Waiting for my PCR results. Feeling so rough. Everything aches. I've taken paracetamol and slept most of the day. Feel like I've got the beginning of a cold and feel feverish but can't take my temp as the thermometer broke a while ago.
Urgh urgh urgh. Not really sure why I'm posting really!

My test was positive.
Day 4 now, headache, throat better, taste buds gone haywire and I now have a temperature and gyppy tummy.
By no means "ill" though.
I am CEV and hoping the vaccine does it's job and keeps me out of hospital.
On top of this we were due to go on holiday next week to the Yorkshire coast. I had pushed the boat out and booked a really expensive apartment and my adult DC were coming. So I've had to cancel it and all the restaurant bookings.
DH has been for a pcr test today. DC were here at the weekend so both having to isolate.

@Piggywaspushed did you used to be on the HE boards? I think you gave me some help when DS was at sixth form several years ago. I've name change many times since then.

Piggywaspushed · 11/08/2021 14:44

That is me, yes! Hi!

BishBashBoshBush · 11/08/2021 15:01

Oh no @CatAlice sorry you got the Rona! I'm day 4 too. I'm seriously hoping there can't be much longer until we turn a corner.
And I love that you recognise @Piggywaspushed

That is such a shame about the holiday. It feels so difficult to plan anything nice at the moment.

CatAlice · 11/08/2021 17:02

Thank goodness we weren't going abroad, the stress would have killed me before covid!
Imagine getting to your hotel in greece or whatever and coming down with it.
Awaiting DH (70+) test results.
The apartment woman was so kind and helpful I almost cried on her. But they are fully booked until late November now.
Meanwhile we are avoiding each other and wearing masks in kitchen etc.

I was probably secretsquirrils in the old HE days piggy. I guess your are grown up now?

Piggywaspushed · 11/08/2021 17:04

Oh, I remember you! One still at school , the other at uni now...

DoctorMarten · 11/08/2021 20:35

I know this won't cure but ramp up your vitamin D if you're unwell as it does affect the immune system. If you haven't started taking it, do so. Especially if you aren't Caucasian.

CatAlice · 11/08/2021 20:39

Already on a high dose vit d plus have autoimmune disease.

DoctorMarten · 11/08/2021 20:40

Sending you good wishes 🤗

Mynameisthecatwhogotthecream · 11/08/2021 20:42

Day 8 here, headache mostly gone although it tends to kick in again in the evening, taste and smell odd, can mainly taste bitter/sharp things and even soap smells unpleasant.
Not feeling tired so long I do nothing but if I try to do anything I rapidly feel tired/slightly out of breath(itcis getting better, I can get upstairs without my chest feeling tight)

lifeohhifeee · 11/08/2021 20:50

I don't have it I just wanted to stop by and say I really hope you all get better soon I really do!! Thanks

breadwidow · 11/08/2021 23:09

My son has symptoms (key one being fever) so took him for PCR test this morning and did one for myself too as feeling a tad rough but no clear COVID symptoms (justified it as Zoe app asked me to take test as if logged myself as not feeling normal). I'm double vaxxed and did an LF last night which was negative so feeling quite hopeful that pcr would be negative, but during the day my double vaxxed husband began to feel increasingly rough so did LF this evening and it was positive right away. His symptoms have got worse and he's got PCR booked for tomorrow morning. He's got a temperature and is very achey. Breathing ok but he's losing taste (however before positive LF he commented that was due to being bunged up). To be honest I'm more annoyed about (even crappy camping type) holiday plans being ruined, so fed up with my flat after many months in it for most days f the time and now we are stuck in it for a good while! Hoping my daughter stays symptom free. My son seems a bit better, fever reduced. Both kids are under 10 so not vaxxed. Cannot work out where they got it from as had just been with their grand parents in countryside for a week and basically only seen them.

Workyticket · 11/08/2021 23:48

Joining in if that's OK

Started feeling rough earlier today. Hoarse, cough, headache, aching, sore throat so far

Positive LFT at tea time. PCR booked for tomorrow morning

I feel terrible as we've been staying with friends for the last couple of days. They've all had negative LFTs so far

Ds and dp negative so far too. Poor ds chose not to give me a kiss or cuddle at bed time even though he's been cuddling me today already

GiveUsACoffee · 12/08/2021 00:02

I'm sorry you all. Double vaxxed, did PCR today which was positive. Been coughing and feeling achey since yesterday. But it actually feels like a mild flu. Hoping it doesn't get much worse. Everything crossed for you all x

BishBashBoshBush · 12/08/2021 00:39

Welcome along for the ride new people! Sorry your here though iykwim.
@DoctorMarten do you know if there are any foods heavy in vitamin D? I don't think I have time to update my Sainsbury's shop tonight.
And @Workyticket my kids have been hesitant around me in the day, but both have woken up with "bad dreams" about monsters each night- I can't help but think they are worried about me. I'm lucky in that everyone else in our house is fine, DH was negative as was one child, only me and our eldest were positive.
I just keep reassuring them I will be FINE because I've had the special medicine. But that I need to rest a lot so my body can fight the virus.
I just want to feel better NOW. Im too impatient lol. Fed up of having ringing ears and a blocked face and sore everything!

@GiveUsACoffee I think it's exactly like the flu but I'm more "with it". When I've had flu before I literally can't work my brain. So yes maybe mild flu, or diluted flu or something.
I've started meditating in the bed as a way to pass the time now as I can't handle staring at screens all day but I can't sleep alllll day either. Just an idea if anyone else literally cannot stand being in bed for this long like me. I keep getting really tearful too.

PCRs back already for me and son: he's positive, I'm not. DHs symptoms very similar to sons so fully expecting him to be positive too. Surprised I've managed to escape it

DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 12/08/2021 07:53

Hi all,

Sorry to those of your who are suffering ☹️☹️☹️

I'm on Day 12 now and just starting to feel a bit better. I've been more or less in bed for a most of the time. Very lucky to have older DC so was able to.

I went for a walk round the block yesterday and came back drenched in a cold sweat.

For me it's been a very nasty virus even when vaccinated - can remember an illness that's floored me as much, ever.

DoctorMarten · 12/08/2021 08:34

Welcome along for the ride new people! Sorry your here though iykwim. *@DoctorMarten* do you know if there are any foods heavy in vitamin D? Not many foods will contain enough D. Order some Better You vitamin D with vitamin K. It's a spray that you just squirt inside your mouth. Holland & Barrett sell it, but as you're isolating, there's a fab online chemist called Medino that delivers quickly. It's a vitamin I take year-round, as Northern European sun isn't strong enough (I'm not fair-skinned; the non-fair make less D naturally). I started taking it when Covid kicked off - it really has helped my skin, etc, too! I did have Covid pre-jab and it was horrendous. It lasted from January to July last year. I'm sure I'd have been worse without the vitamins though. Drink lots and prop yourself up. If you're chesty, lie on your front (propped on pillows). Get well soon, people 🤗
Workyticket · 12/08/2021 08:42

Off for our PCR tests. If I don't have covid I have some kind of plague I think. Feel rough

I can still taste my toothpaste and coffee this morning though

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2021 08:45

Day 9 today. Cough has become a bit whoopy but still not too frequent. Woke up sweating at 2am. Feet still sweating! Much more perky mentally though.

DH seems to think his domestic endeavours end at midnight on Saturday and I will be running to Sainsburys with joy in my heart.

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2021 08:50

I never lost taste or smell. Might have helped nausea if I had!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 12/08/2021 10:15

I wonder if I’m missing something - I didn’t bother with the PCR test - what is the benefit once you know for sure that you’re positive? My LFT are still very strong lines, I feel awful, there’s no chance that I don’t have covid.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 12/08/2021 10:16

It may be obvious but my brain is now so addled I can’t think straight Confused

CatAlice · 12/08/2021 10:33

Day 5. grim night of coughing and sweating but after 12 hours of sleep, albeit broken, I feel a bit better this morning. I won't get my hopes up judging by lots of you still unwell after over a week.
DH not got his pcr back yet but his LF was negative and he has just sneezed a bit. In a way I hope he's positive because he's over 70 and if he gets an asymptomatic dose it will be like a booster vaccine. We are wearing masks in communal areas but I am staying in one room or outside.

I have adult DC who both live away but were here at the weekend, in fact we all went out for a meal on Friday and I assume that's where I got it. So they are isolating. One is a teacher and normally works the last week or so of the holidays so has brought that forward. The other WFH anyway.
At least they can emerge from isolation on Monday when the rules change as all DJ.
Honestly I feel like Typhoid Mary the impact on other people.
I did all the T&T online but haven't heard anything from them.

Avon I don't know but instint tells me you should have a pcr as it will be proof.

Beautiful weather today just to rub it in that my holiday is cancelled.
