Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

Day 6 and I'm fed up and impatient with not really improving, which is crazy I know. Smell and taste have definitely gone, I stuck my deodorant stick right up to my nose and couldn't smell a thing. In the grand scheme of things I think I've probably got off lightly but my nose is so sore and congested however when I blow there's very little reward. I'm also tired but not tired, as in physically I just feel a sense of exhaustion but not sleepy, very weird.

I just feel a sense of exhaustion but not sleepy

That has been me too. I've not slept any more than usual - if anything, less I think. My partner however, he slept 18+ hours a day for the first week.

It's comforting to know we're not alone in how we feel. I guess the issue is not to confuse the end of isolation with the end of symptoms, they have absolutely nothing to do with one another. ❤️💐

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/11/2021 16:52

Completely agree. I've made progress today in that I've lay in the sofa all afternoon instead of in bed. I think we have to remember to rest when we need to. DH is annoyingly ok though lol

MondayYogurt · 13/11/2021 19:01

Out of isolation but need to moan because I have added conjunctivitis AND diarrhoea to my list of ailments.

Not even feeling that much better from coronavirus TBH. Feels never ending.

Rainydays55 · 13/11/2021 19:11

Oh no @MondayYogurt, how long ago did you have Covid?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 13/11/2021 19:22

Sounds like a reasonable moan! I've got 4 hour and 40 minutes to go... let's go crazzzzzzzz...

Leftbutcameback · 13/11/2021 19:25

One of my friends dropped off a care package earlier - so nice! Particularly excited by the sleep spray and the posh tissues

Rainydays55 · 13/11/2021 19:29

Snap @RuleWithAWoodenFoot!! I just can’t get excited about it because I still don’t feel marvellous!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 13/11/2021 19:34

I'm going to the garden centre tomorrow. Exciting.

InsanelyTired · 13/11/2021 19:46

Can I join in the moan please.
On day 6, and feeling really down in the dumps. me and dp both positive, while our 5 and 2 year old are both negative (they both had it 8 weeks ago). Trying to tag team looking after the kids whilst feeling like crap.

How long did it take everyone to get their taste / smell back?

MondayYogurt · 13/11/2021 19:51

@Rainydays55 First symptoms were 3 weeks ago. But lateral flows and PCR all negative. Then when it continued and got worse tested again and bingo! Cue proper isolation (I stayed in from the start anyway).
I just can't face another layer of illness, I feel like one of those people they show in old films who've been shipped off to the mountains for consumption.

MondayYogurt · 13/11/2021 19:54

Just to add, thought I was getting smell back a couple of days ago but it seems to have disappeared again. Actually quite useful considering the diarrhoea.

yellowstoneranch · 13/11/2021 20:29

Had a bad nights sleep, utterly exhausted today - have pretty much laid on the sofa all day, snoozing between watching rubbish on tv

Rainydays55 · 13/11/2021 20:31

@yellowstoneranch that’s probably the best thing you can do though, don’t feel bad, that’s all I’ve done all week really is lie on the sofa , tried to tell myself it was slightly better than being in bed lol! As frustrating as it is I think rest is the best thing for our bodies.

MidLifeResurgence74 · 13/11/2021 21:03

@Rainydays55

I’m feeling a bit sad tonight that tomorrow is my last day of isolation and I’m just not feeling back to normal. Ridiculous isn’t it, I know I shouldn’t moan, I’m lucky that it’s been ‘mild’ but I sort of feel weirdly emotionally knackered and just a bit crappy about the whole thing! The floaty feeling is doing my head in , I’m tired and I’m worried I won’t feel like ‘me’ properly for ages! Sorry to moan, so many more people are doing absolutely amazing especially with small children, I just wanted to get it off my chest, I’m trying not to moan too much in real life!!
This is me! I feel really quite despondent. I’m on day 9 of isolation and although no longer have a temperature, I’m still wiped out both physically and emotionally.
LittleBoxes · 13/11/2021 21:23

On Day 16, feeling fine (no nap today!) and I thought taste and smell were back to normal … until I took a sip of my first glass of red wine for more than two weeks. It tastes of hardly anything Sad

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 13/11/2021 21:50

All I did was sit on the sofa and watch telly. Didn't even nap. Napping sounds constructive. I watched so many box sets.

I've decided I'm going for a swim tomorrow. Which means going to the gym, sitting in the steam room (hoping to shift the blocked up feeling), then having a drift around in the pool.

elliesmummy19 · 13/11/2021 21:50

This sounds really bizarre but has anyone had limbs that feel weird? Bit hard to describe. They feel sore of warm and weak I suppose. I do have a fever so may just be that. They just feel odd.

Definitely spoke too soon when I said I was asymptomatic yesterday morning!

elliesmummy19 · 13/11/2021 21:52

I also really feel for everyone who's lost their sense of smell and/or taste. I always lose my sense of smell and taste even with very minor colds (haven't lost them with Covid yet though) and it's utterly depressing. I recently had terrible sinusitis and was miserable because I couldn't smell and taste.

yellowstoneranch · 13/11/2021 21:55

@elliesmummy19 my back has stopped aching like hell but my shins hurt .... like the actual bone is aching. Not my joints, literally the shin bone - it's very weird but is that what you mean too?

Leftbutcameback · 13/11/2021 23:15

@elliesmummy19 do you mean like floppy and no strength to do anything in your arms? So if someone lifted one up it would just flop down like a dead weight. I often have that weird feeling if I get a virus. Had it a bit this time, but not so much. I still have terrible ringing in my ear though!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 14/11/2021 00:17

Oh yay....felt like I could eat normally today for the first time - can taste most things but others just taste wrong.

And now I'm stuck on the loo!

Andoffwego · 14/11/2021 07:44

I’m over two weeks in and the shortness of breath has only started in the last couple of days. My sats are fine but it’s horrible. I’ve woken up with a bad headache this morning and still generally feel like a wet rag.
