Waiting for my PCR results. Feeling so rough. Everything aches. I've taken paracetamol and slept most of the day. Feel like I've got the beginning of a cold and feel feverish but can't take my temp as the thermometer broke a while ago.
Urgh urgh urgh. Not really sure why I'm posting really!

@AvonCallingBarksdale

Thank goodness I’ve found this thread. I’m double-jabbed but DD tested positive on Thursday then I tested positive on Friday. My double-jabbed DMiL has also tested positive now, who DD had been with last week. Not wishing to get all anti-vaxxer, but my cousin and his wife also recently tested positive after being DJ. I know symptoms should be less severe but I hadn’t realised how bring double-jabbed only reduced risk of catching covid from 1:13 to 1:26. Feeling tired, achey and sore throat.
The difference is that people not vaccinated are often ending up in ITU and ventilators. I'm DJ and expect I'll end up with it at some point due to my job. But my jabs should save my life. I expect to be ill but survive
Piggywaspushed · 11/08/2021 07:00

Hi cat. Hope you are OK.

Day 8 here and actually had a proper night's sleep ! Or about 6 hours, I'd guess. Cough more irritating.

Yesterday, I couldn't tolerate sitting in garden all :heat was too much and today is going to be proper warm. I normally love a warm sunny day .

HopefullyNotInfected · 11/08/2021 07:56

As you may guess, my user name was wishful thinking.

I reckon I’m on about day 6 or 7 since symptoms started, have had a runny nose, sore throat, headache and a bit of a cough. Since last night I’ve had stomach ache on and off which is unpleasant. Anyone else had stomach ache?
Currently lying in bed wondering where the hot water bottle might be as that is the only thing I can think of that will help.

Piggywaspushed · 11/08/2021 08:02

Gastro symptoms very common.

I had full on vomiting.

onelittlefrog · 11/08/2021 08:05

The good thing is that you are vaccinated, so whatever you are experiencing, your symptoms are less than they would be otherwise.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Torvi · 11/08/2021 08:38

Does anyone else have a chesty cough? I've been ill for a week now. I don't feel too bad in myself but this chesty cough is awful Sad

Piggywaspushed · 11/08/2021 08:49

Yup!

Piggywaspushed · 11/08/2021 08:50

I am tracking about 3 days behind DS2 and his cough is just subsiding.

DoctorMarten · 11/08/2021 09:04

For those saying, "I'm double vaxxed, what's the point if I can still catch it?" Just imagine being much worse for much longer and possibly not recovering. It's not a joke.

Hope those who are unwell recover quickly.

Torvi · 11/08/2021 09:05

I've just seen a thread started by Bubbublish saying she's in hospitalSad

I don't think anyone on this thread has been saying that. I think we are all bloody grateful to be having the mild version and are just mind boggled at how ill this could have made us had we not had the vaccine!

Just to be clear as I mentioned being double-vaxxed and still getting it. I am definitely not thinking “what was the point of being vaccinated”. I had early jabs due to work. We’re nowhere near being anti-vaxxers. I am, however, peed off that I’m feeling crap, have cancelled a holiday, spent a shitty birthday feeling like death warmed up and that’s pretty normal Smile
I work with primary and secondary healthcare - I know what the reality is of getting this particular variant when not vaccinated.
Hope everyone is starting to turn some sort of positive corner.
Worrying news about Bubbublish Sad

Piggywaspushed · 11/08/2021 10:22

Oh no! Poor bub.

Piggywaspushed · 11/08/2021 10:30

Wow, just seen how awful people on her thread are bring. How do I contact @MNHQ?

Piggywaspushed · 11/08/2021 10:35

Oh, it's been zapped. Thank God.

CatAlice · 11/08/2021 10:46

Still waiting for my pcr results.
I've been following bub's thread. Shocking, glad it's been zapped and hopefully she can come on here for support.

MrsLCSofLichfield · 11/08/2021 11:00

I reported until I couldn't report any more, disgraceful responses. I have had COVID and it was vile, now double jabbed with AZ and feeling v far from bulletproof, still being careful and staying out of people's way. I am tired of people minimising it, and my aspirations now are limited to hoping that when I catch the bloody thing again it will be shorter and less vile. Hope everyone on here feels better ASAP Flowers

AvonCallingBarksdale · 11/08/2021 11:01

What were people saying on Bubbublish thread? Her situation sounded really hard hope she comes back to this thread Sad

BruceAndNosh · 11/08/2021 11:09

I hope she was able to arrange childcare

Don't want to repeat it tbh. For fear of attracting them.
WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 11/08/2021 11:16

I know anecdotally we cannot be sure if - individually - we would have felt worse with covid if unvaccinated, statistically the case is clear.
As a group the vaccinated fare better.

And not only are hospitalisations down, a year ago people weren't being admitted until dangerously ill, there wasn't the capacity. People were dying at home. Now they are able to admit earlier when interventions are still able to help.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 11/08/2021 11:17

Good point.

wheresmyhairytoe · 11/08/2021 12:54

Just to give you all a glimmer of hope, I'm on day 12 now and feel much better.

Lost my smell and taste a few days ago, still coughing but definitely on the way up.

I'm out of isolation too so going to try a very small walk around the block as not had a walk for nearly 2 weeks, longest time ever, I'm usually out every day.

BishBashBoshBush · 11/08/2021 13:50

Sweet freedom @wheresmyhairytoe !!! Enjoy your walk! Come back and tell us all about the OUTSIDE WORLD.

I can't believe @Bubbublish thread got deleted. I saw some of the replies but then fell asleep again. She should come back here where it's much friendlier. I hope she got childcare sorted out too.

I'm becoming slightly concerned I'm turning nocturnal as I am sleeping all day then coughing all night. Banging headache seems to have set up a permanent residence in my head and face. I was determined to "feel better" by today. Usually when I have a bad cold 3 days is my limit before I HAVE to start feeling better/get bored of being ill. So today onwards is not part of the plan and I had a huge tantrum this morning and cried and cried to DH as I felt so bloody miserable. Tad embarrassing.
