I didn’t want one, but I need to go back to work after 2 years, after a house move and a baby , hundreds of job applications for anything and everything and not even one interview.

I’m a dementia care specialist, I could walk into a job in care tomorrow. So I just had to have it.

I’m 41, had AZ.

And i’m getting very drunk tonight, I don’t care if it’s a bad idea.

I’m not sure this thread really is helping, why don’t you instead snuggle up on the sofa and watch a film/ box set/ anything really.

You’ve taken the first step and the best thing you can do is relax and look after yourself.

You may get symptoms or you may not, no one can predict how their body will react. So try not to think too much about it and just do something nice that you want to do.

Arsebucket · 07/08/2021 11:50

No, I’m not angry.

I’ve just had to do something that i’m uncomfortable with. It’s a personal thing. not an ardent anti vaxxer, not a conspiracy theorist.

It’s just a hard step for some people to take that’s all.

I’m very similar in age to you op. I had AZ and very severe side effects started 12-14 hours after vaccination. After having these effects for a further 24 hours, they went away. I don’t know if it was because I might have had Covid in the early days or been exposed etc or if it was just how my body reacted. My dh was jabbed same day same place and had no reaction.

If you want to get really drunk, do it in a weeks time, just in case you suffer a very nasty reaction tonight.

Tana433 · 07/08/2021 11:52

This has made me furious on your behalf. You didnt want the vaccine yet you had to get one in order to get a job. Thats so fucking wrong and i dont know why more people are not protesting about this. Im so lucky that i dont need to work and like you i dont see many people. I have my shopping delivered so i have no real need to leave the house if i dont want to but i was supposed to attend concerts at the end of the year that probably wont happen for me now. Its ridiculous and im beyond sick of this country.

See, i’m hoping that as I had it at 10 ish that I’d sleep through any thing 12 hours later. I am up at 5am, so I’m usually flat out by 9pm.

@Arsebucket

Also how soon did any side effects start?

I feel a bit odd (but i’ve been on tears for about an hour so there’s that).

What side effects are you expecting?

I had nothing apart for a sore arm with the first vaccine and nothing at all with the second.

Husband felt a bit tired for a few hours from 8 hours post first vaccine and nothing with second.

Marguerite2000 · 07/08/2021 11:56

It'll probably be one glass and then bed
Probably the best thing to do. I expect you're already aware that a heavy drinking session can supress immunity. It seems a bit daft to me to do that right after you've had a vaccine.
To answer your question, I just had the usual kind of vaccine response after AZ - sore arm, tiredness, a bit cold and shivery for a few days. A couple of paracetamol did the trick.Second dose - vaccine site was a bit sore for a couple of days. Hopefully you don't feel too rough.

HarrietSchulenberg · 07/08/2021 11:56

I've had 2 AZ vaccinations and no side effects from either.

Etinox · 07/08/2021 11:58
Flowers Well done! I felt a bit fluey after the first one and no side effects at all for the second.
JuniperJuno · 07/08/2021 12:00

You’ll be fine! I grew a set of horns after mine, it was weird at first but I’m used to them now. They’re great for holding my shopping bags.

@TheFrogsAreDying

What you’re complaining that you’re lucky enough to have been able to get it? You realise people are dying all over the world because there’s no vaccine available for them , but maybe they’re not on your radar as they are poor and probably not white. What a silly privileged thing to complain about.
That is an appalling response, shame on you.
Shmithecat2 · 07/08/2021 12:04

I'm 46. Had both my jabs, AZ. Had no side effects other than a sore arm.

LemonWeb · 07/08/2021 12:06

I had a day of side effects then I felt okay. Flowers OP, it sounds like it’s been tough.

Arsebucket · 07/08/2021 12:07

I did make sure I got it i’m my right arm though, I have a very 12 month who is a big fan of being carried. Couldn’t risk my left arm being sore.

Honestly I wouldn’t get drunk. I felt really ill after my first AZ thank honest it was one of rare night DD2 settled for DH and didn’t want to bf. It may have been better if I could have slept when I first was ill but with young kids that wasn’t a possible.

Arsebucket · 07/08/2021 12:10

Thank you.

I know some people get very angry when someone hadn’t had the vaccine at the
earliest, we all have reasons for every thing we do in life.

And I know a couple of my responses were a bit shitty, but you have no idea what’s going on in someone else’s mind.

Dh is out walking up a hill with the the kids, so I don’t have him here to speak to at the moment.

I’m 40 and have had both jabs AZ. Didn’t have any side effects. Hopefully you’ll be ok too. Don’t overthink it. Good luck with the job.

I found this, Arsebucket:

www.forbes.com/sites/brucelee/2021/05/30/is-it-safe-to-drink-alcohol-after-getting-covid-19-vaccines/

Just go easy (which I think you have said you will do).

As for side effects, my feet felt funny a few days after the vaccination and I was a bit hot but nothing terrible and it didn't last. Not nearly as bad as having Covid-19, which you have had and I did over a year ago (and it was dreadful). The vaccination is a doddle, honestly!

Yeah, see Dh just text me again saying he thinks it’s a terrible idea. Mainly as I haven’t had any alcohol in months.

I might come off my health kick for a day and make a fucking massive lasagne instead.
