Waiting for my PCR results. Feeling so rough. Everything aches. I've taken paracetamol and slept most of the day. Feel like I've got the beginning of a cold and feel feverish but can't take my temp as the thermometer broke a while ago.
Urgh urgh urgh. Not really sure why I'm posting really!

@AvonCallingBarksdale I think the PCR test triggers t&t abs it's what employers will want as proof. I think PCR results are analysed for new variants too and used for national and regional stats

I'm still struggling with a really chesty cough and wondering if I might have a secondary bacterial infection. Would you contact GP or 111 about it?

AvonCallingBarksdale · 12/08/2021 11:23

@Torvi I had that last year pre-vaccine. I phoned the GP who prescribed antibiotics and prednisolone steroids. They both worked quickly.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 12/08/2021 11:24

@BishBashBoshBush ah ok. I thought that would happen with reporting a positive LFT to the .gov site. Thanks

Torvi · 12/08/2021 11:28

Thanks Avon I'll give the GP a try

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2021 11:40

Hate to break it to you but this

At least they can emerge from isolation on Monday when the rules change as all DJ.

isn't correct....

GiveUsACoffee · 12/08/2021 11:45
@GiveUsACoffee I think it's exactly like the flu but I'm more "with it". When I've had flu before I literally can't work my brain. So yes maybe mild flu, or diluted flu or something.
I've started meditating in the bed as a way to pass the time now as I can't handle staring at screens all day but I can't sleep alllll day either. Just an idea if anyone else literally cannot stand being in bed for this long like me. I keep getting really tearful too.
Oh my god. I'm getting really tearful too. Feeling much worse in general today, and emotionally had it. Also craving vitamin-rich, fresh foods.

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2021 11:52

yes, I just cried because we have no M and S Jazz apples.

CatAlice · 12/08/2021 11:52

It is correct Piggy.
There was some concern that those already SI would have to complete it but this governement press release makes it clear. Someone also posted that actual legislation on another thread which is unambiguous.
The pcr test is only advisory.

DS2's test is negative. Odd becuase he lost sense of tase and smell. He wants an AB test now, I've pointed him to Zoe.

Yes, saw that. Phew!

GiveUsACoffee · 12/08/2021 12:32

So sorry @Piggywaspushed Trust me, I know the feeling 😩

You would probably be disappointed with them if you had any Grin. The taste buds thing reminds me of pregnancy. I had hyperemesis and survived for long periods on plain boiled rice. I felt hungry today for the first time and treated myself to toasted fruit loaf. It wasn't horrible but didn't hit the spot like it usually does.
Tana433 · 12/08/2021 12:51

Not trying to be goady at all but have any of you that are double vaxxed and really ill actually thought that maybe the vaccine just didnt work for you and you would have been just as ill with or without it? Personally, im happy to take my chances without the jab but we all make our own choices but surely it must have crossed your minds?

MrsLCSofLichfield · 12/08/2021 12:54

@Tana433 - have a Biscuit and go away. Thank you.

Tana433 · 12/08/2021 12:58

@MrsLCSofLichfield Mature response thankyou. I was actually trying to gauge opinion without the nastiness.but maybe i should have known better. I hope you all feel better soon.

MrsLCSofLichfield · 12/08/2021 13:02

You're welcome.

I am utterly sick of anti vaxxers and I keep vowing to ignore as you can't argue with such stupidity. But I'll bite. I take immunosuppressive drugs and have a long list of health conditions. I genuinely believe that without the vaccine covid would kill me. I also know I had a slow response to the vaccine because I volunteer for research and have been tested for antibodies since February. In fact I volunteered for vaccine trials but was rejected. Someone has to. I'm very grateful to all those who did for the benefit of the world. And fiercely resentful of all those who don't take the vaccine when they could because they are responsible for prolonging this epidemic. Vaccinated people are many time less likely to actually transmit this virus.
Tana433 · 12/08/2021 13:21

@CatAlice Thankyou for your response and im sorry if i have upset you. As i have said on other threads i an definitely not anti- vax, i have had all of my other ones and so have my children ( my children who are in their 20s have also had this one) I am worried that it we dont yet know long term effect and also that it hasnt been passed by the FDA (?) yet. I am a little worried about catching covid but i am fairly young and healthy and very rarely get ill so, on balance have decided to take my chances. Who knows, i may well be wrong but i can choose to have the jab later on but if it was the wrong choice, i cant undo it iyswim. It is a dilemma for me though.

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2021 13:26

It's all about context tana and this wasn't the right thread for your thoughts.

The idea that maybe the vax hadn't really taken for me did cross my mind in various febrile moments and is of zero to little comfort right now. Know your audience.

BishBashBoshBush · 12/08/2021 13:38

Hi @Tana433 if you want to gauge people's opinion please go start your own thread.
This is clearly a thread for giving sympathy and feeling sorry for ourselves who have had the vaccine and are bloody pleased and grateful we have had it. It is also a thread for discussing symptoms, reuniting long lost MNetters and also figuring out who needs what tests.

Btw- nectarines are the utter bomb. Can't taste them, but I've eaten a whole packet. And @DoctorMarten I've ordered that vitamin d and k spray.

Gigglebiscuit · 12/08/2021 13:47

When someone tells me they aren't jabbed without a good medical reason, it makes me properly cross, as all I can think is that maybe if they had got vaccinated, I and the many others currently with covid, might not have it.

Hi to the others on this thread. I hope everyone starts to feel better soon.

I'm another here double jabbed and currently with covid. I am now on Day 11. For me it came on really slowly, just a sniffle to start with. It developed into a heavy cold with a hell of a headache. Not the worst I have ever had, but somehow seemed to really wipe me out. Seemed to hit peak at about Day 5 & 6. Felt better Day 8 & 9. Then yesterday and today I feel worse again. Really phlegmy. Major headache again, and just feel generally unwell. Also had dodgy tummy. And my sinuses are burning! I have no sense of smell at all, my sense of taste is changed - I can taste sweet, spicy, salt, etc, but can't tell flavours apart. So all chocolate just tastes sweet, but all the same whatever it is.

DH had it too, he's definitely feeling better and in recovery and doing stuff around house. Teenage DC had it too, but like me, had a bit of a dip the last couple of days.

Very, very fed up and sorry for myself. Just keep reminding myself that if this is after the jab, how awful could it have been without jabs.

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2021 13:52

I ma also slightly cheered (although he is being an arse today because he is bored) that I think the vaccine has prevented the transmission of the virus to my DH from me. He has a heart condition.

I have had a bit of a relapse today (Day 9). I think I overdid it yesterday. Overdoing it consisted of sitting outside for a few hours.

Theimpossiblegirl · 12/08/2021 13:54

Can I join you? Teen DDS had positive pcrs Monday, after lines on lfts, we've all been isolating and yesterday I started to feel rough so ordered a PCR.
Lfts are positive for me, negative for dh. We both tested negative on pcrs Monday.
DH and I are double vaxxed, girls have had their first.
I'm trying to be cheerful and positive but am worried.
It would be nice to have someone to talk to without worrying the girls.

BishBashBoshBush · 12/08/2021 14:08

Welcome along @Theimpossiblegirl
@Piggywaspushed I really hope your DH doesn't get it because you had the vaccine. That would make all the misery worth it for me.
I have been sleeping most of the day but not feeling as horrendous as I did when I started the thread. More like I've got a bad cold today. But I am not going to do anything as I do not want a relapse day- although they sound fairly inevitable? Day 5 here!
