How soon after 6 months can people book boosters?

I had my first Covid jab start Feb, 2nd start April, so I’m just a bit over the 6 monthsfrom last jab now. DH was offered to book his booster 3 weeks ago, pretty much on the 6 months. But no one has contacted me and when I try to book online it says I’m not eligible and wait to be contacted. I was in the CEV group so I was done well in advance of my age group, though I am in the over 50 group anyway. GP surgery will not discuss Covid boosters in any shape or form. Do I just need to be patient? Am I being too hasty? I’m a teacher and in contact with an insane amount of Covid at the moment so justifiably anxious about waning immunity!

I just booked me and DH on nhs website - they are saying you can do it from Monday but it’s working now. It gives you dates from when you are eligible as my date was 10 days later than DH

Mindymomo · 06/11/2021 08:58

Just booked my booster, it will be one week before the 6 months date.

ColettesEarrings · 06/11/2021 09:01

Thanks for the heads up @NotSorry, just been able to book mine for two weeks time!

Snailhaterz2 · 06/11/2021 09:53

Yes!! Thanks for the heads up @NotSorry Not quite eligible to have one yet, but allowed to book online for 1st December - have just messaged friends to let them know as well..

Watsername · 06/11/2021 10:09

I have just tried the online booking service. I was not able to book my booster yet. (Group 6, over 5 months).

NotSorry · 06/11/2021 10:12

Perhaps it’s certain areas?

herecomesthsun · 06/11/2021 10:16

thanks, DH is due in a couple of weeks and we can book for him Smile

AliceWo · 06/11/2021 10:20

Just booked mine online - I'm 52 and had my last jab 31 May. It allowed me to book for end of November, 180 days after last jab. Not sure if it would have given an earlier date if I'd chosen a different vaccine site.

NotSorry · 06/11/2021 10:50

@AliceWo

I don't think it would because my sister did it and she is in a completely different area to me and it only gave her dates from 180 days

Wakemeuuuup · 06/11/2021 11:16

Thanks @SparklingLime I'll try them on Monday as that's when it becomes official. It's just worrying as GPs were so slow getting me the 1st vaccine

JassyRadlett · 06/11/2021 11:27

@Watsername I am trying to get clarity on whether I’m in the ‘new’ group 6 or not as a lot of asthmatics now aren’t included if under 50….

@watsername I'm in the same boat. Apparently under 50s in group 6 are still having issues. It'll be 6 months since my 2nd jab on Tuesday and I can't book
manolantern · 06/11/2021 11:35

I'm aged 43 and in group 6, and yesterday was able to book an appointment in advance for the end of November. But I'm in London so maybe it is about availability.

Wakemeuuuup · 06/11/2021 11:57

So am I so that's even more worrying

TheDogsMother · 06/11/2021 11:58

Mine will be 6 months on 27th Nov and I was able to book for that date yesterday via the central NHS website. The changes they mentioned in the news are live now.

Thanks for the heads up. Booked mine for two weeks time, on the first day I’m eligible for it.

@Wakemeuuuup

If you are in London and can get to St Thomas's Hospital that might be worth a go. They are running walk in jabs for people over 5 months from their second dose. Not sure what the age criteria are though. But I know two people who got jabs there this week.

Ooh, that's interesting! My booster appointment is at Guy's at the end of November. Might be tempted to try getting it earlier.
Watsername · 06/11/2021 12:45

I will try again on Monday. I have asthma, so perhaps that’s the problem, and I have been reclassified…? I really hope not - I work in a school and there are cases in my class every few weeks.

fairymouse · 06/11/2021 12:56

Is it still over 50s only? I've lost track ! I'm 49 but 6 months on.

fairymouse · 06/11/2021 12:57

Oops rtft and realise it is esp if group 6 still having issues
What a pile of crap the system is

ColettesEarrings · 06/11/2021 14:52

Re group 6 - I'm 46, was in original group 6 as a gp identified parent carer. I'm not in receipt of Carers Allowance, the child I care for doesn't claim DLA, and nor are they particularly vulnerable to covid as an individual. Judging by the press publicity I wouldn't qualify for a booster but the National Carers Association has confirmed with the government that all original group 6 carers will be called for a booster apparently. I was able to book through the online system this morning for ten days time.

DementedPanda · 06/11/2021 15:28

I'm group 6, under 50 and had last jab 12th May and still can't book 🤷‍♀️

Wakemeuuuup · 06/11/2021 15:40

I'm beginning to.wonder if they've dumped asthmatics who were in group 6 out of booster eligibility
