around virtual tissues and cough medicine.

I’m on day 7 (or 9. But I think 7) and the congestion has eased, thank ALL THAT IS HOLY. This has been traded in for a sore throat that feels like someone has hacked at it with a knife. Cough is so far better than yesterday but I haven’t got up yet so we’ll see. It was godawful yesterday so v glad that it’s no worse at least. My most exciting development is a very slight return of taste and smell. It’s really really minor and subtle but definitely there.

ParishSpinster · 07/11/2021 10:14

Can I join?
I'm day... 6 and still coughing but don't feel as bad today as yesterday. Day 3 was the worst for me - full on fever and flu pain. I'm isolating as much as I can from DH and Dc.

I'm double vaxxed and I now know i definitely had covid March last year - feeling exactly the same but perhaps not as scary breathing problems only this time I could get tested.

DS tested positive, I was negative then got a positive two days later, one day after symptoms started. He is fine now apart from cough.

I'm just so hacked off I've caught it! And how tired I am. I've just been getting back properly into running and I'm worried about lung function - will only get back very gently walking once isolation is up. I will take it so slowly as I don't want to end up with long covid. That's been my concern all along tbh as I know people who have endured it for 20 months now.

I'm so over it. I'm so tired of it.

Susurrar · 07/11/2021 10:24

Morning everyone, time for my morning moan!
I’ve put on one load of washing, made breakfast for everyone, had a shower and needed to lie down. Unbelievable really Hmm
The cough and congestion are nearly completely gone, still no taste or smell though.
Hope everyone feels better soon.

LynetteScavo · 07/11/2021 10:49

I'm refusing to move from my bed. DH brought me breakfast in bed (cue more lamenting that I can't taste anything) and DD came to visit me, masked up (and with a blanket wrapped over the maskHmm) - I said "Would it be too much to ask for green tea?" DD thought I was asking for a Cream Tea and told me yes, it was a bit too much. Grin

It was very nice to have a visit from DD, but I had to send her away as it got tiring. Sad

Budapestdreams · 07/11/2021 10:59

Still exhausted here after a week. Watched Strictly yesterday and it wiped me out!
My cold type symptoms have gone now but I am left more tired than ever and with nausea and a headache.

reddevilunited · 07/11/2021 11:03

I'm feeling slightly better today. I've just managed to wash the dishes and clean the kitchen and clean out the fridge! Folded the laundry and I think I'm going to go for a shower shortly.

RaisinFlapjack · 07/11/2021 11:05

@Rainydays55 - jabs or no jabs the experience seems to differ wildly from person to person. I know people who have been entirely asymptomatic pre-jabs, people who have been quite rough even after 2 jabs.

I first had covid back at the start of the pandemic. All pretty mild - kept on WFH, looking after the kids etc throughout. And I have had 18 months of long-covid. Now I tend to think I’d probably have had long covid even if I had rested up properly but I don’t know that. And I will certainly be taking it a LOT easier this time round and won’t be going back to work until I feel certain I am ready.

justbananas42 · 07/11/2021 11:08

I’m hugely struggling mentally with the fact I can’t cuddle my DC through fear of passing it onto them. I’m trying to avoid as much contact with them as I possibly can, though obviously there has to be some. How is everyone else dealing with that side of things?

I’m trying to remember that according to the science I’ll start to be less contagious from day 6 of symptoms, which for me is Tuesday. I think from that point I will just go back to normal with the DC as they will have less chance of catching it by then.

Two more days to go.

Bumpsadaisie · 07/11/2021 11:19

Just sending you all courage. We all had it in September. It was grim and lingered but we did eventually come out the other side.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 07/11/2021 11:20

@justbananas42 yea I found that very difficult but we were the other way round. DD(12) caught it first. She was really scared and tearful as she was worried about me catching it but I couldn't hug her or cuddle her as I'm at risk and needed it to stay that way!!

As it happened I tested positive 2 days later so normal hugs were resumed! It's not been as bad as I expected so now I wish I had just hugged her at the time!

justbananas42 · 07/11/2021 11:42

@SpookyScarySkeletons it’s so difficult. My DC are too young to understand why Mummy can’t give them a hug and kisses.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 07/11/2021 11:52

@justbananas42 I know, I was in tears when she got upset.

If it helps at all she has absolutely sailed through covid. She lost her appetite, had headache and felt tired and tearful for about 4 days and is 100% back now and bouncing around like tigger! It was so much easier than I had expected and I had been filled with dread about one of the DC catching it. She has been more poorly with a common cold! So I would try not to worry too much about the what ifs?
