Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

@justbananas42

Other viruses do this too. It’s not just Covid that can screw up your taste and smell.

@PurpleDaisies hmm. I’ve had colds before where I’ve lost my sense of taste and smell. But never anything that makes stuff taste like chemicals, fumes or cigarette butts!

What’s that hmm for? It’s just a fact. This can happen with other (non man made) viruses too. It’s the first time it’s happened to me too but that doesn’t mean it’s because the virus was made in a lab…

Got positive result confirmed today, felt ok this morning so rang my boss said yeah give me a few days and I'll work from home feel okish, told girls at work, told family members put things in place for relative I look after, registered result, did track and trace answered sevetal whatsapp messages...BIG MISTAKE!!!!!

Tonight I feel totally worn out and teary as 1 person at work who I sat in an office all day with the other day handing things back and forth to, is annoyed at me for naming her

SortCode · 08/11/2021 22:25

Naming her on Track and Trace but it asked have you been in close contact woth a person for more than 15 minutes even if you were 2m apart....YES I was!!!!!

justbananas42 · 08/11/2021 22:25

This can happen with other (non man made) viruses too.

@PurpleDaisies what can happen with non manmade viruses? The chemical/fumes/stale cigarette taste? Which other viruses cause that? I’d be interested to know as I’ve never heard of any.

PurpleDaisies · 08/11/2021 22:26

That sounds utterly rotten @SortCode. Flowers. If they’re double vaccinated, you naming them will have zero impact on her anyway.

Crossing fingers it’s a mild course for you. Are you set for food etc at home?

OP posts:
SortCode · 08/11/2021 22:32

Exactly that id she is double vaccinated and negative then fine but I told the truth.
I would of thought she'd want to be on the safeside because of her own family.

Luckily food all stocked up the other day

Day 6 here. Can’t smell my strongly scented shower gel this morning at all. Thoroughly fed up of putting my life on hold for another minute, let alone another 5 days.

I’m into the second half of isolation at least. This is shit.

justbananas42 · 09/11/2021 08:12

Also feeling mentally slightly better to know that I’m past the most contagious stage. So there’s less chance of passing it onto my family now.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 09/11/2021 09:01

Day 6 for me too. Todayi am going to change my clothes.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 09/11/2021 09:07

Smell has gone for me too. I hadn't really realised but I put my perfume on this morning (which is quite a strong scent) and I can't smell it at all. I'm day 8 or 9 now, lost track lol. Strange for it to go so far in to infection?

Thisisworsethananticpated · 09/11/2021 09:22

I’m definitely sick. Got the body ache and headache like I had after vaccine 1
Ain’t no way I’m working

Rainydays55 · 09/11/2021 09:28

Day 7 for me, some symptoms seemed to have eased which is good but I feel knackered! And my ears feel strange today - a bit blocked up / fuzzy?!

PurpleDaisies · 09/11/2021 09:29

I can smell coffee! I cannot tell you all how happy that has made me.

Brew for you @purpledaisies fabulous news!

I greet you from the other side. We all had covid last month.

I can't tell you how liberating it is to walk around knowing you can't catch it or spread it, knowing any contact you have with anyone is safe, knowing you don't need to lateral flow yourself or your children, knowing you won't inadvertently pass it on to your elderly relatives, knowing you will be immune over Christmas. It's heaven people!!

LynetteScavo · 09/11/2021 09:40

Last night I think I could taste strong black coffee! This morning I think I can taste strong black Lady Grey tea!
PurpleDaisies · 09/11/2021 09:42

Thank you @SummerHouse! My antibody test came back this morning and it’s positive which is more great news. One more day of these four walls and then I’m out of here.

Hang on in there everyone. ❤️

justbananas42 · 09/11/2021 09:45

@SummerHouse can you definitely not catch it again once you’ve had it then?

Whiffle77 · 09/11/2021 09:49
@SummerHouse can you definitely not catch it again once you’ve had it then?
There's plenty of people on this thread alone who are going through it for the second time, so yes you can definitely catch it more than once

Whiffle77 · 09/11/2021 09:51

I technically ended my isolation yesterday but I still feel pants. I'm knackered, my head is fuzzy, my eyes hurt and I'm all bunged up. Still coughing too.

The lack of taste is truly depressing. It's been the same for me as others - can taste that something is spicy but not actually taste it. So weird.

Feeling really blue about it all now, and being stuck in the house ill with an 11 month old all day every day is pushing me to my limits. Only just coming out the other side of PND so this is exactly what I didn't need

SpookyScarySkeletons · 09/11/2021 09:52

Yep can definitely catch it more than once.

However I think what @SummerHouse means is that by us having it now we will have antibodies and natural immunity for a few months.

I have a lot of hospital appointments due to other conditions and have been really anxious going in over the last 18 months. It's actually a relief to know that I don't need to worry at my next appointment next week!

Winterwonder5 · 09/11/2021 09:53

You can absolutely catch it again once immunity wains, I think pp mentioned christmas to infer that they've got an absolutely minute chance of becoming infected again for the next few months at least. Lots of people have had it last year and again this year

newnameagain99 · 09/11/2021 09:55

Hi all. I'm on my second round of covid. I had it this time last year and am double vaccinated. It's worse than last time. Had higher temperature this time and feel so dizzy.

SummerHouse · 09/11/2021 09:59

Absolutely. Sorry, I did mean to add "for three months or so anyway" to my list of joy, but I got overexcited with my positivity. I am double vaxxed so I know all too well immunity will wear off. But I am just enjoying the temporary super human feeling of invincibility.
RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 09/11/2021 10:05

Yes, I'm looking forward to that too. Feel like I can visit my parents without worrying about giving it to them. At least for a couple of months.
