Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

As much as I don’t want you to feel crappy too this is at least reassuring me a bit. Are you really really bored of it and feeling a bit panicky like you’ll never feel ok again? I can’t imagine even going for a walk for half an hour let alone all the gym and running that I used to do 4-5 times per week.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 15/11/2021 09:01

Andoff
I think your symptoms are pretty much spot on what everyone has , I certainly do
I’m taking today to rest and then I might start to stagger a return back

What’s been hard is my house is being renovated so I’ve done this with sharing a bed with ds2 , no kitchen , no washing machine and perma dust everywhere

Brutal
Onwards everyone
To be honest the main thing that’s helped is total rest , and co-codamol and nytol at bedtime to totally knock me out

Onwards covid people

Thisisworsethananticpated · 15/11/2021 09:02

And yes I can’t imagine feeling normal again
I look at the two weeks I had in the run up and wince

That sounds absolutely brutal indeed! I remember when I was in my teens my parents had our kitchen replaced which also involved one wall being knocked down. This happened to coincide with snow for the entire 2 weeks it took and all 4 of us catching flu. No heating, just a bit of plastic sheeting on one part of the house to protect it from the elements, workmen everywhere, all of us stuck in bed/throwing up/hallucinating. I look back on it with a sort of spirit of the blitz feeling. Hopefully you will see this the same way in years to come like some sort of inspirational family legend.

Nytol is a good idea. Buying some Nytol can be my one activity of the day. Yesterday’s activity (buying a takeaway Costa and doing a slow 6 minute circuit walk of the little park) put me back in bed for 6 hours afterwards so this should be interesting.

I'm frustrated with it. Out of 4 people in this house who tested positive I am the only one who hasn't recovered. The other 3 feel a bit tired but are back to their normal lives. Mind you I am the only one who had a really bad reaction to the vaccine (both times)
teaandtoastwithmarmite · 15/11/2021 09:17

I feel the same. Have been taking nytol too as when I feel run down it messes with my anxiety so I'm finding it hard to rest at night. I'm claiming the little victories right now. For example I'm working downstairs today and I managed to bring the washing basket downstairs just now. Grin

JamieFraserskiltspeaksout · 15/11/2021 09:36

Can I join? I'm on day 3.. heavy cold, forehead pain and eyes so swollen I can barely open them. I don't feel completely *terrible but I have got stabbing pains in my lungs which started this morning... Now I'm scared.
Anyone else getting intermittent stabbing pains - awful when I have a bit of a cough. I'm scared to move.

JamieFraserskiltspeaksout · 15/11/2021 09:37

And I hope all the current sufferers make a speedy recovery Flowers

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 15/11/2021 10:03

@JamieFraserskiltspeaksout hope you're ok. I had stabbing pains but not in my lungs.

Etching · 15/11/2021 11:24

I had a PCR yesterday, + result this morning so I am not quite sure what day that is tbh. I feel rotten, I've got stabbing pains in my lungs, pounding headache, very sore throat, my eyes hurt and I am coughing a lot (not all the time though). Asthmatic so slightly concerned. My temp is 38.5 with paracetamol.

I've just had a bath and feel like I need another one.

Boiledeggandtoast · 15/11/2021 12:31

@RoseGallica

Well day 28 here. Have had a few good days but feeling totally wiped out and weak again today. Days 1 - 5 fever, chills, sweating, Headache, aching all over, dizziness, gagging. Since then fatigue and vertigo but now feeling like I will feel like this forever. So fed up.
RoseGallica I'm at exactly the same stage as you (day 29 today). I felt a bit better last week and managed to go in to work (I only work mornings) but spent the afternoons resting on the sofa. I bombed again yesterday with bad headache, fatigue and nausea, and am off work again today feeling completely wiped out. And fed up!
RoseGallica · 15/11/2021 12:45

@Boiledeggandtoast. So sorry - it’s so depressing isn’t it? I had the headache from hell again last night. Slept really well last night and felt a bit better this morning. Managed a couple of hours wfh this morning but now back in bed with dizziness and nausea. Hoping someone can offer hope......

Thisisworsethananticpated · 15/11/2021 12:50

Andoffwego
I’m trying not to feel too sorry for myself but I’m on my knees ! I literally want to burn this house down to the ground now

This virus is an ever evolving one isn’t it ?
So my crashing headache and sinus pain have abated somewhat
To be replaced by dizziness and nausea
And my friend no energy , still with me
Loyal and faithful

It’s like a merry go round of shite symptoms that never fuxking end

Thisisworsethananticpated · 15/11/2021 12:51

Snap rose 🌹!!!
It’s almost laughable
Except it’s total shite

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 15/11/2021 12:52

Went for a walk even though still in isolation. Tbf it was allowed as it was with DD to post her pcr test. It really helped with my blocked nose and headache but now I feel nauseous. It's doing my nut in now!

Boiledeggandtoast · 15/11/2021 12:57

RoseGallica You have all my sympathy, I hope you feel better soon. It's bizarre how the symptoms come and go but are so debilitating when you're in the throes of them.

Boiledeggandtoast · 15/11/2021 12:58

Extending my sympathies to all those suffering at the moment...

JamieFraserskiltspeaksout · 15/11/2021 13:09

@teaandtoastwithmarmite Thank you so much!

@Etching - not just me then. Mine isn't getting worse so I'm not scared anymore. When it came on quickly I worried.

Keep going everyone - hour at a time Brew

Etching · 15/11/2021 13:14

Jamie, no not just you, it isn't getting worse for me either.

I am so bored already, too ill to do anything, had too much sleep, can't be bothered to read or watch anything.

I am just laying here like a zombie. I am usually really busy in life, I can't do anything atm.

CocoaBella · 15/11/2021 13:15

This thread has been so helpful. Flowers to everyone still suffering - it's a really nasty virus.

I'm on day 8 now, the first 4 days were the worst with sinus pain, runny nose, endless sneezing, chest pain and watery sore eyes. I wish they would update the symptoms list! Fever didn't kick in until day 3.

The "cold" type symptoms went by day 5 and I thought I'd turned a corner, but I seem to have gone downhill slightly again and been left with awful fatigue and horrible brain fog. It takes so much energy to concentrate on the simplest of tasks. Despite me snotting and sneezing everywhere for days, none of the rest of my house have picked it up, which baffles me!

CountingDownToBedtime · 15/11/2021 13:54

Am on the last day of isolation today, and due back into work tomorrow. Was told to ring the absence line this afternoon,to let them know if am fit for work tomorrow.Woke up at 3am this morning sweating, back of my neck and pyjama top wet, then couldnt get back to sleep until nearly 5am.Think I will tell them am not fit to go back into work yet,as am so tired!!
I work in catering so I just know that will be expected to carry on as normal, which I think will wipe me out again. Its so frustrating.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 15/11/2021 14:15

I'm getting concerned with this sinus pain and headache. Tried not to take anything today but had to take some Sudafed in the end. GP surgery is useless.

AnneOfCleavage · 15/11/2021 14:43

Quite glad I found this thread. I'm day 4 and feel like I have had mostly all she symptoms:
Shivers but hot as temp 38.6
Sneezing
Runny streaming nose
Hacking cough like one I've never had before ever
The most painful throat - feels like I've torn the skin from violent coughing. Please say that's not a thing.
2 hour bouts of sleep
Foggy Woolley head
Ringing and sore ears
Sore bones in my legs
Headache that's ever present

Today day 4 I have no smell or taste now so it's the ever giving virus.

I'm eating a bit now and drinking lots of squash and hot Ribena and resting on the sofa or in bed as I'm not one to power through. I'm a go to bed and get it over with type person. Read somewhere that powering through and fighting it can lead to long COVID which is scary.

It's comforting to know others are in the same boat although I'm so sorry you're suffering too.

Rainydays55 · 15/11/2021 14:45

Day 12 for me, managed to work from home 8.30-2, going to do half days for the first couple of days… I felt good to do some work but still not feeling that good… fuzzy head and felt a bit tight chested.. I just can’t see how I ll be at the point where I can do full days back in the office. I’m so worried I will have symptoms that don’t go away.

SalamanderSally · 15/11/2021 14:46

Omg I need this thread - am on day 6 or 7...god only knows which it is. I feel like death. I have been given an oximeter and have to record results 3 times a day as even moving causes me to struggle to breathe.

I've been taking co-codomol to help with the pain but I've seriously had enough of this face pain that come with sinus pain.

I've never felt anything like it
