Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

I lost my smell and taste on the morning of day 2, it literally disappeared over night. I noticed when I went to drink my morning coffee. Still no taste apart from salt and got a hint when trying very dark chocolate.

Has anyone had diarrhoea? Both dh and my dsis had it near the end and they said it wasn't pleasant Blush

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 09/11/2021 15:51

Literally shitting out the remains of the bastard?!

I just did a cry on my partner - he's on his first day out today and I just needed a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. He feels 'ok' today and is working.

I still haven't gone to the post box with my antibody stuff. Feel I should wait until after dark. Just haven't been arsed yet, still on sofa

reddevilunited · 09/11/2021 16:00

@Rainydays55

Snap *@reddevilunited*, what day are you on?
Symptoms started last Sunday Monday. Positive LFT a week ago today and positive pcr a week tomorrow.

I don't even feel like I have the ability to work out what day I'm on!!

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 09/11/2021 16:12

Feeling really sorry for myself today. As the only person in the house with it I'm confined to my bedroom and mostly don't mind as feel too crap to do anything else but I feel so bloody lonely. And really in need of a hug. Sorry but needed to vent Smile

Rainydays55 · 09/11/2021 16:48

Pretty much the same timings as me @reddevilunited

LittleBoxes · 09/11/2021 16:57

I've been reading this thread throughout being ill with Covid and it's been a huge comfort to me - just knowing other people are feeling as rubbish as I am helped! Now on day 12 and feeling a bit better, though still exhausted and throaty. Haven't left the house yet though and have no desire to. The exercise stats on my watch are looking pitiful - wish I could tell the bloody thing I'm ill so it stops sending me disappointed-sounding messages! Luckily no one is expecting me back in the office for a while and I can now work properly from home - this time last week that would have been impossible, couldn't get out of bed! Taste and smell almost back to normal, but toothpaste and minty chewing gum both taste nothingy.

Completely understand the need for a hug - it felt so lonely sometimes and that's all I wanted! It'll be fine once the 10 days are over though - something to look forward to.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 09/11/2021 17:14

Oh God. My boss (headteacher) will be counting down the days til my day 11 and expecting me back in. He struggles to appreciate that people can be Ill.
I have my fingers crossed I'm fit and well by then but obv reading this thread it is clear some people are not.

I got through today by having 2 x 2 hour naps. If I cant sleep tonight it is my own fault.

morticiamarkle · 09/11/2021 17:17

I'm recovered (had it 2-3 weeks ago). It wasn't that bad (cough, headache, tired, loss of sense of smell) and I'm not vaxxed.

But now I have that weird phantom smell business, where I keep getting waves of smell like burning plastic & metal. Which is most disconcerting. Hope it goes soon,

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 09/11/2021 17:27

@LittleBoxes you're right. I wasn't even allowing the cat in my room but she seemed to sense there's something up and kept fighting to come in. She's asleep on my bed now. I know I need to get a grip and it's only a few days but it's really hard.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 09/11/2021 17:28

I've taken my watch off now Grin

PurpleDaisies · 09/11/2021 17:30

@LittleBoxes I got a report from my Fitbit abs it made me want to cry. I literally walked ten thousand steps less every day. On no day did I meet any goal! Never mind. It’ll be back to normal soon.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 09/11/2021 17:56

I just took my antibody test to the post box- 11 active minutes. Am properly puffed out. I ran 5k last Wednesday morning, reckon I'll be lucky to get 500 steps in tomorrow.

lllllllllll · 09/11/2021 18:00

and I'm not vaxxed.

@morticiamarkle why not?

pinguwings · 09/11/2021 19:26

It's so interesting to read other people with the same symptoms on more or less the same time frame.

I'm actually feeling ok now (day 7) just no taste or smell.

My one year old spent most of the afternoon putting her wellies on and banging at the front door 😥 I'm so desperate even to go for a walk but the DDs are only on day 4.

Bobbobbobbing · 09/11/2021 19:27

Day 11 here and while the bunged up nose has gone, I've still got a sore throat and am so bloody tired. I'm having a nap every afternoon. Supposed to be back at work tomorrow (wfh) but dont think I'll manage a full day.

PurpleDaisies · 09/11/2021 19:35

Are test and trace driving anyone else nuts? I’ve got five answerphone messages from them today. First thing this morning a call connected and I told the guy the mobile signal here is terrible so please call back on the landline (which they have-they have rung me on it before). No call back. Now all these bloody voice messages on my mobile. The last one was just music. I am currently wanting to throw things. I guess it’s good that I’m now feeling well enough for that!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 09/11/2021 19:44

They've only called me twice. Partner got called today - they said thanks for isolating and that was about it.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 09/11/2021 19:55

No one has called me yet.

LittleBoxes · 09/11/2021 20:05

I had a voicemail message that was just music too. Perhaps it was supposed to cheer me up? Confused

SpookyScarySkeletons · 09/11/2021 20:22

Between me and DH we have had a phone call every sodding day!!

Are you still isolating? Do you intend to continue isolating? Well you could just say anything!! Massive bloody waste of time!

Leftbutcameback · 09/11/2021 21:04

Bit late to the party but just got my positive result this evening and wanted to join in! I have lots of symptoms but none of the main three so tested under the Zoe app study. I thought I would need to isolate for 10 days from test but TT says it's from when my (non main) symptoms started so only four days to go. I am CEV and had booster 2 weeks ago. Currently just tired, headachy, and a bit of a cold. Can't help feeling anxious about my lungs though.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 09/11/2021 21:35

I only did my lft due to a horrible headache and I only got the high temp the day later.

Just got a text to tell me my antibody test will be arriving in a few days. What is the purpose please of doing it if I know I've had covid as well as 2 jabs??

Rainydays55 · 09/11/2021 21:44

I haven’t been given the option of an antibody test @DrMadelineMaxwell but I’ve also wondered the same thing?

PurpleDaisies · 09/11/2021 21:45

Nhs Scotland seems to have the clearest explanation for antibody testing after having been vaccinated and infected before…

Forgot the quote bit:

Why should I take part in antibody testing?
By taking part, you’re helping the NHS understand how well the vaccines are working against different variants.

The research is also helping us to understand more about how immunity is affected by:

vaccination
previous coronavirus infection
Public Health Scotland and Public Health England will share relevant findings about vaccines, immunity and variants when appropriate.
