Will you be angry if we end up back in lockdown?

/ harsh restrictions?

I feel so tired of this all - but mostly tired of feeling lied to by the government. The false promises - 'irreversible' 'final lockdown until science / the vaccines can save the day'

And Scotland are already floating more restrictions, only a few weeks after reopening. It's gutting. I wish they would just tell us what the probably already know is likely to happen over the next few months.

The article speculates that the government have contingency plans, but they'd be crazy if they didn't.

For some reason it reminds me about when Brussels had lockdown after the Paris attacks, because the remaining members of the terrorist cell were at large. Of course, everyone was safe while they stayed indoors, but when they came outside again they were once again at risk Confused

I know the situations are not directly comparable, but IMO, there are more parallels which can legitimately be drawn than one might think...

Nicknacky · 06/09/2021 21:03

@NannyAndJohn When do you intend to go about your life as normal? That’s a genuine question.

Jourdain11 · 06/09/2021 21:05

@PinkSparklyPussyCat

They can plan all they like but I won't be complying. And before anyone says it I know I can't go to shops that are closed etc but like a lot of other people I'm sick of being told what I can do in my own home.
Judging by the numbers of people I know who continued household mixing in the last one (almost everyone) I shouldn't think you will be alone. And if it is true that household mixing is the most likely environment for transmission, what's the point?!

There can be no return to the Old Normal. In the New Normal we Stay at Home to Save Lives and have Lock Downs every winter.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 06/09/2021 21:07

Exactly. I followed all the other lockdowns but we can't carry on like this. I obviously won't be kidnapping family and friends and dragging them into my house but if they wanted to come in they'd be welcome.

IcedPurple · 06/09/2021 21:09

There won't be another lockdown.

Some reintroduction of restictions, maybe, although I think even that's unlikely.

But, sad though it is for some here, lockdowns are already a bit last year.

notgotthehelp · 06/09/2021 21:10

@IcedPurple do you really think that? I need to cling on to thoughts like that, feeling so despondent tonight!

Yes, I really do think that.

Of course, I know no more or less than any one here, but I just cannot see lockdowns happening again in Britain.

In early March 2020 everyone was saying there would never be a Lockdown.

In summer 2020 everyone was saying there would never be another Lockdown.

Islamorada · 06/09/2021 21:22

Well I did not believe that Boris had a magic ball so did not rule out the possibility of another lockdown. However, I do not rely on the government so much but in my own judgment.

notgotthehelp · 06/09/2021 21:23

@NannyAndJohn in June 2021 everyone was saying there would never be 100k cases a day...

oh wait

It's OK. I understand. You're stuck in the time in which you were happiest. It's a pretty common psychological phenonemon, whereby people can't move past the happiest time of their lives.

I get it.

However, the rest of us know that a year has passed. Things have changed. There won't be another lockdown. Wishing it were so won't make it so.

Overthebow · 06/09/2021 21:41

They can try to have another lockdown, but I bet the majority of the population won't comply, bar not being able to go to a pub or restaurant. I most certainly won't stop seeing friends and family again, and luckily they all feel the same way so we will carry on pretty much as normal. I will wear a mask again indoors if required though.

Careermummy · 06/09/2021 21:41

Although I don't wish the illness or death on anyone that would need to happen for there to be another lockdown... I wouldn't mind it over winter, just because life is so much more expensive not in lockdown Smile

ExceptionalAssurance · 06/09/2021 21:41

Might start planning my illegal lockdown gatherings schedule now!

Bordois · 06/09/2021 21:50

party at exceptionalassurances, pass it on

PopcornMuncher · 06/09/2021 21:51

Pleasantly surprised to see them admit that restrictions might be needed.

Oh @NannyAndJohn we just knew you'd be delighted Grin

They might do it but they'll never get compliance again like they did last March. And they know it.
