Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

How is everyone today? I think I'm on the worse day so far, sleeping most do the day, my back feels like I've been punched and my head and ears are aching so much, really not interested in food and trying to stay awake to drink and eat something.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 08/11/2021 19:20

Yes I think I've had my worst day too. I had a bad evening on day 1, but have managed to 'do' things on every other day. Today I thought it was going to be better, then by 10am I was on the sofa and am still here. No energy at all. Not even to do some more of my jigsaw.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 08/11/2021 19:52

I’m feeling sorry for myself
I’m a single mum , we don’t have a kitchen right now and I literally just can’t
But I have to
I might have a glass of red

justbananas42 · 08/11/2021 20:06

I’m on day 5 and physically feeling totally better, other than this sodding loss of taste and smell.

Flowers to everyone who is struggling.

andi62 · 08/11/2021 20:09

Covid owns me.

I’m feeling really woozy today, no other word for it. It’s hard because dizziness is one of my panic attack/anxiety symptoms and so I’m spending g the whole time worrying that this is anxiety not covid, and analysing every single sensation. I feel totally fine at rest. When I stand up and start doing something, my head feels as though it’s moving in slow motion and I feel sort of vibrations almost like An adrenaline surge. So weird and horrible. I’m on day 6. Has anyone else felt this?

justbananas42 · 08/11/2021 20:32

Actually I did just blow my nose and notice that my ears popped a bit. Perhaps I am still a bit congested?

Budapestdreams · 08/11/2021 20:37

@3AndADog yes I've been feeling a bit like that. I'm ok if I'm still, preferably lying down but struggling if moving around.

iloveredwine · 08/11/2021 20:45

I'm on day 10! Is anyone else finding that they are ok till they move or do anything like walk upstairs then the cough comes back. Only now coughing when I move but it floors me and I have to lay down with water after

reddevilunited · 08/11/2021 21:01

I've just bit into a lemon to prove to OH that I cannot taste a thing!!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 08/11/2021 21:06

Ha, we were eating weird shit last night too just to demonstrate to our child that we can't taste anything. Well, I can taste salt and sugar, so the lemon I ate last night was really sweet. I haven't got the energy for anything fun today. I just read the instructions for the antibody test - seeing the words 'do star jumps' made me put the whole thing away. Maybe tomorrow...

When I stand up and start doing something, my head feels as though it’s moving in slow motion

Yes, this is what today has been like for me. Tomorrow will be better, yes.

reddevilunited · 08/11/2021 21:19

I can't taste salty, sweet, sour or spicy. It's like my taste buds have switched off

3AndADog · 08/11/2021 21:22

It’s so bizarre being able to sense that something is hot or cold, or a familiar texture, or even spicy, but not actually taste it. So freaking weird.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 08/11/2021 21:29

A spoonful of chilli jam was quite interesting. Sweet and burn-y.

tupperwaretowers · 08/11/2021 21:33

Ah yes chomping on a lemon was all the proof I needed. It’s weird to just have the sensation of food. Porridge was just claggy goop, bread which I love just felt cloying and intrusive in my mouth. Think I am slowly getting my taste back, got some menthol vibes from my Vicks snorter.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 08/11/2021 21:36

Star jumps...? Crazy.

I couldn't eat half of my dinner although I can still taste. Then when I brushed my teeth a moment ago a felt a weird wave wash over me and I thought I was either going to faint or be sick.

So I'm back in bed lying down.

PurpleDaisies · 08/11/2021 21:39

Don’t worry about doing star jumps for the antibody test. As long as your hand is nice and warm, chances are you’ll have no problems getting enough blood. You could just march on the spot for a bit if you wanted. The main thing is drinking lots of water. The pot looks intimidating but it fills very quickly. I’m hoping for my results this week.

Hi all, I'm on day 5 and have felt ok apart from the first night, 5pm till I went to sleep where I was hot, sore skin, shaky like a flu coming on. Woke up day 2 to not much. All I've really had has been sore sinuses, a really itchy nose and sneezing and a total loss of smell and taste. This is the worst as food is just blah, nothing it worth eating. Apart from that I've been very lucky.

Both dc got it first, then dh 12 days later then me 4 days after him.

lightswitchmoment · 08/11/2021 21:52

Just caught up on today's posts.

I can only taste salt, nothing else. No smell at all so didn't trust cooking the chicken breast I had in for tea.

I forgot that although I feel fine I feel dizzy/woozy when I stand for more than a couple of minutes. Got the rona cough too.

Daffodilfor all of you with small dc, mine are teens and rarely make an appearance but have been very helpful when we've been poorly. Can't imagine looking after little ones when feeling rough.

It’s really weird. There’s no way this virus is not manmade IMO.

justbananas42 · 08/11/2021 22:15

My glass of wine tasted slightly less foul than yesterday, but I still can’t taste it.

Other viruses do this too. It’s not just Covid that can screw up your taste and smell.

still can’t taste it properly*

@PurpleDaisies hmm. I’ve had colds before where I’ve lost my sense of taste and smell. But never anything that makes stuff taste like chemicals, fumes or cigarette butts!
