Is everyone getting boosters?

Are we all meant to have the one?

If so are people here keen to have one?

I'm due a booster middle of next month. I'm not particularly vulnerable in terms of my health, I'm eligible because I'm a carer for someone who is very vulnerable without me. My kids both had Covid recently & I didn't get it despite pretty full on exposure so I'm confident that my vaccine is working.

I can't wait for the booster. I'll take whatever the NHS want to give me in this regard. The vaccine programme has been a great success story.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 26/10/2021 20:56

@MissConductUS

Does that mean that because I had my second one in June I should still be fairly well protected in December?

Presumably, but the only way to know is to get your antibody levels tested. Or get the booster dose.

That's a blood test isn't it?

I won't be called for a booster any time yet as I'm 46 so I've got time to make up my mind what I'll do about it.

MissConductUS · 26/10/2021 21:12

Yes, they have to draw a blood sample to test antibody levels.

If you are 46 and have no underlying medical conditions that would make you especially vulnerable, I would recommend just waiting until you are offered the booster.

TheVolturi · 26/10/2021 21:25

I had covid last month and just had my antibody results today. It says that I have antibodies from infection and antibodies from the vaccine. Does this mean I don't need a booster?

Sonex · 26/10/2021 21:46

My DH had his yesterday, he's 50 and was invited by the GP, I think because he was CEV as it's only been 5.5 months since his second one. I will get one as soon as eligible.

FindingMeno · 26/10/2021 21:48

I will as soon as my turn comes.
I've just had covid so that will hopefully give me immunity for a while but I'm happy to chuck everything I can at it.

leafyygreens · 26/10/2021 21:52

@Scarcity20

If you have had covid natural immunity will last years. Mike yeadon speaks about it a lot but he's discredited from mainstream narrative even though he's a highly intelligent world class scientist. You'll find his videos on bitchute, rumble etc
Mike Yeadon has been discredited because he talks absolute shite. He may have been an excellent scientist at one point but he's gone absolutely crackers (or is pretending to be).

Most notable claims from Yeadon are that the vaccines are being used as a method of deliberate "mass depopulation" and anyone who has had one will be dead in two years. Oh and they're also being used as a way of tracking everyone (he hadn't elaborated on how exactly this will work, or why that would be useful when we're all dead).

No idea why people are still quoting him.

I've asked this question. Not because I don't want a booster but because I want to gain maximum benefit from it. I had covid very badly in August. No idea if immunity is relative to the severity of the covid you had but all health care professionals I have asked have said have it now. Actually it's a 3rd primary not a booster, I'll get that six months later. I don't understand reluctance to have a vaccine every year or even every 6 months. I have a flu vax every year. Far preferable to having flu or covid.

Mike Yeadon - anti mask, anti vax and covid denial what I think of as
pro-covid.

PuzzledObserver · 27/10/2021 13:50

Re boosters waning too, no point having had the jabs to start with…..

It is not automatically the case that because immunity has proven to wane after 2 jabs, it will necessarily do so after 3. Some vaccines are single dose, some are 2, some are 3, some are 5 (tetanus).

We may find in due course that 3, or 4, or 5 doses of Covid does the job for life.

Or not….

Littlemiss74 · 27/10/2021 16:09

Does anyone know how long the booster takes to be effective please? Had mine a week ago & DH & DS have tested positive.

Two weeks according to Zoe app. I just had mine and when I put it in the app it warned me it wasn't effective until 14 days.
Littlemiss74 · 27/10/2021 16:25

@Mosky oh🙁

Topseyt · 27/10/2021 16:31

My booster appointment isthis coming Saturday. I booked the appointment as soon as I got the text from my GP's surgery.

I am 55, with type 2 diabetes and a couple of other issues. Apparently I am CEV, although it took them a year to tell me that and whilst I am by no means a wild socialiser, I have never actually shielded.

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 27/10/2021 16:39

I had mine a few weeks ago alongside my flu jag

The increased protection plateaus at two weeks, but you should have some improved immunity after a week.
plinkplinkfizzer · 27/10/2021 18:03

I had mine yesterday , My Husband today . All good , bit of a sore arm but I am fine .

Spodge · 27/10/2021 18:50

I'm over 50 and have mine booked in for 6 months after my second jab.

NotMyCat · 28/10/2021 01:42

I've had 2x AZ, and my third vaccine was Pfizer. Apparently I'll be called in about 6 months for a booster
Also had flu jab the day before my third vaccine, and I've had a pneumonia one too. Add to that the injections I do (1 is once a week, 1 is 2 injections once a month) and I feel like a bloody pin cushion Grin

MintyCedric · 28/10/2021 13:08

@SunsetSmartmeter

Were you group 6 last time round as a carer?

I'm registered as a carer for my elderly mum and in receipt of carers allowance so assuming I'll qualify for the booster but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of coherent information.

I'll be late November if so and I'm happy to have Round 3.

SunsetSmartmeter · 28/10/2021 13:18

@MintyCedric Yes I was. My GP called me in for my first jabs & they have told me I'm due for my booster in mid-Nov

MintyCedric · 28/10/2021 14:43

@SunsetSmartmeter

Thanks...that was the impression I'd gotten from somewhere but couldn't recall where I'd seen it.

Now I just need to persuade my 82yo mum to have hers...she's at that stubborn age when even though I've just given up my job to look after her and can run her about anytime, she refusing to have the bloody thing unless it's within 3 miles of home.

I've booked her an appointment for next week at the nearest location available which is 12 miles each way so will see later if that'll fly!

SunsetSmartmeter · 28/10/2021 14:47

@MintyCedric Good luck!

Snailhaterz2 · 28/10/2021 14:49

I've put the date in my diary for when I should be able to book, and will be trying to book online then. I got myself organised and booked a flu jab via Boots a few weeks ago. I'm 60 and frankly a bit fat, and would like to be as well protected as possible.

Lamentations · 28/10/2021 15:06

No. I'm not getting on a medical merry go round forever. I'm not vulnerable and my own vaccination status affects nobody else so I'm going to leave it now.

containsnuts · 28/10/2021 16:00

I wonder if there will ever be exemptions from further vaccination for people who had significant (but not life threatening) side effects from first doses? I still have side effects from the first dose 7 months ago but I didn't end up in hospital so imagine I'll be expected to just keep taking boosters and put up with being dizzy forever more Sad
