Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot

Give it time! I had positive LFT at 6.30am, positive PCR at 8.30am. By the time the results came through at midnight, it was obvious.

Or you might be lucky. Fingers crossed for this option! Means you can at least try and occupy a 2 year old. Our poor 7 year old just watched TV for 8 hours last Saturday and 8 hours last Sunday.

We have quite a lot of left overs in the freezer and my mother-in-law was going to pick up some food for us and will drop it in our doorstep this afternoon. Husband works 9-5. I'm already counting down to 5 o clock (and nap time) 😂

I will try to keep the day as structured as possible so I don't lose my mind.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 12/11/2021 10:18

Yeah, I'd say that isolation is easier if you are actually ill - I haven't cared about not being allowed out at all, I've literally been on the sofa for 8 days.

Maybe get some 'vice of choice' added into a delivery.

I have asked for wine 😂

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot well thanks for your helpful reply. I didn't realise I wasn't supposed to express concern for my son in case there were teachers on the thread who I should feel more sympathy for.

Rainydays55 · 12/11/2021 10:43

Yes I have to say the isolation hasn’t really bothered me because I haven’t felt like going out anyway!

Has anyone got any tips for the spaced out/ floaty feeling? A few months ago I had it quite badly, a few weeks after my second vaccine and the doctors couldn’t really pinpoint if it was the vaccine or a random bug… I’m really worried it’s going to get bad like that again , am I’m worried it’s the one symptom I’m going to be left with :-( did anyone else have it? I don’t know if it’s just part of the tiredness. It’s hard to explain it, I just feel a bit floaty and not completely with it?!

I was trying to be helpful - just sign him off PE. You can do that. Genuinely wasn't meant as a shitty response. I'm also concerned!

Neversaygoodbye · 12/11/2021 11:04

Sorry @RuleWithAWoodenFoot for jumping on you. I guess that's feeling crappy myself and over sensitive. Wishing you well with the teaching when you go back 💐

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 12/11/2021 11:06

Can you sign me off PE?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 12/11/2021 11:06

For the year. Hate teaching PE

Neversaygoodbye · 12/11/2021 11:12

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot 😂 Can you just buy a megaphone and shout at them...this is what "some" of the teachers used to do when I was at school! Although not my favourite Ms Barrett who got me into Hockey and I ended up team captain, she was brilliant. I was very shy and this was the start of me gaining confidence, just goes to show what a difference you can make.

troppibambini6 · 12/11/2021 11:18

Yep that's what my pe teacher used to do! Grin

Can I have a whinge?
Can't really in RL...

I just feel so shit. Day 6 and I thought I would be starting to feel better but I just feel dreadful. I couldn't get out of bed this morning and I feel awful I'm being such a rubbish parent. I hurt all over, the puppy jumped on me this morning and I wanted to cry.
Even walking hurts. I'm sat on the sofa watching ds build Lego trying to look interested...
Dh is back at lunch and I'm hoping I can go back to bed for a bit.

Sorry for the miserable post.

Rainydays55 · 12/11/2021 11:21

Moan away @troppibambini6 ! For those of you going through this with young children at home I think you are absolutely amazing.

Neversaygoodbye · 12/11/2021 11:22

Can't imagine how much harder it must be with young kids. Don't beat yourself up. ❤️

troppibambini6 · 12/11/2021 11:33

Thanks that really kind.

I feel so bad as it me that's given it to him and he's stuck at home with me and he's not even ill.

Chaosandmadness · 12/11/2021 11:43

I also have the floaty feeling (sorry can't work out how to quote atm) I'm out of isolation today and popped to the shop. Had to get someone else to drive me though as due to feeling floaty/spaced out/slightly detached from what is going on. I drive a lot for work and really don't feel safe driving whilst feeling like this.

Leftbutcameback · 12/11/2021 11:44

Does everyone get the antibody test to do? I've done a couple before (one for a study and a paid one for the vaccine) and the paid one had a much better lancet for spiking fingers! There were three so I've kept the other two.

Very snotty this morning, and like having hayfever (itchy eyes etc) so I've taken an antihistamine which helped with the eyes. The ears ringing is annoying though.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 12/11/2021 11:52

I'm on (counts on fingers) day 5 if testing day was day 0.
In myself I feel a lot better and the worst thing was the headache which is barely there now.
Yesterday I was coughing more as I barely coughed for the first few days.
Today I'm not coughing as much but my chest feels tight. I'm an asthmatic so I'm used to that feeling and keeping an eye on it.

I MISS COFFEE! I can taste sweet foods but coffee tastes like soap.

My ppa teacher takes PE for me thankfully. I also hate teaching PE .

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 12/11/2021 11:55

I'd like to know what things are the virus, and what things are the body fighting off the virus. Or are they all your body fighting off the virus? I don't understand viruses.

You tick a box when you book for your PCR if you are willing to take part in the antibody testing.
cookiesandtea · 12/11/2021 12:06

I'm on day 0 as of today :(

My DD tested positive started to feel ill last Sunday and consequently tested positive on Monday so she is day 5. I only tested positive on LFT (with symptoms) today so have gone for a PCR which im certain will be pos.

I feel so lightheaded/spaced out/dizzy as I drove to the test site.

Even though I don't feel great and am aware I can get worse it's the isolation which scares the shit out of me. I'm a very active person I despise being indoors, I suffer from terrible anxiety and this is for me suffocating. I also have a fiesty 3 year old :(

Anyone else in my shoes?

Leftbutcameback · 12/11/2021 13:06

Thanks @SpookyScarySkeletons - I ticked the box so guess it will be on the way!

Rainydays55 · 12/11/2021 13:14

It’s annoying isn’t it @Chaosandmadness, I wish it would go away. If any one has any tips to get rid of the floaty / spaced out feeling it would be most appreciated!

LynetteScavo · 12/11/2021 13:54

I think the only way to deal with the floaty feeling is to rest- I find it's worse if I'm tired.

I've been quite jolly and not wanted to moan too much so far
having time off work to read without feeling guilty because it's a legal requirement isn't the wort thing in the world but I went to sleep at 8:30pm last night and was woken at 8:30am this morning by everyone panicking they had overslept. FFS they always complain I wake them up too early and the one time they have to look after themselves they can't manage it. I could have happily slept for at least another hour - I've no idea how I'll manage back at work next week. I still feel as grotty as the day after I tested positive.

I'm also pissed off that DH is back from working away and is now working from home and I'm banished to the bedroom again. I had a nice time walking around the house while he was away.

DooDahDah · 12/11/2021 14:11

I'm day 7, and most of the nasty symptoms have gone, but I'm soooo tired! I can't move much or I go lightheaded.

I'm a studying FT at Uni, and can't see how I can drive in next week or concentrate. I'm going to struggle to catch up on the missed Lectures as it is. As DH has pointed out no-one else can do it for me.

All 5 of us are positive, but fortunately only one of the dc had symptoms, but I do confess the kids have ran ferral, lots of jam on toast and unlimited tv/computers.....

yellowstoneranch · 12/11/2021 14:29

Hope you don't mind another member of the "currently got covid" club Confused

Positive PCR email received this morning at 1am but still waiting on Dh's although his has far more typical symptoms than me. Both got a temperature during Tuesday within hours of each other so at least we've been able to stay (and sweat SadEnvy) together.

Currently lying on sofa, again ... Have managed to shower today so that's one better than yesterday
