Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

I had the back pain too. In a weirdly specific spot, felt like someone was poking a thin hot wire into my lower back. (Not sure how I know what that would feel like 🤔) Lasted about three days and then suddenly disappeared.

Rainydays55 · 10/11/2021 22:08

I had the same with the back pain, lasted a good couple of days then seemed to suddenly go. I ended up having a nap this afternoon, first day I’ve done it, on day 8, and weirdly I felt better for it afterwards. Hopefully it won’t mean I don’t sleep tonight! I just want to say this has been such a lovely supportive thread and it is helping keeping me calm this week!

Yes, agree strongly! I like to be able to 'talk' to people with similar issues. On everything really, but this especially due to the isolating shiz. Two ill people in my house has been very monosyllabic!

bloodyhoodedeyes · 11/11/2021 00:48

Day 8 here and I'm gradually starting to feel more human although I did end up in hospital on Monday, my DH called 111 as I was talking utter nonsense, struggling to breathe and really sick and dizzy, but due to chest pains they wanted to check bloods and do an X-ray on my chest as well.

It was massively reassuring and I felt like an absolute fraud as my chest pains reduced, I did chat to the nurse about feeling a bit better and she said lots of symptoms are the same as anxiety and she is seeing so many people with high anxiety and panic attack symptoms, I've never had a panic attack or anxiety to my knowledge but it did noticeably calm down once I'd been seen.

Just wanted to share just to maybe help? It's very odd that the back pain vanished and the gurgling stomach and burning sensation and haven't come back since my trip.

I'm now left wondering if I've made my symptoms up? And if this had been a normal cold or flu without a positive test it would of felt different?

Is anyone else feeling a panic?

bloodyhoodedeyes · 11/11/2021 00:52

@Budapestdreams that's made me laugh my go-to covid food is ginger biscuits 🍪 it just suck on them whenever I'm sick.

Neversaygoodbye · 11/11/2021 08:32

Day 4 here and feeling full of cold, chest is burning and body aches...even the soles of my feet hurt when I got up! I've also come out in a rash all over my upper body. I don't think I'll be working from home today.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 11/11/2021 10:08

Day 4
Definitely feel more human today
I’m not working , my rationale is with work , building work and asd son I was on my knees before we caught this
I’m using this as an opportunity to rest and heal

Never have 4 days passed so slowly

PurpleDaisies · 11/11/2021 10:11

I’m out and about and I’m tired! I’m currently waking up every morning feeling like I’ve been hit by a bus. That’s the only lingering symptom and it can get out of here as far as I’m concerned.

Hi there. I also suffer with anxiety and am feeling it loads worse right now but I do when I have a cold as well. I didn't sleep at all last night as every time I lay down I started coughing and earlier I felt that breathless I thought i was having a panic attack.
troppibambini6 · 11/11/2021 10:37

Day 5 here and definitely starting to feel better. Ds(6) got a positive pcr this morning though so I'm starting to think I may never leave this house Grin

Weirdly my taste and smell have completely gone today. The virus that just keeps giving.....

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 11/11/2021 10:48

Day 8 here and have had a LONG sleep, first one since it all kicked off. I feel better for it. Also had only a very faint LFT T line today, so that makes me feel better too (have been doing an experiment). Going to work for a couple of hours this morning to get back in to things, then expect to feel exhausted this afternoon.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 11/11/2021 10:55

DH has tested positive today. Feel really sorry for DD 8 who now has to stay home with us. The cat is looking very confused about the whole situation. My cough has got worse now and feel really dizzy. Only source of fun is testing strong smelling items, candles and perfumes etc to see if I can smell them. No nothing...

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 11/11/2021 10:56

@troppibambini6 hope DS is ok

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 11/11/2021 10:58

@PurpleDaisies thanks for starting this thread and telling me about it (on a thread I wrote when I first had a headache). I think it's saved my sanity. Hope you start to feel better soon Smile

Chaosandmadness · 11/11/2021 10:59

On day 10 and had my last test and trace call. As I still have symptoms he suggested I get further medical advice now through 111. I don't have the energy to sit on hold to 111 for hours so I've contacted my gp using their online service instead and hoping they don't just tell me to call 111.

Rainydays55 · 11/11/2021 11:02

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot I think I may have been doing the same experiment as you!!…. Doing a LFT every morning to see when the line disappears?! Day 9 for me, doing a bit of wfh this morning , also then expect to feel knackered this afternoon!
I don’t know how I should work it with work next week, I don’t know if it’s best to ease back into it or even what their expectations will be, I’m just worried with the commute I ll be knackered before I’ve even got there !

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 11/11/2021 11:08

I don’t know how I should work it with work next week

Same. Hence why trying some stuff today. I'm mostly worried about the amount of walking I do in a normal school day. Also, I can't just go in to work and pick up where I left off - I can't get on the school system from here, so have no idea what planning has and hasn't been done, can't use any resources... yet somehow am meant to just sort that out between 7.30 am and 8.30 am on Monday morning. Will want to be leaving at 3.30, but won't be able to as will have to plan for the next day.

Tricky.

troppibambini6 · 11/11/2021 11:15

@Myusernameisnotmyusernameno thank you yes he's fine doesn't have any symptoms at all.
Keeps telling me he thinks his test got mixed up and he doesn't have it!

Thisisworsethananticpated · 11/11/2021 11:37

I’ve ordered some scales from
Amazon prime
There has to be a plus to this

My kids are driving me mad , I feel so guilty and like a shit mother but I want to get in the car and drive just to escape them

My work colleague is pressuring me which doesn’t help , every time I log on he sees and texts me
Fuck Off

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/11/2021 11:53

I've lost 5lb since Sunday!

Thankfully my 10 days isolation coincides with then going to work on the day I have ppa in the morning.

But I do 10 000 steps on an average day in my primary classroom and have pe lessons and playtime duties to do. And we are a split level site so stairs galore to get to the yard, the hall etc.

I'm hoping to be more active by day 10 (no idea how of stuck in as I do know that advice is not to push it and to rest) but will have no qualms contacting my gp if I'm still coughing/out of breath with a small amount of exertion.

I imagine you cant self certify at the end of your isolation and will need a sick note. But I feel a few days being allowed out of the house to potter about before running straight back into full on teaching would be a good thing.

Leftbutcameback · 11/11/2021 11:58

Thanks for all the reassurance re my asthma. Woke with a thickly cough during the night but tbh I think that’s because the house is dry!

Leftbutcameback · 11/11/2021 11:58

tickly

SpookyScarySkeletons · 11/11/2021 12:45

Day 10!!!! Whoooooo!

Definitely feeling much better - just a niggling morning cough left now! I can't believe how scared I was of catching it. It was just like a really bad cold. I had convinced myself I would end up in hospital.

lightswitchmoment · 11/11/2021 13:02

Smell has returned, not completely but I could definitely smell sweet chilli chicken in the fridge and my soft boiled eggs had some taste. I know I'm lucky as I lost it in day 2 suddenly and it's returned on day 7 suddenly. I couldn't taste coffee this morning but am going to try another one now to compare to.

Also a teacher returning to work on Monday with no prep. Thankfully I can blah lesson 1 then free lesson 2 to get caught up.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 11/11/2021 13:10

I was the opposite. Wasn't very scared of catching it, by this term I just wanted it out of the way. Pretty sure it would be fine - I had a plan for the DIY and planning I'd be doing while I was off. I've been surprised at how ill I've felt. Thought I'd be teaching isolating kids online this week - not a chance.
