Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

Day 10 here.

Still a cough but it isn't as deep if that makes sense? Just a surface cough. Am still a bit tired and not sure either can smell, taste is a bit wonky.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 11/11/2021 13:25

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot I'm the same as you. Thought oh I'll be ok when in reality it has been awful.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 11/11/2021 13:28

Strange isn't it! I'm diabetic and my BMI was still very high when all this kicked off so I have been so so careful.

Suppose I'm glad it finally caught up with me while my diabetes is well controlled and I've worked hard to get to a healthy BMI so way less risk factors.

justbananas42 · 11/11/2021 13:29

Three more days of isolation to go. Cannot wait!!!

reddevilunited · 11/11/2021 13:31

I think I'm day 9 today. Feeling slightly better apart from I've now got sciatica. I can smell strong smelling things and have the minutest but of taste back.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 11/11/2021 13:41

I'm struggling to cope with the constant stuffy nose now. I've taken that much Sudafed I've prob overdosed but it's still stuffy. And blowing it does nothing

MrsSquirrel · 11/11/2021 14:23

@Chaosandmadness

On day 10 and had my last test and trace call. As I still have symptoms he suggested I get further medical advice now through 111. I don't have the energy to sit on hold to 111 for hours so I've contacted my gp using their online service instead and hoping they don't just tell me to call 111.
My GPs have a duty system and the doctor on duty does follow up calls with covid patients. She had obviously been doing a lot of them.

It was really reassuring to speak to an actual medical professional. She asked all the right questions, gave lots of advice. She even offered to write me a sick note, I didn't have to ask.

Chaosandmadness · 11/11/2021 14:32

The surgery got back to me and have booked me in for a phone consultation next Thursday. I don't even have the energy to be annoyed with this. I queried the work situation and the receptionist said they can back date a fit note. I don't know if work will accept this. I find it hard to believe that there is no one available to call me for a week

LittleBoxes · 11/11/2021 14:59

Just as a note of reassurance for everyone who's in the thick of it, I'm on day 14 today and am almost completely recovered, with just a tiny cough and slightly more tired than usual. I might even go for a walk tomorrow! So for me it was exactly two weeks from start to finish, with the very worst bit on days 4–7.

LittleBoxes · 11/11/2021 15:02

Oh, and taste and smell are completely back too.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 11/11/2021 15:15

@LittleBoxes - nice to hear! My partner is also mostly back to normal too - it's been 13 days for him since symptoms started. He's a lazy boot in normal circs though, so not yet missing exercise and so on.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 11/11/2021 16:01

@LittleBoxes that's great! Did you have any sinus problems with it?

Rainydays55 · 11/11/2021 16:02

I think I’ve felt relatively normal today apart from I’ve felt a bit ‘floaty’ this afternoon , not sure if it’s because I’m tired, it’s hard to explain but just a bit off balance. Has anyone else had that? I’ve only got 2 days of isolation left, I don’t want another symptom to start lol :-( a few weeks after my first vaccine I had something similar but quite badly, not vertigo but really floaty/dizzy etc and I really don’t want that again :-( please tell me someone else has had it and it goes quick !!

LittleBoxes · 11/11/2021 16:24

@Myusernameisnotmyusernameno Sinuses all clear, no probs at all!

LittleBoxes · 11/11/2021 16:26

@Rainydays55 Yep, dizzy and wobbly (and quite nauseous) towards the end of the isolation period, but all gone now.

crazycatgal · 11/11/2021 16:28

I'm on day 2. Currently have a blocked nose, a slight cough and a headache behind my eyes for around an hour when I wake up.

Rainydays55 · 11/11/2021 16:30

That’s good @LittleBoxes, just feel worried that a new symptom starting now will take ages to clear… hoped it was all disappearing!

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 11/11/2021 16:31

That's good @LittleBoxes I'm suffering with mine but hoping they will clear soon.

tupperwaretowers · 11/11/2021 17:31

Day 10 now. Intermittent cough. Chest pain/stinging is really concerning me now.

Leftbutcameback · 11/11/2021 18:00

@Rainydays55 floaty is a good description, I told my mum I felt spaced out which is similar. It's the main symptom I've had so far, although a bit of a cough has arrived today (I have no real idea which day I am on)

Leftbutcameback · 11/11/2021 18:01

Those with stuffy noses have you tried neti pots? I use them for my allergies normally

Florencenotflo · 11/11/2021 18:30

I'm half way through reading the thread so apologies if this has been mentioned or talked about. But I have a lot of the symptoms that have been mentioned, sneezing, runny nose, blocked sinuses, headache, was very cold last night for a while and was shivering at one point. No cough, or very occasional when my nose runs down the back of my throat 🤢

But my LFT's are showing negative. I test every other day (something encouraged by work even though I'm home based). I'm wondering whether to book a PCR for tomorrow anyway.

Would I get a PCF with 4 negative LFT's in the past 8 days?

Florencenotflo · 11/11/2021 18:32

I'm more worried because we are meant to go away Monday, so wouldn't want to be away and feel worse or then get a positive.

2 DD's have had colds but both of their LFT's were negative. All the tests I've used have been from 3 different batches/deliveries so cant all be faulty.

Andoffwego · 11/11/2021 18:43

@Florencenotflo get a PCR test - you’ve most likely all got the horrible cold that isn’t Covid, but you’ll worry if you don’t get a test, plus it’s a good idea to test properly anyway as you feel so rough. Is there a mobile PCR testing van in your area during the day? If so you can rock up at one of those without booking an appointment.

Andoffwego · 11/11/2021 18:45

Evening, Covid chums.
My isolation ends tonight. Wish I felt well enough to actually do something tomorrow but a trip to the local shop is going to be all I manage.

I was not too bad this morning and up and about without being in bed at all. Then it hit 1pm and I was straight back to bed. I’m definitely improving in the mornings but it hits me hard after lunch time and gets worse all evening. Again, I’m lying here with the awful lower back pain. It just ACHES.
