Am I going to die :(

My husband has just had a positive LFT.

I’m absolutely petrified. I’m extremely obese with a BMI of 40.

I am fully vaccinated but I have had two different vaccines. 1 AZ and 1 Pfizer.

I feel physically sick with worry. 😓

@Iwannabelikeyouohh

*What did your therapist say?*

No much really. She just gave me some guided relaxation, an NHS leaflet about dealing with Covid anxiety and then said “I hope you stay safe and don’t become too unwell”…

Wasn’t very reassuring to be honest.

this is sad to hear, it doesn't sound like you are seeing an expert in treating health anxiety, that sounds more like what gets called a low intensity, Step 2 mental health support approach. It's not the CBT that's the problem, it's a great therapy for health anxiety using techniques similar to those for OCD (similar can be said for ACT therapy), it's that it doesn't sound like they have put you into intensive treatment for health anxiety yet you are really unwell with it. You need to see someone very good and experienced in it, just like a person with headaches might be fine with the pharmacist but a person with debilitating migraines has to go to a specialist.
They may be short staffed so keep pushing for the appropriate level of help for you, don't be fobbed off just like you wouldn't be fobbed off with an aspirin if you had a migraine.

@Iwannabelikeyouohh

What I don’t understand… if I wasn’t fully vaccinated, I would also be allowed out on Monday with DH (if DS wasn’t positive) But what If I’ve caught Covid today and it takes until next week to show?
I think the line has to be drawn somewhere with isolation because it can just get really complication and end up on a lot of people isolating for too long!

Hope you're feeling better OP! Almost another day ticked off the list!

salbodoodlecat · 15/10/2021 19:19
@talkalarm

He has to isolate until midnight on day 10.

He did a LFT this morning and he’s still showing positive. Does this indicate he’s contagious?
A LFT or PCR Will show up as positive for a while as there are small traces still there. But fine to continue to end isolation after two weeks. My two kids have both had Covid. Overlapping over 15 days. Neither my husband or I got it.

salbodoodlecat · 15/10/2021 20:04

Sorry ignore previous post. Meant 10 days not two weeks!

squee123 · 16/10/2021 20:26

How are you doing today OP? I hope your family are all on the mend.

Budapestdreams · 16/10/2021 22:25

Hi OP, just to know I've been thinking of you and your family. Hope you're ok 💐

Iwannabelikeyouohh · 17/10/2021 09:51

@squee123 @Budapestdreams

Thanks for asking. I’m doing okay.
Just mentally exhausted really.

MIL & FIL both out of isolation now.
MIL still has a bad chest, but she has COPD and has the same effect even from a cold.
She’s thankfully doing okay.

DH isolation ends at midnight tonight.

DS is Wednesday, we have to go by the test date for DS as he had no symptoms.
I do think though that he will have been positive the same day as DH, probably even before as he had the most contact with MiL.
But obviously he will be isolating until Wednesday.

I was due in work tomorrow but I’ve been asked not to go in until the end of DS isolation so I won’t be in until a week tomorrow now.
I get full pay so I guess that’s a bonus.

I’ve been doing daily LFT’s which are negative.

I’m going to go for another PCR but not sure when is the best day to do so.

OP posts:
makelovenotpetrol · 17/10/2021 10:52

You really don't need to do another PCR. You're just wasting testing capacity for your own anxiety.

Iwannabelikeyouohh · 17/10/2021 10:57

@makelovenotpetrol

It wasn’t for my anxiety. I don’t have to isolate and I thought it was the responsible thing to do if I’m going out.
I need to go to the chemist and to collect a parcel from the post office tomorrow.

You don't need to isolate. You've done a lot of tests, you're allowed out of the house to do those things. You don't need to waste another test

makelovenotpetrol · 17/10/2021 11:02

Also you've just made no sense whatsoever.

"I'm going to go for another PCR test but I'm not sure when is the best day to do so"

Followed by stating you need to go to the chemist and post office tomorrow so want to be responsible.

You wouldn't get a PCR test back before then if you're "wondering when is the best day to get it done".

It's you're anxiety OP because you're other statements make no sense.

Iwannabelikeyouohh · 17/10/2021 11:06

@makelovenotpetrol

Yes, I would. All of us got our PcR results back in less than 12hours. (All 9 members of my family who tested positive)

I’m not sure when to test, but have been chatting to DH and he said since his isolation ends today maybe get tested today.

I’ve stayed at home all week with the exception of going to the park (alone) and since I need to go out tomorrow then maybe today is a good day to go for a PCR test.

OP posts:
Iwannabelikeyouohh · 17/10/2021 11:08

Funny how you just cannot win in situations like this.
Had I said I’m not testing at all, I’m sure lots of people would have something to say about that.

I think I’ll save myself the hassle of a test and not bother.
My LFT’s are negative so you’re right. There’s no need for a PCR.

OP posts:
makelovenotpetrol · 17/10/2021 11:15

No, OP, I don't think people would have said anything if you said you weren't going to test at all. The availability of testing to all, is very good when trying to prevent spread of disease, but in this situation it just allows you to play into your spiral of anxiety.

Iwannabelikeyouohh · 17/10/2021 11:20

@makelovenotpetrol

Okay. Well if it was anxiety then I would’ve booked one much sooner.

I was was going to do one as I felt irresponsible going out after such close contact with DS who is positive and I haven’t really been distancing much from DH either since we found out DS was positive.

OP posts:
makelovenotpetrol · 17/10/2021 11:55

It makes no difference to me why you do it.

But I think when it comes to seeking the best help it's important for you to recognise when it's your anxiety speaking and when it isn't. Which is sometimes a really very difficult thing to do.

Iwannabelikeyouohh · 17/10/2021 12:31

Just heard from SIL and BIL is really poorly 😩

He’s waiting to get through to 111.

He’s the youngest, he’s 29. He’s only had one vaccine.

This is what I find so scary about Covid.

SIL is unvaccinated, very overweight and has sailed through it.

Mindymomo · 17/10/2021 12:34

If you want to do a PCR for your own peace of mind, do one, it might well help you moving on forward.

squee123 · 17/10/2021 12:49

Great you're still testing negative. Does this make you feel a bit more reassured for the future? You've had two covid cases in your own home and you're still fit and well Smile

Sorry to hear about your BIL. I hope he's feeling better soon.

I did a PCR at the end of a period of isolation after a close contact. I think that's pretty sensible.

Iwannabelikeyouohh · 17/10/2021 12:53

@stillonthattightrope

I think it’s sensible too. Unfortunately I think a lot of posters will just associate me with anxiety now and will presume all of my choices are made based on being anxious. 🙁

VikingsandDragons · 17/10/2021 13:03

I would get a PCR for your own peace of mind. Also one of my staff had 5 negative lateral flows, but knew she'd had contact and she just felt wiped out (no cough, cold etc) so she went for a PCR which was positive. It's unlikely yours will be but given the anxiety issues I'd do it.

Mellifera · 17/10/2021 13:50

The thing with Covid is, it‘s unpredictable.

Being vaccinated gives you the best protection available, and having a mix of AZ and Pfizer is proven to be super-effective.
I had that mix and my antibody level checked, which was sky high.

Which may well be why you have dodged it so far. Even if you get it, your immune system will know what to do.

I know health anxiety is awful, and I think you‘ve been let down badly by the NHS services. Please change your therapist, and think about the approach, CBT isn‘t the cure for everything and everyone.

Sorry your BIL is having a rough time.

Please get another PCR if it gives you peace of mind. Who cares if it‘s based on anxiety, you have to manage it after all.

I’ve never thought to check antibodies. I wonder how long they last for.

I’m going to speak to secondary mental health on Monday as I don’t feel like the therapy I am having is really benefiting me 😔
