Is everyone getting boosters?

Are we all meant to have the one?

If so are people here keen to have one?

No, it's only certain groups that will be offered it

As soon as they were announced, my dad was very keen. But he is late 60s, and I am not sure if the order is the same as the initial vaccine roll out.

Williamshatnershorses · 22/10/2021 19:22

I just squeak in as an over 50 and I’ll get it as soon as I can.

SalsaLove · 22/10/2021 19:24

I’m keen, 53, and ECV. I hope everyone will take up the booster jabs.

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/10/2021 19:28

I've got to wait till December to have mine.

TheNoonBell · 22/10/2021 19:39

I'm waiting for a jab that works for more than 6 months.

etulosba · 22/10/2021 19:46

I’ll be getting mine as soon as I am eligible.

whatswithtodaytoday · 22/10/2021 19:48

I think everyone will be asked to eventually, and Pfizer at least will be a three-shot vaccine. That seems to be what the data suggests works best.

I'm only 40 so I won't get one yet, but will be very keen to get one if/when it is offered.

OldScrappyAndHungry · 22/10/2021 19:48

@TheNoonBell why? Exactly the same principle as the flu jab - it’s done every year.

Why is this such a hard concept to grasp? Hmm

Would bloody love a booster but I’m 49 Sad.

JassyRadlett · 22/10/2021 19:50

@TheNoonBell

I'm waiting for a jab that works for more than 6 months.
The vaccines we have continue to work really well at their primary objective, and pretty well at their secondary, even with waning and the high infection level that mean exposure rates are pretty high.

But the evidence out of Israel suggests that they are fucking shit hot after a booster in all those ways.

It does work for more than six months, especially if you're younger than 50. It just works better if you get a booster.
FlatteredFool · 22/10/2021 19:51

Do health care workers go to the front of the queue? Or is it the vulnerable groups?

hashbrownsandwich · 22/10/2021 19:53

If registered healthcare worker you will be eligible.

It's based on when you had your second jab anyway, you have to be 6 months from your 2nd dose.

Tigerblue · 22/10/2021 19:53

I qualified under work and had mine done within four days of six months, my Mum was invited by GP and had hers a week early. My DH and friends certainly wanted theirs, but will have to wait 4-8 weeks.

plinkplinkfizzer · 22/10/2021 19:55

Yes everyone in our household will be getting our booster . Also extended family .

ReginaSpaghetti99 · 22/10/2021 19:56

I was in group 6 last time and had my second dose in May. I’ll definitely have a booster if I’m eligible.

HundredMilesAnHour · 22/10/2021 19:56

Had mine earlier this week (invited by my text from my GP). It's just over 6 months since I was double vaccinated. Not sure if that was already wearing off or if I was just unlucky but I caught Covid (at work) just over a month ago. Still recovering and off work 4 weeks later.

HeronLanyon · 22/10/2021 19:59

I’ll be there for mine as soon I hear. Nov/dec for me.
Anyone know if the flu jab is being administered at the same time ? Know this was a plan a while ago but heard nothing recently. Are we expected to get flu jab separately at pharmacy etc ?

moregarlic · 22/10/2021 19:59

Given jab immunity wanes after 6 or so months, I expect the government will eventually roll them out to everyone. Can’t see what the point would be otherwise (though equally I don’t see how it’s feasible to keep this up forever).

(I haven’t had the first two, so won’t be getting this one either).

TheRealMrsMorningstar · 22/10/2021 20:00

I'm eligible as an unpaid carer. I am also 40 and asthmatic (but not CEV) so grateful and will be getting mine next week.

HeronLanyon · 22/10/2021 20:00

Oo humdredsorry to hear. Awful.

MajesticWhine · 22/10/2021 20:03

Had mine already. Not quite sure if it was because I'm a health worker - it was not offered at work but via Gp CCG area. I'm also 50+

FourRandomWordsCheese · 22/10/2021 20:20

@HeronLanyon
DH had his booster recently, and was offered a flu jab while he was there, so he had one in each arm!
I will have mine as soon as the 6 months are up for me.

frumpety · 22/10/2021 21:00

Getting mine tomorrow along with my Flu jab, got my paracetamol ready.
