Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

Anyone else keep having hot sweats even tho temperature is normal?

zobalina77 · 16/11/2021 17:30

I've been out of isolation since Wednesday last week and thought I was fine. Not been out much as ds was still isolating so yesterday was first day out the house. I went for a uni day and the exertion of going on the bus for 30 minutes and then a 15 minute walk almost did me in. I was really breathless and felt really faint in class. So I'm not as over it as I thought. Ds13 has come back from school and gone straight to bed so he must be exhausted too.

Etching · 16/11/2021 18:17

I’ll let you know Vampy 😂, when my temperature returns to normal. I’d love to have the energy to change my sheets 😬.

Still early days Zobalina, hopefully you’ll both feel stronger as the days go by.

Have to say that so far I think it’s not as bad as I had imagined it would be but I’m only on day 2.
Still in very bad head cold territory here.

I take vitamin d anyway as recent blood tests showed it was low but is anyone taking any other sort of vitamin to help them?

Budapestdreams · 16/11/2021 18:54

Yes, I've been having hot sweats/flushes too. Thought it was just my age, but I don't usually get them.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 16/11/2021 20:45

Just for a light at the end of the tunnel - I'm on day 13 and I feel mostly fine. This time last week was awful. I could smell onions frying earlier and could taste an orange, so hopefully that's coming back too.

Hang in there. Or sit in there.. under a blanket in front of shit telly, wearing sunglasses.

Rainydays55 · 16/11/2021 20:50

I’m on about the same day as you @RuleWithAWoodenFoot, I’ve worked from home the last two days doing slightly shorter days than normal, I thought I was doing quite well today, went for a 20 minute walk after I’d finished work then tonight I feel a bit sicky / head fuzzy again ☹️, is it normal for symptoms to come and go? I guess it’s just rest and time….?

DrMadelineMaxwell · 17/11/2021 07:33

Last day of isolation. Im a lot better but not completely recovered and waiting to hear from the gp re a sick note as my breathlessness (covid or asthma I'm not sure) is not good still.

Ordinarily I'd risk going back and try take it easy. But I'm a primary teacher and the covid situation is crazy in my school. We are several staff members down so I will have to be able to hit the ground running when I go back. At the moment climbing the stairs has me out of breath as does talking for any length of time.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 17/11/2021 07:46

Yes, was same for me on Monday - was in an absolute shitstorm by 8.10am! But it was ok yesterday. My classroom is 4 flights of stairs up which was a bit of a shock. I've done my normal 10,000 steps since first day out though, and have been fine. Going to bed earlier though- tired by 8.30.

Vampyhooch1987 · 17/11/2021 07:57

Day 6 for me. Chest still feels a bit tight but less rattly (if that makes sense). Energy levels improved a bit. Though woken up with blocked ear on one side. Feels more like an extremely heavy cold aside from the chest issues at the mo

Etching · 17/11/2021 08:54

Day 3 here (I think) and I don't feel worse, my head feels a bit clearer. My back is aching from spending so much time in bed.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 17/11/2021 09:24

Day 4 for me. Head cold plus fatigue plus stabbing pains in random places. Managing to wfh though for a few hours each day so far.

MrsTumbletap · 17/11/2021 13:36

I'm day 11 and still feel awful.

Feel dizzy, ears constantly feel like they have popped, throat glands hurt and neck in general feels painful.

Still feel sick and getting hot flushes. It seems to be when I talk I get all hot and go really red, but temp isn't high.

Anyone else finding the temp flushes really strange?

Yes. Same here. Usually I get cold quite easily but I’m 6 days in and haven’t felt cold once. The only way I can describe it is like your body feels hot from inside but yet doesn’t feel hot to touch?

I keep getting random hot flushing episodes too where I start sweating but no temperature. So random

yellowstoneranch · 17/11/2021 14:59

I'm about the best I've felt since last Tuesday. Did a 12 hour sleep overnight but now lying on sofa again feeling like I need a nap. Eats keep popping today and sinuses feel like they want to clear so hopefully I might feel like leaving the house at the weekend and have a short walk

Vampyhooch1987 · 17/11/2021 18:07

Anyone else really out of breath when trying to walk up stairs etc?

ParishSpinster · 17/11/2021 18:35

@Vampyhooch1987 yes! It upsets me actually, I am reasonably fit but I am huffing and puffing just going up a few steps. It feels like my lungs just aren't working.

Dontlickthetrolley · 17/11/2021 18:59

Sending my 9 and 10 year old to bed at 7pm as I need some sleep, they are not impressed!!!

Rainydays55 · 17/11/2021 19:00

What day is everyone on now? Frustrated that I’m on day 14 and still not feeling with it!

Day 17 and I'm still off work. Still feeling exhausted and floaty a lot of the time. Not too breathless but every now and then have to make a conscious effort to take a deep breath as I feel like I'm not getting enough air in. Still no smell or taste and still getting symptoms that seem to rotate through a cycle - congestion followed by headache followed by sore throat then back to congestion. No concentration or motivation so spend most of my time staring at Court TV and not really taking anything in.
MondayYogurt · 17/11/2021 20:05

Day 23 - throat raw from coughing, sinusitis. DH was OK and now listless again. No oomph.

Vampyhooch1987 · 17/11/2021 20:17

Did anyone need treatment for their chest/cough?

I don’t have a temperature so don’t think I have an infection but my chest is actually hurting when I cough now and it sounds so rough like I’ve been smoking for 40+ years or something 🤨

Thisisworsethananticpated · 17/11/2021 20:43

Day 10
Still wiped
I worked two days but think I need a sick day tomorrow and I’m regressing

I’m like what the fuck would I have been like if I hadn’t been vaccinated

Andoffwego · 17/11/2021 20:53

Day…17…18…something like that. Although I still felt ill this morning, I managed to have a decent morning - went to the shops, had lunch out etc. I was saying how I seem to be on the mend and am noticeably getting a bit better every day and at this rate I’d be back at work on Monday.

By 2pm I was exhausted and falling asleep. By 3, I was wheezing and coughing so much that I couldn’t get my breath at all. By 4.30 I was in bed feeling dreadful, aching everywhere, short of breath, sore chest from coughing, wobbly and dizzy. Work on Monday not looking so likely now.

yellowstoneranch · 17/11/2021 22:09

I think I've lost my taste and can only just about smell things like bleach suddenly. Is this a thing after a week?

Andoffwego · 17/11/2021 22:17

Yes - happened about 5 days in for me but it varies.
