How soon after 6 months can people book boosters?

I had my first Covid jab start Feb, 2nd start April, so I’m just a bit over the 6 monthsfrom last jab now. DH was offered to book his booster 3 weeks ago, pretty much on the 6 months. But no one has contacted me and when I try to book online it says I’m not eligible and wait to be contacted. I was in the CEV group so I was done well in advance of my age group, though I am in the over 50 group anyway. GP surgery will not discuss Covid boosters in any shape or form. Do I just need to be patient? Am I being too hasty? I’m a teacher and in contact with an insane amount of Covid at the moment so justifiably anxious about waning immunity!

Our boosters are booked for next week . I'll be five months from my last jag , my Husband the same five months post vaccine . In Scotland if that makes any difference .

ajandjjmum · 22/10/2021 17:04

Interesting that it's five months in Scotland. Definitely 6 months in England.

ChikiTIKI · 22/10/2021 17:10

Obviously it's too late now but did your husband mention when he got his jab, that you wanted but were unable to book yours?

londonmummy1966 · 22/10/2021 17:16

I volunteer at two different centres in south London and both are doing walkins for anyone over 50 who had their second jab more than 180 days ago.

I had been trying my luck every day this week to book , this was the first time today that it let me book , my husband couldn't use his log in so called the help line and booked the day after me . But still got next week . I have not read anywhere in Scotland the gap is five months , but y' know , we took it .

No, that would have been a good idea!

Anyway, finally I’ve been able to book mine this evening. After spending all day swearing at the news and the reports of the “low booster take up” Grin

Glad you managed to book it. I remember feeling a similar type of annoyance when the BBC reported that pregnant women were getting ill from covid and they hadn't had been getting vaccines... They had only JUST started offering people in their 30s jabs, at that point.... Makes an interesting news article but its just lies, making people out to be vaccine refuses when they've not even had the offer yet!!

Leftbutcameback · 22/10/2021 17:54

I'm CEV and had a text from the NHS last week, four days after the 6 month mark. I've booked online for this weekend at the local vax centre. I'm in the South East

plinkplinkfizzer · 26/10/2021 18:33

I am just back from getting my booster , so yes you can get your booster in Scotland after 5 mths . I am over 50 I have also had my flu vaccine .

CarlaH · 27/10/2021 08:18

I have to say I wish ours were five months. I would like one as soon as possible as my partner is out and about socialising indoors now.

SparklingLime · 05/11/2021 11:00

It seems like there’s possibly a patchy move to boosters after five months in England. You were so helpful before, @ajandjjmum… do you (or anyone else) know if five month boosters are now available at walk-in clinics from today? As some are reporting on Twitter.

AnyFucker · 05/11/2021 11:05

In my area you need to be more than 182 days since your 2nd jab and in one of the identified groups

Languagethoughts · 05/11/2021 12:32

Has anyone been able to make a booking on the national booking system shortly before becoming eligible? Or will it not even allow you to make a booking until the full 6 months have elapsed?

trumpisagit · 05/11/2021 13:21

The booking website currently says:
Important
If you have not been contacted and it's been 6 months and 1 week (190 days) since your 2nd dose, please try to book your appointment using this service.

SparklingLime · 05/11/2021 13:25

But yesterday it said this…

How soon after 6 months can people book boosters?

Update: I have just booked my booster on the national booking system! I am almost 180 days post-2nd jab. The earliest appointment the system offered me was exactly 180 days after my second jab.
SparklingLime · 05/11/2021 18:15

Exactly the same here for my mum, @Languagethoughts!

Wakemeuuuup · 06/11/2021 00:09

I'm quite worried now that I haven't been put on the list for a booster.

I'm 46 but was in group 6 and had my 2nd jab on May 9th. When I try to book a booster it asks me if I work in social care or NHS and won't let me book

SparklingLime · 06/11/2021 05:31

Have you rung 119, @Wakemeuuuup?

halloweenie13 · 06/11/2021 05:33

I moved doctors in august after changing address and I'm now 7 months and a week, had no emails etc. wand when contacting the doctors, they said they cant book me in because they haven't had my details over yet

MrsLargeEmbodied · 06/11/2021 05:41

6 months and one week i heard

MrsLargeEmbodied · 06/11/2021 05:42

oh so it is now 5 months and one week?

MyOtherProfile · 06/11/2021 05:49

@MrsLargeEmbodied

I heard you can book at 5m 1w but the date you can get the jab will be a month later.

I was able to book on the NHS site as an over 50 exactly 6m after my 2nd jab, and had had my booster by the time my invite came through.

manolantern · 06/11/2021 07:18

I'm 43 and got my second dose at the start of June. I'm considered CV.

I tried my luck on the NHS website yesterday and it allowed me to book my booster for 29th November, 24 days in the future.

So, it's worth trying the website because at least in my case it was possible to book before you become eligible.

Pekkala · 06/11/2021 07:23

A friend just got told that from Monday you can go to a walk-in centre 150 days from your 2nd jab.
