@TheSunIsStillShining

not data, but don't want to start a thread.... Anyone else experiencing that they can't register their pcr kits online for NHS tests?
on facebook people are saying you need to download a code to get new boxes of PCR tests now - are you trying to get new kits or register test results?
ThereIsAGreenHillFarAway · 05/10/2021 20:15

I passed a chemist the other day saying from 1 October a code was needed to pick up LFDs. I wondered if it was to match up the names of people picking up tests to check whether they were registering results.

TheSunIsStillShining · 05/10/2021 20:25

I want to register the test kits I received this morning.
Tomorrow will be fun:

  • I have to call 119 - to register 3 kits. going to take ages
  • have to call boots to rearrange flue jab for kid. If he was above 16 I could do it online, but because he is not I can't. Where's the logic?
JanglyBeads · 05/10/2021 21:15

Fun times Sun…..

There I suspect it’s more likely to be a precursor to fees being charged for them, as hinted at in the summer

I'll be on the phone in the car while driving my son to his podiatry appointment. (I have back to back meetings/workshops all day apart from the doc app.) I know how to pile on the fun! :)
Bordois · 05/10/2021 21:40

Wasn't 1st October the day PHE became UKHSA?

JanglyBeads · 06/10/2021 07:27

Yes indeed Bordois

traumatisednoodle · 06/10/2021 07:56

I've just ordered them online,no problem.

JanglyBeads · 06/10/2021 10:32

“PHE” looking into the now acknowledged phenomenon of people testing positive on LFD but negative on PCR:

mobile.twitter.com/kit_yates_maths/status/1445674420513636356?s=21&fbclid=IwAR1Qfgm1IVgE6-zwv6hYTlw1JzgVoAu_1V70h73jiK4WCiDs0KHzQ6uuA44

JanglyBeads · 06/10/2021 10:34

Should have written, positive multiple times on LFD but still negative on PCR

ThereIsAGreenHillFarAway · 06/10/2021 15:22

Very interesting JanglyBeads.

Can anyone recall how long reports of +ve LFD but negative PCRs have been going on for? Search isn't letting me refine by date.

So false positive LFDs or false negative PCRs? If it's the latter then would we begin to see an increase the ratio of hospital admissions : +ve PCRs?

weddingweddingwoe · 06/10/2021 16:43

Nearly 40k cases today. That's a shock. Nanny will be back online soon with news like that.

sirfredfredgeorge · 06/10/2021 16:50

Strange, no increase in LFD numbers in recent days, but a decent increase in PCR's for yesterday by the looks of things, and it's across all nations.

Something changed, new cycle number chosen for PCR tests? Missing tests that haven't been backdated but the recent problem fixed?

weddingweddingwoe · 06/10/2021 16:53

I know this is a data thread so apologies but I'm worried. Desperately hoping it's a blip...

pinkpip100 · 06/10/2021 17:43

@ThereIsAGreenHillFarAway according to the link I posted earlier much more likely to be false negative PCR I think? <a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=www.instagram.com/p/CUXwS9jo_pM/?utm_medium=copy_link" target="_blank">http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=www.instagram.com/p/CUXwS9jo<a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=www.instagram.com/p/CUXwS9jo_pM/?utm_medium=copy_link" target="_blank">pM/?utmm<a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=www.instagram.com/p/CUXwS9jo_pM/?utm_medium=copy_link" target="_blank">medium=copylink

Might not show up in hospitalisations as many infections are in young people/children at the moment?

JanglyBeads · 06/10/2021 17:46

There, I’d say I’ve been seeing reports from people for nearly three weeks.

The Covid board relevant thread’s OP is dated 23/09.

ThereIsAGreenHillFarAway · 06/10/2021 18:21

Thanks Pink and Jangly

wintertravel1980 · 06/10/2021 20:23

Today’s numbers may be a genuine increase and it may be the result of the new “back to the office” wave. I guess we will know more over next few days.

I still do not think that the wave will lead to uncontrollable growth (opinion, not data) but it is entirely possible it will last a few weeks.

On the positive side, England has now given out 1.575 min boosters (including 620k to people over 80). This should start helping with hospitalisation numbers.

boys3 · 06/10/2021 20:30

Comparative graphs as shown for the past few weeks.

7 day average, and just relating to England.

2021 and 2020 compared overall; then,

August to December for both years, and,

August to October

Hospital Admissions which have remained largely flat for the past couple of weeks, with the seven day average remaining below 600. Well below - ie around half - the lower estimate of last SPI-M model, and close to eight times lower than the mid-point of the central estimate

full year on year case comparison for completeness, although with the vaccine programme the impact these numbers have is very different to last year.
