Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

I had to ring my GP today about the nausea and dizziness. She says it sounds like labyrinthitis, as the virus has prob affected my ears, nose and throat, which is not uncommon. She’s prescribed anti sickness tablets.

troppibambini6 · 11/11/2021 21:17

@Florencenotflo I would go and get one as @Andoffwego said it will put your mind at rest both me and ds had negative LFs. Mine only showed on day 3 (when I was really ill and had already had a positive pcr) I was just curious as to if they actually worked at all!!

I felt like I'd turned a corner this morning but feel really bad again tonight.
This virus messes with your head. You think you've cracked it then it comes and smacks you in the face again.

My blood oxygen readings are quite low again tonight so I'm keeping an eye on it.

Hope everyone is ok?

@LittleBoxes that's so good to hear thank you Smile

I've had a better day in feeling less 'all round crappy', but the headache reappeared this evening. My last bit of ability to taste has disappeared too. Had a jacket potato with cheese and sweetcorn for tea, could taste none of it. Bit shit.

Me and partner moved a table into the garage earlier. My pulse went up to 126 - mad! We both had to sit down afterwards.

Am hoping to be able to work a bit tomorrow.

FrangipaniBlue · 11/11/2021 22:01

@Florencenotflo I had negative LFTs including one on the day I had a positive PCR......

There are currently a dozen or so of us who all have Covid after being at an event together at the weekend, only 3 actually had positve LFTs, the rest of us were all negative Confused

Leftbutcameback · 11/11/2021 22:17

@Florencenotflo I only got tested because the Zoe app asked me too - just had mild cold symptoms. Had negative LFTs including one today (juts curious!). My PCR taken on Monday was positive.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/11/2021 22:20

I'm too chicken to do the antibody test.

PurpleDaisies · 11/11/2021 22:21

@Florencenotflo

I'm half way through reading the thread so apologies if this has been mentioned or talked about. But I have a lot of the symptoms that have been mentioned, sneezing, runny nose, blocked sinuses, headache, was very cold last night for a while and was shivering at one point. No cough, or very occasional when my nose runs down the back of my throat 🤢

But my LFT's are showing negative. I test every other day (something encouraged by work even though I'm home based). I'm wondering whether to book a PCR for tomorrow anyway.

Would I get a PCF with 4 negative LFT's in the past 8 days?

Have a look at what the Zoe app says the most common symptoms are now in double vaccinated people. I would book a pcr. Hopefully it will be negative but it’s best not to take a chance.

I didn’t find it too bad. The pot was intimidating but filled really quickly. I was really pleased to find out I had antibodies and I loved being allowed out walking to the post box to send it. Thad made it worth it.

That. I don’t know who Thad is!

I really dithered - I HATE those spikey things that you have to make the hole with. On the instructions they fail to put the line 'Squeal a bit because it definitely isn't just a sharp scratch' between 'Press the stabby thing into your finger'.

But I did it. It was actually easy - filled the tube really quickly.
@PurpleDaisies thanks for starting this thread and telling me about it (on a thread I wrote when I first had a headache). I think it's saved my sanity. Hope you start to feel better soon Smile
Just spotted this. Really glad it’s been helpful. I’ve found knowing other people were going through the same sorts of things really helpful, especially in not worrying too much about how I was feeling. Thank you to everyone that’s chatted here.

I’ve had a pretty good day. I still needed a nap mid afternoon but generally I’m not that far off normal again. Frustrated that my sense of smell is still a bit pathetic but that seems a small thing to have left over in the grand scheme of things.

Rainydays55 · 11/11/2021 22:52

What day are you on now @PurpleDaisies

PurpleDaisies · 11/11/2021 22:54

I’m day two beyond isolation. It seems like a distant memory!

OP posts:
Rainydays55 · 12/11/2021 07:33

I think this is day 10 for me (last day of isolation tomorrow) and I’ve woken up feeling tired again! My legs ache and I feel a little sniffly , am I expecting too much to feel completely back to normal by this point?! I’m trying to rest as everyone says but I’m worried it’s taking longer than it should do and I’m really worried about work next week, it will just wipe me out?

SpookyScarySkeletons · 12/11/2021 07:58

I'm freeeeeee! Yippee!! I mean I'm not going anywhere but at least I can go out the front door without worrying about the test and trace all seeing eye 😂😂

Cough still lingering a bit but I'm 99% better now

SpookyScarySkeletons · 12/11/2021 08:00

Don't blame you. I have to deal with enough bloody finger pricks as it is so I didn't sign up for it.

DH did... he opened the box, saw the stabby thing, visibly paled and put it all back in the box.

bloodyhoodedeyes · 12/11/2021 08:55

@SpookyScarySkeletons I'm free today as well.. I think this evening I will 100% be going and getting a glass of wine.

reddevilunited · 12/11/2021 08:59

Last day of isolation for me. I still can barely smell and have no taste. I'm feeling much better but still weak and tired after doing anything simple. I've managed to put my back out somehow. I think it is sciatica but I'm not sure. That's causing me more annoyance now than the covid.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 12/11/2021 09:13

Day 9 for me today - another definite step 'up'. Just feel ordinarily crap, like I might after a bad night's sleep, compared to like I've been hit by a bus.

Also got a very tiny hint of Vicks smell this morning when I shoved my nose right into it, which is another small win.

Going to do a couple of hours work to prep for next week (a nice low key week for my class and me), then do some more napping.

Neversaygoodbye · 12/11/2021 09:36

Day 5 and I've lost my sense of taste and smell, very weird. My rash has faded and pretty much feel like I've got a very bad chesty snotty cold (constant sneezing) with extra tiredness. My DS 14 is on day 8 and was feeling better yesterday but then his temperature spiked in the evening and he felt poorly again. I'm wondering does anyone know whether they expect the kids to go straight back into PE? He's doing GCSE PE and will have a double lesson his first day back but I'm worried about him exercising too soon?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 12/11/2021 09:43

I'm wondering does anyone know whether they expect the kids to go straight back into PE?

Ha - I've got to teach PE on Monday morning at 9.15.

Just write a note and be done with.

elliesmummy19 · 12/11/2021 10:06

I've just tested positive as of this morning.

I only got a test because I'd been identified as being in close contact with someone. I had a slight tight chest on Wednesday (but I have Lupus so often get this). Absolutely symptom free now though.

I'm gutted! I feel like it's even more disappointing because I don't even have any symptoms.

I have a two year old who hates being at home so this is going to be a struggle.

Grumble grumble!

PurpleDaisies · 12/11/2021 10:10

Sorry to hear that @elliesmummy19. I hardly had anything when I tested positive and then it got worse over the next few days, then got better again. It might be worth getting some easy meals and emergency entertainment in just in case. Really hope it is just a boring ten days at home. Flowers

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 12/11/2021 10:11

Give it time! I had positive LFT at 6.30am, positive PCR at 8.30am. By the time the results came through at midnight, it was obvious.

Or you might be lucky. Fingers crossed for this option! Means you can at least try and occupy a 2 year old. Our poor 7 year old just watched TV for 8 hours last Saturday and 8 hours last Sunday.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 12/11/2021 10:12

Yes - I agree with that too. In the first couple of hours after the PCR test I got a food and medical supplies delivery sorted and made soup.
